Sumbul, her dad, Fahmaan. It's all a set-up!

Sumbul has been having the most puzzling journey in BB16, and perhaps in all seasons. Please hear me out.

She is one of the youngest contestants. From her entry, it appeared as if she would be a firecracker, replicating the drama and camera-grabbing antics that she had on her Ravivaar with Star Parivaar stint.

But once in the house, she was lost. She got into a toxic friendship with Shalin and Tina, and seemed as a lost puppy sort of third-wheel in the dynamic. This ironically gains a lot of attention among viewers. Despite doing nothing much herself, there's a lot of chatter about her behaviour. Her dad is on a rampage in the outer world, reciting poems to all and sundry on social media, making inane justifications for sending his teen daughter to a voyeuristic reality show.😲

Paradoxically, this is what grabbed the limelight right from the initial weeks of the show. Her father (who is one of the biggest money and drama-hungry charlatans I have seen) came on to WKW and openly chided her and Tina/Shalin for their antics. Now this itself is unprecedented. In all my years of BB watching, they've never had a contestant's parent come on and give them a warning with Salman in attendance.

Time passes. Sumbul keeps on with her low-key, unwilling participation in the show. Salman again and again chides her for it. And then he delivers a banger while scolding her. He says, you rarely do anything, but still your antics are talked about all the time. In other words, she is the catalyst in the chemical explosions that happen in the house and outside.😆That set off the alarm bells in my head.😃

Then Tina and Shalin turn against her. But Sumbul continues to latch on to them, despite the occasional argument. Result- Sumbul has now crossed 50 days and counting in BB, is now getting second place in the MyGlamm contest.

Her father then makes a phone call to her under the guise of being ill. They don't even do small talk about his health🤔 He makes it a point to tell her that her friend Fahmaan is very trustworthy, unlike her present company (incidentally, her friend is now doing a fiction show on Colors😛). He goes on to berate Tina and Shalin in the most cheap way possible. BB allows the convo to play out in its entirety for about 10 mins, and then tells Sumbul that the convo was uncalled for.😆

The phone call sets off chatter in the outside world about her being allowed this insight. Her father's remarks also gets the limelight with Shalin and Tina's parents jumping in the fray, with them poised to enter in WKW. 😲🤣

And then, BB plays reverse uno and is perhaps showing the phone call details to ShaTina, as is deducible from the promo🥱😆 Causing a lot of hungama and drama again.

As a reprieve to this relentless fireworks, Sumbul's khaas dost, who is co-incidentally doing a Colors show, becomes the wild-card for maybe a week to promote his show on BB16 with its 1.6-1.8 ratings😈 At the same time, Sumbul gets some succour to refresh herself as well, and maybe news from the outside world too😆

So much of onscreen and offscreen drama revolving around Sumbul. Her innocent bachi avatar. Papa gets to lecture his pari on frequent basis. Causes a hungama inside and outside the house. People talk and trend on Twitter for and against her. Even trending for her papa😳And she wins sympathy for being the bechari while not contributing significantly to the tasks. It is quite probable that she won't go out this week despite being nominated by fellow housemates for the nth time.

All I can tell my fellow viewers is...

Good to know someone else is being able to see beyond the bechaargi Olympics being conducted by Papa-Beti😆

I've also been saying since some days now ki while people are busy oscillating between calling her dumb or sympathizing with her, yeh ladki show ke halfway mark pe pahunch gayi hai doing nothing other than playing confused bechaari😆

With ample support from the show makers ofcourse😆....her behavior is just so bizarre whether it is her clinging to Shalin or the way she tries to charge people like a bull during her psycho fits.....lol channel waale obviously content ke liye milk karenge hi. She's like a running freak show for the channel to milk quite possibly all the way to the finale. Papa-Beti ka toh full try hai😆.....

The moment Fahmaan was mentioned in the phone call, it was quite obvious it was a setup for him to enter the show soon as yet another "counseling" session for eternal abla and maasoom "bacchi"😆.

Bechaargi drama now sells well beyond the average fiction ITV show also looks like....just see the amount of people sitting around to do "haaye bechaari, she's a hapless teenager and baaki sab paapi log iska faayda uthaate huye"😆.

And the confident with which her pappa said ki we will make you win and get you the votes ... That itself sounded so fishy

Haha, you were right AY. I was just puzzled by what to make of this girl. She is curiously doing nothing, but still manages to draw all the limelight. She is doing this bechaargi drama well, inspired from her TV soap...and even her normal way of saying something is so dramatic

People are calling him out, while he is saying he was not fully conscious while making the call😳

Yeh Sumbul, uska papa, uske dost...sabke sab nautanki. I am now thinking that it was a calculated decision on her dad's part to send her to BB after her hit show got over. They seem to have strategised everything, along with him running a parallel BB house outside. And they will laugh all the way to the bank!

And yes, the makers are also extending full support to this dramatic duo. They are getting attention for the show which is one of the most top-rated in the recent seasons. They are also showing their "moral responsibility" while chiding her. They are creating a narrative where the hapless Sumbul is persecuted and betrayed by her cunning friends.🤪 I know Shalin and Tina are no saints, they are equally playing to the camera, but Sumbul is hardly the innocent lamb they portray her to be. And cherry on top, they are also promoting their fiction show as an extension of this BB drama!

Exactly, both the daughter-father duo and BB makers are hand in glove with each other. Despite being barely performing on the show, she has managed to stick on, while better performers like Gori and Gautam have left.

She is definitely going to be one of the finalists if not the winner😆 I guess the winner will be Priyanka though- the rivalry of Pri/Archana v/s bully gang- that's the dominant narrative. She is the side character that keeps the audience engaged on odd days.🤣

And keeping the focus on Sumbul v/s ShaTina also allows the makers to avert our eyes from the Sajid and Bully Gang drama...That's why Salman focuses on Sumbul instead of rightly calling out Sajid, Shiv, Abdu et al for their dadagiri and badtameezi.

@bold2: Exactly....they are basically running this as an extension of Sumbul's greatest claim to fame - playing bechaari gaaon waali Imlie who was persecuted by paapi sheheri log whom she considered family😆......just one tiny problem for her - BB ki script isn't that good for her acting skills to be convincing in selling the bechaargi here😆. Do din pehle mile logon ko best friend bolke she is trying to play her bechaari doormat act by using them as a foil😆.....and they are also readily obliging by treating her like shit. LOL script toh puri tayyar hai for ST to imagine herself as the abla heroine of this story fighting her lone battles kabhi with aansoo, kabhi with "panic attacks" waali bull charging....lol....and I guess it's working on some people since I read people flipping every alternate day into feeling sorry for "bechaari teenager"😆.

It's not working on me since I'm heartless like that *shrugs*😛😆.....also the fact that a girl who otherwise happily bitches about other girls and slanders their reputation doesn't get to cry victim about her own reputation being affected. Double standards and all that jazz as they say.

@bold: LOL I think part of it is also that I've followed her work longer than you na, Amri.....I've watched her IVs from way back when Papa was just a mention in her IVs as her life inspiration and mysteriously never around while she slogged away as a working teen practically living on her show's sets. I already gave her and her father benefit of doubt back then that it must be some extenuating circumstances for a father to be never around while his 17 year old daughter is living alone in Mumbai with her sister.

But now both father-daughter have decided to udaado dhajjiyaan of their reputation with their own hands, toh aur kitna hi benefit of doubt de lein hum....lol ek saal dekar kaafi time waste kar diya already. Ab jo aakhon ke saamne hai, woh obvious hai. They both prove themselves to be bigger nautankis day by day.....the constant victim playing and playing dumb if your behavior is called out....lol yeah I have no patience for that bakwaas anymore.
