Welcome to the Book Talk Forum. We sincerely hope you have a great time here. We take this opportunity to share the rules & regulations developed specifically for this section. Please take the time to read and review these guidelines carefully before posting them here. We strive to make this a safe and respectful space for all IF members.

No Bashing: India-forums.com  Code of Conduct strictly forbids members from bashing fellow members, DT members, and celebrities. This includes the use of foul language, as well as any personal remarks, against authors. We welcome members to share their constructive criticism of the series' story line and characters, as well as to discuss the author's skills. However, please refrain from engaging in any kind of bashing, which will be considered a direct breach of the IF CoC.

Bashing Development Team Members is strictly against IF Rules.  Warning Levels will be raised for members found bashing the development team. If you have any issues, contact the forum DT members.

No personal attack, direct / indirect, abusive, sarcastic, or passive-aggressiveness,  within or outside of the forum.

Personal attack: Each person is entitled to have their own point of view, likes, and dislikes. Differences in opinions are bound to exist in a forum like IndiaForums.com. However, this does not permit one to attack their fellow members for not sharing the same point of view. Let us respect our fellow members and refrain from making any provocative statements, which will only lead to unnecessary quarrels.

Members come here to discuss with good intentions. Quoting someone's post and making a harsh comment begets displeasure. Please refrain from posting any abusive, derogatory, insulting, or sarcastic comments that can potentially hurt the sentiments of your fellow members. Please be respectful while posting and maintain politeness, even if you disagree with a fellow member.  There is a fine line between bashing and criticizing. It's one thing to be analytical, but quite another to instigate and mock.

Indirectly Mocking Opinions and Fault-Finding:  You are free to express your opinion and have a healthy debate with one another. However, mocking and posting instigating remarks on one's opinion will not be tolerated.

Express your opinion in a civil manner. We do respect Freedom of Speech but it's important to remember that every right and freedom comes with the responsibility to use it properly. Any individual and/ or topic  mocking opinions, fault-finding, or nitpicking will see a direct warning level increase of 20%, and the topic shall be closed.

Name Calling: When offering criticism, there are times when members tend to go overboard and use certain derogatory and downright offensive words against a celebrity/member/DT member. Please remember that any derogatory references, or name-calling of any writer/member/DT member is against forum rules, and strict action will be taken against those who indulge in it. Name-calling is allowed only if it is used to describe a character or his/her behavior in a book.

No Slangs/Swear words/Curses/ Profanity in Posts : The use of foul language is STRICTLY PROHIBITED on the forum. Whether the word is written in its complete format or abbreviated, it is still not allowed under any circumstances.  This is a family friendly forum. Hence, anyone found using swear words, curses, slang, or profanity will face serious action. If members do come across such language please report the post.  Use of such language will lead to warnings and raise the warning level for repeat offenders.

Counter-Posting: Refrain from making counter posts on the forum. For example, if you see a post that you feel you do not agree with and believe to be insulting/provoking or abusive, DO NOT then go and create another topic in relation to it to counterargue against the post maker. This only leads to further unrest and more arguments breaking out in the forum.

No Moral Policing: Everyone is welcome to express their opinions, however unpopular or different they are, as long as they are within the forum rules and IF COC. Members have the freedom to offer their own unique perspective, which may contradict someone else's point of view. When you impose your opinions on what is right or wrong, and judge people based on their opinions, you are shaming them for their values, which goes against the IF CoC. We believe in having a safe and inclusive environment where everyone is free to express their thoughts. If you find anyone breaching the rules, please Report the topic or contact the DT Team,

Editing Posts:  As you all must be aware of the forum as well as the IF rules, please abide by them while making comments. Certain threads move very quickly, and MODS are not liable to edit or take action on each and every comment. Please be accountable for what you post, and be vigilant about what others post. Additionally, any post made with the sole intention of mocking or instigation, which leads to a ruckus in the forum, will be trashed without a note.

When a thread title has been amended by the Dev Team or a note has been added to a member's post, please refrain from editing such posts, this will be seen as going against the code of conduct, and the members will be reprimanded.

Use of Caps:  Avoid using caps and a big font for an entire post, as it represents shouting in a public forum. You can use caps to emphasize a word or two. But using CAPS for all of your posts is not allowed.

Multiple ID (MID): India-forums.com The Code of Conduct strictly prohibits members from having multiple IDs. Please refrain from making MIDs. If a user is found with MIDs, all except the most active ID will be banned/deactivated, followed by a raise in W/L to the active ID.

Please remember that not every newbie is an MID - some are genuine members, so do NOT attack newbies by categorizing them as MIDs. If members suspect MIDs, they are requested to contact DT, who will then look into the matter. DO NOT bully newbies or groupbies with the claim that they are MIDs.

Personal lives & non-books Topics: This section is only intended for the discussion of various books/ genres and authors.

Discussion related to the author, or the movies made from the books, is also allowed, provided the discussion remains on topic and follows the forum conduct.

Discussion of non-canon plots/character arcs that diverged from the original storyline, is allowed. However, any non-canon ship shouldn’t involve pairing a minor with an adult.

Sharing Personal Information and Privacy: You are welcome to discuss books, related reviews, and your personal choices of books.

Additionally, do not share your personal information with others on the Internet. If you are sharing any information with an unknown person, you are doing so at your own risk. Any conversations that take place in private messages, or Facebook Messenger between two people are between them and not to be shared in the open forum. Privacy and the safety of members are of prime importance in IF. If anyone is found sharing private and personal content from other social networking sites on IF, they will be held responsible for breaching privacy and should be prepared for lawful consequences.

Copyright: Sharing unauthorised links that distribute copyrighted work of the authors without their permission is NOT ALLOWED.

Sharing entire content of an author’s copyrighted work by copy-pasting them to the threads is NOT ALLOWED.

Sharing a quote/a paragraph/a picture from an author’s copyrighted book/novel/poetry/comics is allowed PROVIDED the author is credited for their work alongside sharing.

Forum and Development Team related Issues:  Do not bring forum issues into the threads under any circumstances. If you have any problems with any of the threads on the forum, either report them or PM to the Development team members of this forum. DO NOT create posts to discuss forum issues, and DO NOT start discussing forum issues in threads already open.

The DT is not allowed to disclose what we are doing with certain threads or what action we are taking, so please don't try to make judgments on our decisions because we just don't go through the topics you  report but read through EVERYTHING in that particular thread. Just because we don't highlight step by step as to which action was taken against which member, it doesn't mean action wasn't taken. If you have a problem, PM the Dev Team members. Also, once a DT member has posted a note on a thread regarding rule breaking, please refrain from further dragging the matter into the thread.

Moderation: The moderation chain is as follows: Viewbies > Moderators > Administrator.

Your first point of contact would be the section Viewbie or Moderator, as they take care of the day-to-day happenings in the forum. If you have any issues regarding moderation, you can escalate them to Section Development Team Viewbies (LizzieBennet or DreamOfEndless  ) or Moderator ( Viswasruti )

Any issues regarding Moderation or Warning queries will be entertained only by PM to DT. Do not argue about rulings in the threads/open new posts regarding moderation and disrupt the atmosphere of the forum. Following the moderating Chain, approach  Viewbies LizzieBennet or DreamOfEndless  . If the matter is still not resolved, you are free to approach the  Moderator (Viswasruti).

DO NOT open threads on the forum questioning the actions of a DT member or decisions taken. Such threads shall be closed immediately, asking the members to contact the DT via PMs. Strict action will be taken against repeating offenders.

Reporting an Issue: Please do not report the same post more than once. Members reporting the same post multiple times will receive a PM warning, and if it continues, there will be a raise in the warning level too. This rule certainly does not intend to discourage the members from reporting, but often the same post is reported multiple times by the same member, and it serves no purpose. Please understand that DTs need at least 24-48 hours to work on the reported post, and simply pressing the report button multiple times will only delay the process. Some situations demand time, and decisions are often taken after consultation, so there may be delays.

Report Button/Response Time: Please keep in mind that the Moderators are also members like you. We would also want to have the time to make posts and discuss them with our friends; and we also have personal lives. Please allow a reasonable time frame of 48 hours. We try to address issues and respond to PMs and Reports as soon as we can get to them, but we request that you grant us some leverage as well. Instead of several people sending PMs on the same issue, it would be appreciated if one person PMd the concerned DT with their concerns.

Chatting - We do see members chatting, and while we encourage bonding with forum members, please reduce the personal chatting because we do have a chat club for that purpose.  Additionally, do not spam with just emoticons/numbers to increase the post count/pages. Do not quote long posts. You can edit the post to include the parts you want to respond to or simply tag the member whose quote you're responding.
CC is open to everyone, however, do not invade the CC with the purpose of rileing up the members or instigate them. Everyone has the right to voice their opinions and should NOT be judged/generalized based on their likes/ dislikes. If any of your fellow members/friends fail to follow the rules, kindly ask them to edit their post or tell them its wrong rather than joining them and aggravating the issue.

Please understand that freedom in the forum is accompanied by an expectation of MATURE behaviour and CIVIL discourse and if these two are seen as lacking, then such freedoms will also be revoked. Our primary concern is to keep the forum open for HEALTHY discussion and if members do not demonstrate the capability to indulge in healthy discussion with the present liberties, the DT reserves the right to amend  the rules to help maintain a safe, inclusive, and healthy space for everyone.

Best Regards,

Book Talk Forum DT

Here you can recommend books, post your own reviews of the books you read, talk about your favorite authors and books, and ask any questions about any particular book. The members who have any knowledge of it will be more than willing to reply!

But, please, before creating a new topic regarding a book, just check out some previous topics because a similar topic about the same book might already be there to help you!

Please post all  your Book Reviews in that particular thread ---

These book reviews must be your own and not by any other critic!  Please keep that in mind.

It is understandable that a certain book might be of interest to some, whereas it might come to be the most boring book to others.  But please don't get aggressive about your thoughts about certain books.  And certainly, no personal attacks., If you come across any personal attack, please consult Mods via PM .

All the book lovers, have fun discussing your favorite topic: - BOOKS!
