As IIMs provide a general MBA degree and not specialized in any domain i.e International Business(IB), Human Resource(HR), etc thus it follows a particular method of course allocation. 

In the first year i.e the first 3 semesters all the subjects and in your second year you can select majors(5 subjects of a particular domain), minors(3 subjects of a particular domain) as per your preference.

 You have to select both compulsory and electives, across diverse areas, including Operations, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources etc.
