Chapter24 Past And Present
Mini didn’t know since how long she has been crying. She didn’t know when she reached home and how she got into her bed. She didn’t remember anything after she saw Neil. It was like her past was standing in front of her, mocking her for her present state. In all these years where she had convinced herself that she is a strong girl and she doesn’t care if Neil Oberoi existed in this world or not, today time has slapped her in its most cruel way and her pretense crumbled in seconds.
“Veerbalika, please stop crying. I am sorry but I thought I am helping you two, I didn’t know it will affect you in this way.” Arya apologized.
Before Arya could have said anything more or have communicated with Neil, both Mini and Neil declared their hatred for each other and went from there leaving her astonished and confused. She had no other option but to follow her veer balika. Since then veerbalika was just crying in her room.
“Your wish is finally fulfilled. Congrats chhutanki. Neil is finally here, here to sprinkle salt on our wounds, here to laugh at our situation.” Mini said in anger.
“Will you just stop talking in riddles? Enough of your suspense drama. I want all answers today. What exactly happened between you two?” Arya asked in frustration.
“Why don’t you go and ask your Neil?” Mini taunted.
“Fine! I will now do that only.” Arya replied in challenging tone and even moved towards the door when Mini gasped and stopped her. “Wait, how dare you go to him?” She questioned.
“Then you tell me everything right now.” Arya demanded and Mini could see the determination in her eyes. She finally agreed and opened up to her about her break up.
“That time when you were in the hospital and papa and I were going to the hospital to collect your reports, I received a call from Yash Oberoi. He said he wanted to talk about something important and its very urgent. So I told dad to go to the hospital alone and I went to meet Yash uncle.” Mini started telling her version of the story.
Flashback-
Mini entered Oberoi Mansion. Servant told her that Yash was waiting for her in the study. She nervously went to the study room and greeted Yash, "Hello uncle, you said you wanted to talk to me." Yash turned towards her with a fake smile and asked her, "How are you Mini?" Mini politely replied,I am fine uncle...before she could say anything Yash asked her sarcastically, "Just fine Mini...I thought you would be feeling great after what you have done." Mini was confused, "great...but what I have done?" Yash said rudely, "Oh really you want me to say your cheap acts with my tongue...how shameless are you? Mini was hurt by his words, "what are you saying uncle, what cheap act I have done?
Yash smirked, "Acting innocent are we? I must agree you have the guts to stand here and ask me this after trapping my son in your false love."
"What...what are you saying uncle...trap your son...Neil...I Love Neil uncle...we both love each other.
"I am not a fool like my son who will fall for your drama...I should have known it...the day you met Neil at my party you father and daughter must have planned that day itself to trap Neil so that you can become equal partners with us not only in Oberoi pharma but also in our other businesses."
"SHUT UP Mr. Yash Oberoi...only you can say such cheap things...and you are calling me cheap. Oh God! Neil was always right about you...you are nothing but a selfish, arrogant man who know nothing except money...I was so stupid...whenever you two have fight I always tried to make him understand your POV...but now I understand why he hates you so much." Mini replied.
"Oh just stop your drama...you did this for money right...tell me whatever you want….money, equal partnership, what? But forget about Neil." Yash asked.
Mini looked at Yash angrily. "my love is not for sale...I am not money hungry like you" she was disgusted with his accusation and wanted to leave from there as soon as possible. But Yash words stopped her from leaving.
Yash spoke with evil smile, "In that case, you left me with no option other than handing over Hanuman to police."
She turned towards him confused, "what do you mean by that?"
"However much smart your father is Mini but he can never beat Yash Oberoi in that...you must be wondering now a days what happening in Oberoi Pharma...all this insider trading news and why Mr. Gupta, one of the director in our company, did this and who is involved with him...right. Well well...I am the master mind of all this scandal. Gupta did what I had asked him to do. But now I will give Hanuman's name to the CBI cops."
Mini was shell shocked...so Yash Oberoi was behind the fraud. "what do you mean you will give dad's name...who will believe you?
Mini Mini Mini...I have done all the fraud but I did it through my puppet Gupta and as far as the documentary evidences are concerned...I have not signed anywhere. I took good care not to involve my name anywhere officially...and the great news is as Hanuman was executive director...I have made him sign everywhere...and he is so stupid that he blindly followed my instructions.
Mini couldn't believe her ears...this man...how mean he can be...how could he do this to her father. She also remembered the time when she was intern in the company and often would ask Hanuman to take extra care before signing any documents and not to trust anyone blindly. Now the results of that blind trust were out. "Why Mr. Oberoi...why did you do this...what my dad did to you?”
"Why I did this...well...to make money by inflating share prices and getting monopoly in the market by launching new drug first. I didn’t know that the scam will catch media’s attention and Hanuman didn't do anything to me but I had to save myself so I had to blame it on someone else...earlier I didn't want to drag Hanuman into this but since you are hell bent on ruining your n your family's life...I have no other option." Yash informed.
"NO...please don't do this...what do you want form me?" Mini pleaded.
"Leave Neil and make him believe that you trapped him for his money" Yash said clearly.
"NEVER...I will never do that" Mini didn’t agree.
"Then I have to give Hanuman's name to CBI cops. I have already convinced Gupta for taking Hanuman's name I think you are not getting the seriousness of the mess you and your father are in. you know once Hanuman will be arrested your family's reputation...your father's pride...everything will be ruined forever. You can't even imagine how cops will torture him while questioning. How much amount the court will amount as penalty on Hanuman...you will come on road...n forget penalty...do you know how many years of imprisonment will he get? Everything will be finished Mini."
As Mini realized the gravity of the consequences that will follow...she was at loss of words...she was not sure what to say. She just looked at Yash, fear was clearly seen in her eyes.
Seeing her horror struck face Yash smirked evilly in victory. "Now you are thinking Mini...everything will be finished on my one call but if you will do as I say, I will not give Hanuman's name." seeing Mini listening to him he continued, I will send Neil to you ...you have to convince him that you never loved him. You were only after his money...you have time till then...you can think how you will break his heart n how you will convince him for this...you can go now...remember...Hanuman's life, reputation...everythingis in my hands. If you didn't do this...the v police will be at your door step to arrest Hanuman n I will make sure that he don't even get bail.
Mini just couldn't stand there anymore. She ran from there. She cant even bear to stand in the same room with that disgusted man. She closed her eyes in pain n Neil's face came before them...his smiling face...Neil...her Neil...she remembered once she played a prank on him saying she doesn't love him n how he reacted...NO...she can never do this to Neil...to their love. She wiped her tears yet again n opened her eyes which reflected determination...she said to herself with confidence...do whatever you want to do Mr. Oberoi...I will never leave Neil...I won't cheat my love...never...ever.
But Mini didn’t know fate has some other plan for her. She reached hospital where her father Hanuman was already there with Arya’s reports. He looked broken. It was clear he had been crying. Mini rushed towards him.
“What happened dad?” Mini asked.
Hanuman gave her Arya’s reports and told her that she was suffering from life threatening kidney disease and her conditions was deteriorating with every passing day. She doesn’t have much time before she will be needing a kidney transplant. That’s the only way to save her.
Mini was taken aback. She felt like suddenly everything in her life was going upside down. Problems were coming from all the directions and she was trapped between them.
“Doctor Jay Sinha, will be handling Arya’s case now and he has called us for briefing.I think we should go in.” Hanuman informed Mini.
“Dr,Jay Sinha? The name strike something in Mini’s mind and when she saw the person she recognized him immediately. He was her classmate. He recognized her too.Soon the mere relationship of doctor and patient’s relative acquired a friendly and personal touch and both Mini and Hanuman were relieved to know that someone is there who is not only the expert of the field but they can also depend on him.
As they chatted for a while Mini came to know that Jay is engaged with some Pooja and and will soon get married. He also showed her the engagement pic. Dr. Jay discussed Arya’s case in details and let them know the chances of recovery. He suggested them there is Dr. Steven from Australia, who is a world renowned specialist and he will be visiting Banglore tomorrow.
“Its very difficult to get his appointment normally. He is our last hope. So if you can manage to meet him somehow then the chances of Arya’s recovery will be very high.” Jay informed them. Hanuman and Mini instantly agreed and Dr. Jay somehow was successful to get an appointment for tomorrow.
Hanuman and Mini was going back home when she received Yash’s message.
“What have you decided Mini?” Mini read it and realized that what cruel game fate has played with her. If she doesn’t agree to whatever Yash said then Hanuman will be arrested tomorrow morning. It means he will not be able to meet Dr. Steven in Banglore. And don’t know when he will be free from these false charges. Till then Arya’s condition will further deteriorate. Every day, every minute was important for them if they wanted to save Arya. Right now, Arya needed Hanuman, her family needed Hanuman and for that he should be protected at any cost. She would never be able to forgive herself if anything happened to Arya or Hanuman because of her.
“But what about Neil and your love?” How can you do this to Neil? And he wont believe you even if you say that you don’t love him. How will you prove that?” Her heart was filled with questions.
“Desperate times calls for desperate measures.” Her mind answered. “Jay…your childhood friend, that engagement pic…remember…it can be photo shopped, use it and prove that you have moved on with someone else.” Her mind solved the problem.
“No,Neil…he will be shattered.” Her heart pleaded.
“Its just the matter of few days. Once this corporate scam thing dies down and Hanuman returns from Banglore than you can clear the misunderstanding with him. He loves you so much. Definitely, he will wait for few days for you. He is not running anywhere.” Her mind tried to convince her.
“But ,I can also share everything with Neil. He will support me, understand my problems.” Her heart suggested.
“You know how he is. Neil hates his dad. If he came to know he wont keep quiet. He is emotional, he will fight with his dad and Yash Oberoi can get your father arrested for revenge. No, its better to keep him in dark. Its just the matter of few days. Come one be strong. You have to pull this up for your dad and Arya’s sake.” Her mind finally won and took the decision.
Flashback ends
“But that doesn’t answer my questions. According to this, it was your fault. Yes, you did it because you were helpless but then how come you blame Neil for our situation?” Arya asked getting more confused.
“Because once you and dad returned from Banglore, I was going to clear the misunderstandings with Neil. When I called Neil, he asked me to come to his house. There, I witnessed his engagement with Isha. And you know what….he was looking happy with her. I thought that he would fall apart because of our breakup and I was dying from inside thinking about him and how badly I crushed his heart. I was worried and was praying that please make Neil strong, he shouldn’t do anything stupid like self harm but I was a fool to think like that. He forgot me in just few days. Moved on and got engaged with Isha. That was his love? So shallow?” Mini told Arya.
Flashback-
"Neil, how could you just move on from me?" Mini asked in the party.
"Why? only you have right to dump me and move on with the very first rich guy you find?" Neil taunted.
"Neil, you dont know anything...its was just..." Mini tried to explain but Neil was blinded by anger, jealousy. He didnt let her complete. "You dont know anything Mini. You dont know anything about love. Isha is ready to accept me even after knowing that I love you. She is not like you, cheap and opportunistic." Neil taunted.
"Neil what I did was because...." Mini tried to say the truth but Isha was quick in response. "Neil baby, ye ladki abhi tak yaha kya kar rahi hai? Tum ise dikhana chahte the ki tum mere sath kitne khush ho. Ab dafa karo ise yaha se." Isha called the servants who threw Mini out from there. She witnessed Neil exchanged ring with Isha and they kissed each other. Mini couldnt stand there anymore.
Flashback ends
“What?I dont believe.” Arya commented.
“Mujhe bhi yakeen nahi hua tha. I confronted him lekin phir usne sabke samne meri nsult ki. He showed how happy he was as he realized in time that I was just a gold digger. I would have forgotten that also but next day what he did….he ruined us.” Mini informed.
“How?”Arya asked.
“I doubted that even though I broke up with Neil, Yash uncle could still frame our father so I started collecting evidence against him. The share market trader who leaked insider information. I found him and he was also ready to give evidence against him. I was elated. I thought now I will give it back to that Yash Oberoi. I shared the information with police. They started procedure for arresting him. But on the very day of arrest, that agent flipped his statement.And to my utter shock, Yash Oberoi had indeed framed our dad by then with written proofs he had and in addition to it, someone gave false statement to police against our dad that he had indeed seen him and me many times with that agent, you know who was he? Your Great Neil Oberoi.” Mini explained.
"what? Why he did that?" Arya asked.
“To take revenge from me. What else? I agree that I broke his heart but he, who claimed to love me till the end of this world, couldn’t even wait for few days for me and got engaged to someone else happily then to get back to me, he even gave false evidence against our dad. Rest of the story, you know very well.That case brought us on the road. Dad couldn’t face that shame. His health started deteriorating slowly and he succumbed to the mental pressure, he died of heart attack and mom couldn’t cope up with his death, she left us too after sometime. All because of that man, that Neil Oberoi.” Mini finished her version of story which left Arya shocked.
“Veerbalika, if Neil did all this to take revenge then why he didn’t look happy after it? Why there was same pain in his eyes which is in yours?” Arya asked coming out of shock, still it was difficult for her to believe Neil could have done anything like that without any strong reason. But how will she find out?
