Interesting topic considering almost all ITV marriages follow such trends as Neha mentioned. An addition to the ones that she has already mentioned is the "majboori wala/honour marriage" where either the male or the female (mostly) are emotionally blackmailed by family members (typically parents) to such an extent that they become the replacement bride or groom because the family's pretence honour is now in their hands. Also, this is also done by throwing indirect suicidal threats by family members. Slow claps to such marriages. Trying not to be too harsh about it but marriage is a joke in the ITV world and I can say for sure that it has indeed successfully instilled fear in my head. The gamophobia is real, folks and yes, ITV does have that effect on people irrespective of how old and mature one may think they are. Some things are bound to trigger your core thoughts.

100 % true... for silly matters she may walk out f marriage ... and for big issues.. like forcing on her... torturing her... she will be a silent dummy ðŸ˜¡

I fear ITV industry doesn't takes the consent for marriage seriously. It is always over ridden by claiming marriage is god made and your consent is not required .

In truth ITV audience are considered as too conservative to just see love stories for a long time. It is like you can't show male lead and female lead dating for over 100 episodes without marriage because it would not draw audiences.

But get them fake married, force married, revenge married, or even married for xyz person instead of themselves then you can write their love story ðŸ˜†.

ITV writers believe Marriage is the seal of approval rating for all kinds of romance and dramas.

You can't stay with a abusive boyfriend.

But abusive husband are a different specimen you can't leave them because either

(1) they married you for revenge and get to be abusive or

(2) they were forced to marry you and get to be abusive or

(3) you have to stay in the marriage and change them from being abusive into loving you because ou got married to them

Aval Oru Thodar Kathai, [Tamil]  Antuleni Katha [Telugu] are the best examples.

Isn't the audience to be blamed here too?

They lap up anything and everything that is dished out before them.

Yes nowadays marriage is the centre of attraction for tv seriels... If there is a love story going on then very they have marry otherwise every person of these two lover's family will make their life a living hell... something like now going on "Kabhi kabhie ittefaq sey". at the very first there is no love only cute scenes of family and the two leads but when they realised their love for each other they are separated by their family. Now they are feeling living hell and can't say it or solve it...I mean what in 21 century a unwanted marriage can make you that much of depressed and can make you believe things like your love is right or wrong for you by family pressure. Make you waste all your Strength and potential of growing with your Right loved ones and India will be depressed one by one..
