I could not understand why Kunal was pointedly being mean towards Kuhu. It's rather unrealistic also because he didn't seem to have any reason for having such cold behaviour towards his wife.

After being away from the house for so long, he should rather be looking to make up to the wifey for his prolonged absence. He can be a lot more soft and caring towards her rather than being dismissive as though he doesn't want her to be around.

It's still early days for Avinash and though he might not be as nuanced an actor as Ritvik was, he is definitely a promising actor still and can have much more to offer to the role given that the writing imparts him the opportunity to sink his teeth into the role rather than superficially enacting how Kunal's mannerisms were.

From all the indication it does not seem like Kuhu and Kunal's story would have the same heft like it had in Season 1 (which is very disappointing yes) but they can still pay attention to small details and not show Kunal acting in an uncharacteristic manner with Kuhu.

I feel that one of the KuKu tracks would be Kunal having an affair and then the same repeat of Varsha-Shaurya story, now happening with Kuhu as well. No doubt Kunal is now a better brother, a changed devar and husband (a better person overall), but he has all those layers still that will be explored and exposed (if the writers don't end up sidelining him like it happens to most brothers of the hero in all shows). Maybe as a result of his upbringing, he is still more attached to his work than with emotions though he feels he needs to work long and hard for his family's well being. Maybe it isn't Avinash but the story that is directing Kunal to tone down that changed lover boy image after the lockdown to set the path for the upcoming KuKu track.

Maybe I'm overanalysing this. I hope all future tracks are just as interesting as the current one. Though I want more of Mishbir anyday, I hope KuKu don't get sidelined.

Haven't seen the episodes but I have heard about the Kuhu-Kunal scenes in vivid detail.

From what I can understand, it seems that Ritvik brought most of those little nuances and details to Kunal's character and went beyond what was written in the script, because the dialogues seem to indicate that writing is constant. And so, that level of depth would take time for anyone replacing him.

I saw a clip from Avinash's recent interview and he mentioned that he is still understanding the graph of the character so I have personally put him on a probationary period of a month, because after that the characterization would probably become more solid, and that would be his version of Kunal.

As much as I hope that Avinash's Kunal gets better and becomes more nuanced with time, there is a little part in me that is like, "Bring back Kunal 1.0 back and I won't mind forgetting that this ever happened", but I know I need to make peace with this and start seeing it as a different version/season of their story. KuKu story ended with Humma and now, it's time for KuhuNal.

Kunal absence for 3 months & absolutely no conversation with his wife during that period giving me warning signs. Is he cheating her? That will be totally 180° turnaround of Kunal's character from S1.

Oh I sincerely hope not. Kuhu has already been through a lot and they shouldn't throw a character under the bus simply because the actor playing the character changed.

@bold that makes perfect sense 👍🏼 It actually does feel like that for now. He is trying to get the mannerisms right but not quite into the nuances as yet (fair enough as he only just joined)

Am sure once he gets into the skin of the character even his version of the character would be interesting to watch.

@blue yep !!

Obviously we all want a happily ever after for MishBir and and KuhuNal but this is a TV show which I'm sure they're hoping to run as long as YRKKH. The actors would want to explore their acting and if the role gets too monotonous and stale, they might also want to leave. Happy KuhuNal would mean sidelining the characters/actors. Kunal already had his redemption which I think was shown beautifully over a period of what, 9-10 months? Kuhu having one too is definitely one of the storylines. BigBen is more obsessed with separating Mishti from Abir and is decidedly neutral about having Kuhu as her bahu (so far atleast). And honestly, all the viewers want to watch drama at the end of the day howmuchever they might want the couples to stay happy. So we need to be prepared for many heartbreaks, separations, rona-dhona, beautiful reunions. (One of the) End game(s) is definitely Mishti finding a family that truly accepts her (mainly her rakhshas saas) and Abir truly reconciling with his mom.

I promised myself that I would refrain from ranting on IF henceforth and spending my emotional energy needlessly, but I saw this thread, and I couldn't help myself. Maybe writing it out will help me come to terms with the fact that the show I had come to love over the past year with some of the most nuanced characters I've seen on ITV has been wasted away with sloppy writing.

This Kunal 2.0 is a lousy husband. I know it's only been two episodes in since he's made an appearance, but my god, he's terrible! It's like the writers have taken the flattest interpretation out there for his character and applied it to the writing (worships his bhai, bhabhi, and mother, is a workaholic, and has the emotional quotient of a rat). He starts off with snubbing Kuhu when he first comes, and then only pays attention to her when Mishti first gestures towards her, and then when she literally pulls them together. He snubs her again at the dinner table in front of his maami and mama, and before anyone says that it was justified because Kuhu fired a shot at Mishti, there were 100 other ways for Kunal to move on from the topic instead of berating her like an immature child (and did anyone see that look of anger/annoyance he shot Ketki at the dinner table? What the hell was that?). He snubs her again when he's talking to Abir later, and she comes over. I know that for Kunal, Abir has always come first, but don't tell me that this dude has stayed away from his wife for three months and did not miss seeing her. Like, please. He snubs her yet again at the boutique where they go wedding shopping, and that time was the most infuriating. Kuhu asked him a 100% valid question, and instead of getting all condescending about it, he could've taken five seconds to explain to her that he had to quarantine after getting back in the country. And wait! Last I checked, you were still allowed to have a phone with you when you quarantine, and you're telling me that Kunal did not even bother telling Kuhu that he had returned to India? And what does Kunal mean by Kuhu is always in "Kuhuland"? She's always thinking about him, Ketu's wedding, and the rest of the family! Dude, give me a break.

If the writers and actors are trying to sell all of this as "nok-jhok", then it's definitely not working, unless "nok-jhok" also means being rude, condescending, and putting on a show of a mulish superiority complex to put down your wife. This track has just proven that this show is incapable of selling a consistent narrative on what healthy relationships are supposed to look like. From Abir cutting Mishti off from the rest of his family in his bullheaded haste to "protect" her, to Kuhu being left to simmer in her own frustrations because god forbid a certain someone spends some time with her to listen to her and validate her feelings for once, this sasural of MishKu's is proving to be the most toxic hellhole I've ever seen.

This Kunal can be Abir's Nanko, Mishti's devar, Meenu's munna, Parul's beta, but he is not Kuhu's husband. Kuhu's husband would not treat her like an extreme inconvenience that he could not care less about. I have no idea who the hell he is.

Agree with your each word.I will not be surprised if he is shown as cheater who is having an affair & hiding. His behaviour validates it.

Such a stark contrast to how she looked when she saw he was back - she looked so happy. I didn't understand either. I'm still waiting to see if they show what happened between them. If he didn't like that she was ranting, he could have said so in a call to her. I just can't figure out what exactly he feels for Kuhu now. I'm hoping as the new actor gets into the character, it will show.
