New Delhi: A week passed since Aamir Khan’s latest venture ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ made its way to the theatres. Filmed in the direction of Advait Chandan, the movie has proved to be a disaster at the box office, and if reports are to be believed, Khan has suffered yet another setback.

Several news reports claimed that the remake of award-winning Hollywood film ‘Forrest Gump’ is not getting platforms to stream on OTT as its deal with digital giant Netflix has also been called off.

Surprisingly, the film has executed a business of merely Rs 51.60 crores in 9 days at the BO, and it seems like Khan would have to take a digital deal for his film on a negligible price.

Prior to its release, it was believed that this film featuring Aamir, Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh in the lead roles would prove to be the biggest hit of the year.

Khan was even sure that his film would be able to earn over Rs 300 crore in the country. Though, the calls for a boycott against the film and the negativity regarding it being just a plain copy of Forrest Gump impacted it to the extremes.

Here’s what happened

According to a report by news daily ‘Bollywood Hungama’, the conversation between the makers of LSC and streaming platform Netflix had reached to an advanced level, but it was later called off since Aamir was asking for a huge amount of Rs 150 crore in pretext of the digital rights of his film.

The report quoted a source saying, “Aamir Khan was very excited to release the film on Netflix as it is a global platform and has over than 200 million subscribers”.

Aamir had demanded Rs 150 crore for this. The actor had full hopes that his film would earn a bumper at the box office. Along with this, he also had a condition that ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ should be released after 6 months of its release in theatres”, the source added.

Isn't it old news? Aamir tried his best that Netflix buys it since he wanted to reach a certain type of audience (Read, elitist type of classist audience) but Netflix offered them less than Darlings and Gehraiyaan. So the Ambanis would release it on their own OTT platform Voot.

Fake Article. OTT Deals are made Pre-release. Those who have seen film can tell us on which platform it is coming.
