Waise ald, m completely new to anime but interested. Suggest me something for beginners. I like comedy.
Hmm.. I'm bad at recommending, see SakthLaunda recommended a few already.. and Shy here is good at this, Shy - please help :p
I just realized I watched very few comedy anime shows/movies, but here are some of my favorites😃
~ Yuyushiki - this is a slice of life comedy surrounding three friends in high school - talking, that's all, there's no romance at all, but there's friendship. I've almost dropped it after episode 1, but it became one of my most favorites, a very feel-good anime.
~ Lucky Star - Similar to Yuyushiki, but far more popular, more ...*bright* and fast-paced. Yuyushiki is rather mellow. Slice of life school comedy, no romance.
~ I Cant Understand What My Husband's Saying - simple warm slice of life comedy featuring married couple.. I love it :)
~ Hetalia series - Personification of nations starring Italy, Germany, Japan (Axis powers :D) ..this is one of the cutest and most entertaining shows I've seen.. I love looking at stereotypes so I loved it.. each episode is mere 5 min or something. It can get a little hyper or too fast-paced, but is so entertaining..
~ Nodame Cantabile - A rom-com musical.. with two of my favorite main characters. A ditzy cute girl named Nodame loves her senior, Chiaki - a cold distant workaholic well-admired musician..
~ Gekkon Shoujo Nozaki-kun - Rom-com set in highschool... but not your usual rom-com ;) Never a boring moment.. This anime also features a girl who loves her senior(I think) that is too dense to see through her, apparently.. all the characters are entertaining.

I usually watch rom com. Too much depth , I don't like them.
1. Death note ( Not a rom-com but just epic. )
2. Skipbeat ( I bet you will like it.)
3. Akatsuki no Yona
4. My little monster
5. Inuxboku
Arre i find rom coms and chick flicks to have the least depth...aise hi timepass ke liye dekhu jyada dimaag na lagana pare
Thnx humming for ur suggestions... i will look all of them up😳

Thank you so much ald...
When i was a kid i used to watch whatever animes meant for kids i got on tv.... but anime now seems hebrew to me 😆
All of ur suggestions sound wonderful.... romance is not an absolute must but i love comedy.... there was a time when i was so influenced by how anime characters moved or dressed or did those cute faces or actions, i copied them.... but i just don't know from where to start now that i have grown up...i know i will end up getting addicted 😆
Thnx aagain angel 😊

Hi Angel 😊. I meant a Great in all of Cinema. Up there with the Bongs, Nolans and the Park Chan Wooks of the world. Not just anime. Although I am sure he was a nice person too.
Millennium Actress was very affecting for sure but didn't quite blow my mind like Perfect Blue and Paprika did with their atmosphere and inventiveness. Maybe I should revisit it.
Even though I liked Paprika more on the 1st time watch, Perfect Blue is the one that is the most intriguing of all his movies. Someone called it as Hitchcock meet Lynch and that is the perfect way to sell it to first time watchers 😉.
I recently downloaded Paranoia Agent and Tokyo Godfathers and hopefully should get around to watching them.
Btw, if you had to pick one of his movies as a favorite, which one would it be?
Oh yes, he's definitely up there! :) Have you seen Parasite, btw?
..Kon off-screen.. well, i deduced that from interviews :p
.. a lot of people rank Millennium Actress rather low.. I can see why, compared to Perfect Blue and Paprika.. Although all films deal with the subconscious and equally good film-making wise, the latter two are more compelling.
Yes, that's a way to sell it! :) ..Perfect Blue did remind me of Mulholland Dr when I first watched it.. but now, I can't really mix Satoshi Kon with anyone else, maybe there are directors similar to him.. :p
Give your reviews when you do watch them! 😃
Pick one as my favorite, oh.. I couldn't! All of them are..😃 maybe i like Perfect Blue a little lesser (only by a hairline difference) than Paprika and Millennium Actress. But between the two.. I couldn't pick one. ❤️😃 Also, they're the films I re-watched the most..
BTW, Inception or Paprika? :p

The simulated rape in Perfect Blue is one of the most disturbing scenes I have ever seen.
yes...
didn't expect the horror when I first watched it because in my head, it was an anime film.. the whole film was unsettling the first time..
Paprika opening scene is......... could be my most favorite.. the way it is shot aaaahhhhhh.
Perfect Blue is one of the greatest ending scenes of all times! :)
OMG, I have a very tragic memory of him.
Back in 2010 when Inception came out, there was a lot of mention about Paprika. The usual fanboys versus others, where the latter were of the opinion that Inception was copied from Paprika. It made me curious about the movie and I watched and loved it. Thanks to imdb and the discussions boards back then, I got to know about other stuff. Binge watched them all one by one. Finished everything and then August 24th happened 😭. I was so disturbed then as if his movies weren't enough.
A few years later revisited Perfect Blue when there was a buzz that 1 Nenokkadine might be an uncredited/loose remake of that. And that was the last I saw anything related to Satoshi Kon.

If you wish to, answer these questions, Cpt:)
What are your favorite scenes from his films?
What's your most favorite soundtrack?
What's your most favorite opening scene and ending scene?
Rank his films in order of your preference.
Yep. Saw Parasite as soon as it was available YKW 😉. I liked it a lot except for a couple of things that I wished were done differently. One of them being I wish we had spent more time with the family before they had started their "scheme". I mean Bong pretty much tells you what you need to know about their desperate financial condition as it is but still I would have liked more time with them. Won't say more because it gets into spoilerific territory. But Parasite clearly proves Bong must stay in Korea and make 100% Korean films instead of making international projects like Okja and Snowpiercer. Your views on Parasite and Bong Joon-ho in general?
On Film Twitter, I have seen a lot of people rank Millennium Actress really high and I get it but as a viewer I am really into atmospheric films which is why I rate Perfect Blue higher. Paprika though was a total joy ride where I was amazed by how bonkers (in a good way) it was.
I am struggling to come up with one favorite scene as it's been a while since I saw his movies but the most unforgettable one is certainly the simulated rape scene in Perfect Blue. Horrifying stuff. I also like some of the scenes in Mima's apartment purely for the sense of claustrophobia they evoke.
Favorite song would certainly be this one 👍🏼:

Favorite Ending/Opening scene? Hmm. Would need to rewatch his filmography for that.
My order of preference currently would be Perfect Blue > Paprika > Millenium Actress.
PS: Haven't seen Inception but I am sure it's trash compared to Paprika .
Joker Dekh li , not enough money ,not anyone to go with😆
review? :p
Why the signature, L.. :)
