Part 22
M- Coffee peete hain
Maan tells the man, pulling him inside the house and locking the door
Zor se mixer chala deta hai after locking the door
Guy – ehh
Maan stares at the guy
M- cheeni grind kar raha hoon. Coffee ke liye
Maan takes out a hammer from his bag and casually puts it on his back pocket
Guy- what will you do to me?
Maan turns
Shrugs
M- I would have spread a plastic on the floor if I wanted to do anything. Cleaning up is a headache.
Maan coffee rakhta hai
M- Don’t force me to do something I really don’t want to do
That guy becomes pale
Guy- you... you...will …
M- As I said, Abhijeet. Don’t make me do stuff I don’t like!! You will not be seen around here
The guy gulps
Guy- What will you do? You will kill me too? Like your father killed those innocent people. Son of a serial killer would be a killer too. Your family fled from there, everybody thought you disappeared. I didn't expect you will resurface like this
Maan’s jaw gets clenched hearing the guy
Abhijeet- I am a reporter. People will come looking for me if you harm me. And then they will start looking into your past

Geet comes home in the evening
Maan opens the door
She puts her purse and looks around
G- Mere liye koi aaya tha kya?
Geet asks, as if she was expecting someone.
M- Koi aane wala tha kya?
Maan answers calmly
She brushes it off saying:
G- Nahi just a delivery
She wonders the reporter she was expecting why didn’t he turn up
She changes and goes to the kitchen
She is surprised to see the kitchen overflowing with groceries
G- Ye itna saaman?
M- Yeah, I thought I will help you with groceries
He answers while walking towards the kitchen and standing leaning on the wall at the entrance of the kitchen behind her
G- Par itne samaan ki zarurat nahi thi
She says while trying to sound less rude than before as she felt that she had been snapping unnecessarily at him
She could at least be civil with him like he is to her
He shrugs
M- Mere paas tumhara number nahi tha, warna main pooch leta kya chahiye
Maan indirectly asks for her number again
She nods and finally shares her number with him

Next Day:
Geer is in her office, working
Her phone beeps, it’s a text message
She doesn’t bother to check as nobody usually texts her
Her phone again beeps few more number of times
Geet ignores thinking, must be some spam message
Her colleague’s had their ears perked up
Finally, her phone rings
G- Hello
Its Maan on the other side
M- Maan bol raha hoon
G- Haan pata hai, bolo
M- Maine message kiya tha
G- Oh tumne message kiya tha kya, maine check nahi kiya
M- Tumne reply nahi kiya toh call kiya
G- Haan bolo?
M- Main bahar jaa raha hoon. Ghar ke liye kuch chahiye kya?
G- Ghar ke liye…nahi…ghar pe sab kuch hai. Kal bohot samaan le aaye the tum
M- Okay, kuch ho toh bataana
G- Haan, kuch yaad aayega toh call karlungi
M- Cool. Bye
G- Bye
Geet hangs up the phone and looks around to see her colleagues looking at her
‘Geet, kisse baat kar rahi thi?’
‘Tumhare husband aa gayein?’
‘Unse hi baat kar rahi thi naa’
‘Haan, usually aise kisse baat karogi’
‘Waise toh tumhare koi call nahi aate’
Everybody is looking at Geet for an answer
Geet glances at everyone
G- Haan
She finally had to admit
‘ “Haan”, haan kya? Tumhare husband the call pe?’
G- Haan
‘Arre kabhi milao unse’
Geet nods

Kaam karte karte shaam ho gayi
‘Arre Geet tum nikli nahi’
G- Abhi toh 5 hi baje hain. Abhi kyun nikalna hai?
‘Hum log sab nikal rahe hain. Tumne suna nahi toofan aane wala hai, poore sheher mein red alert laga diya hai’
‘Maine toh apne husband ko bula liyya hai, woh pick kar rahe hain mujhe. Tum bhi apne husband ko bula lo’
‘Haan, waise bhi tum durr rehti ho, raaste mein kuch jhamele mein padh gai toh’
G- Aap log jao. Mera kaam pending hai. Main manage kar lungi
Itne din manage kiya hai. Ab kyun kisi ko bullaun, Geet thinks to herself
