Countries like France, Spain, Italy, UK locked down and the cases increased after a while meanwhile countries like Sweden and Pakistan did not and the cases are almost decreasing (at least in Sweden)

Cases increased after they started re-opening up after lock down.  They opened too soon and they're getting the second wave.  Also not enough enforcement and compliance of wearing masks like Japan and South Korea.

Sweden wound up with significantly more cases and fatalities than other Scandinavian counties which had lock downs

Look at the U.S..   The Northeast had lock down, people wore masks and numbers have plummeted.  Even so NYC still haven't opened theaters etc because they want to stop a second wave like Europe is experiencing.   But other states - primarily in the South had short belated lock down periods and didn't take wearing masks seriously (following the stupid Trump playbook) and their numbers are still high and in some states still escalating.

But now they dont have a lot of cases coming in. They achieved herd immunity already and can't get virus. These lockdowns only delay the inevitable not stop them. Virus wont go away unless you get immune to it and even vaccines are ages away atm

They might have developed herd immunity through higher death rates.    I'm not sure why that's considered a plus.     21x more people died in Sweden than Norway.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1113834/cumulative-coronavirus-deaths-in-the-nordics/

When he US was actually practicing lock down across the nation, deaths were projected to hit around 60,000 (even that could have been avoided if the Fed gov't acting quicker and more competently) .  But so many states opened too soon and now the death rate is over 200,000 and growing and will pass 300,000 before the end of the year - all while dragging it out longer and also hurting the economy more.  If their was no lock down at all deaths would probably have been in the millions.

Doesn’t the herd immunity theory go out the window when there’s been cases of reinfection?

In the UK lockdown is a joke. The PM is adamant on opening schools children and teachers are at risk. Schools have been open since around June

Sweden is the most populated country among the Nordic countries, with more elderly population

Yes the no.of deaths due to the Wuhan virus is higher, most of them the elderly... This is where Sweden faltered, it failed to protect it’s elderly population

Still it’s much much less than countries like UK, Spain, France (not to mention Italy) where strict lockdowns were imposed early

Now cases and deaths are almost nil in Sweden while these countries (and other European countries) are experiencing second wave. Spain had 12,000 cases in one day recently

And the economy didn’t collapse not to mention the mental health

Lol not sure I fully get all the hate BoJo gets. Kids are the most likely to recover no? Ofc some people live with parents/grandparents who are shielding/vulnerable can spread the virus, it’s not a foolproof plan but is anything atm? Does the government just scrap exams again this year?

Why does California which imposed strict lockdown early had so many cases (still has) and deaths, then? It’s no1 in the country right now although still under lockdown until August

(Nancy Pelosi’s Sep 2 salon visit to get her hair done was a violation

All salons were under lockdown and common people were not allowed to visit salons or churches... No mass gatherings except of course peaceful protests)

In New York, New Jersey (and some other states) they finished off the elderly population by sending Wuhan virus patients to the old age homes... The March 25 order by Governor Andrew Cuomo ushered more than (by the state’s own count) 6,3000 virus patients into the old age home..

Thousands of elderly people needlessly died bcz of this...

Could it be the reason now cases are not increasing

The protests with thousands of people gathered in close proximity might have helped with the herd immunity if such thing exists

It didn’t spread the virus, the state gov. says 😛

Doesn’t the protests itself blow the isolation, social distancing, lockdown theories out of the window?

i have no idea. me, the husband, the grown up adult kids all stuck at home and two of us still working and trying to get them to do something. My youngest is 17 and he is back from college and doing remote learning and the stupid college is charging the same fees.

Not to mention it is election season, my husband is die hard Trump supporter and my kids are more Bernie types. It is like watching Fox News and CNN blaring at  each other. Not fun at all. I guess it is better than people who have business that are bankrupted.

Aaah the old days in india, where you worried about food, medicine costs, running water, functioning toilets!
