Hello Cpt!:)
I can see what you mean by being given more time to spend with the family! I enjoyed it, it was the kind of thriller I was wanting to watch :) ..but, a little but :D ..I was a little put off by how, things just seemed to flow when they could've easily/naturally gone the other way. I find that little thing in cinema to be kind of a turn off for me.. not ruling out the probability though :D And, am not too keen on realism, IDK how to explain but, you know a couple of times where the family could've been caught but they just manage to slip away.. but still, the tension is so well created, and I still enjoyed it.. kept me at the edge of my seat :) ..and not to forget, the brilliant direction and cinematography.
Boon Jong-Ho... I've seen only Memories of Murder besides Parasite, and absolutely loved it! :) I remember after the movie was over, I just sat there staring at the screen hopelessly.. love it when movies do that to you. Is he your favorite Korean director??
I've seen v e r y few other Korean films..😃 have you seen I'm a Cyborg but That's OK?? It's one of my most favorites :) ..which one's your favorite Korean film/s? Is it Mother, if I remember well??
Ah I see, I agree about the atmosphere :) .. I watched Perfect Blue last weekend and have to admit, it's on par with Paprika and Millennium Actress now. :p .. I couldn't pick one from among the three.. such great films ❤️
Thankyou for answering my questions! :p
that's surprising, so you take your time to watch stuff instead going for the hype :p ..as for me I couldn't pick Inception over Paprika.. although I loved both ..Inception feels inferior, but I guess it is only natural because animation can achieve to do a lot more than live-in action can ever manage to.. :)
Have you seen Midsommar? I happened to watch it a couple of days ago, messed up my head.
Morning Angel :)
Glad to know you liked Parasite. I think I remember the sequences where the family could've have been caught but were able to escape. The way the family gets rid of the "obstacles" in their way is almost treated like a comic farce. I am not sure if that was the best way to go about it. Not that I have a better alternative. But it seemed like Bong wanted to rush through some of the stuff before the real drama starts when the Parks go for an outing.
Bong is not only my favorite Korean director but pretty much my favorite working director in any industry :) Just like you, I am a huge fan of Memories of Murder (my favorite film of all time) . Too bad he is never gonna top that movie.
I have seen Park Chan Wook's Vengeance Trilogy and Joint Security Area but not I'm a Cyborg but That's OK. Would you recommend it? My favorite Korean films other than Memories of Murder and Parasite would be The Host (Bong's 2nd best IMO), Mother (extraordinary performance by the lead actress) , Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Train to Busan.
Barking Dogs Never Bite and Chaser are pretty decent as well. Burning is the one I'd most probably watch next.
Good to see you bumping up your rating for Perfect Blue ;) And you're welcome.
Btw I get sucked in by the hype like anyone else 😃. I was there at a 6 AM morning FDFS at IMAX Wadala when TDKR released in 2012. This weekend I'd try to catch The Irishman at MAMI. For some reason though I have been putting off watching Inception even though I like most of Nolan's films in the noughties. I guess it has this "Oooh...this is so high concept" vibe that puts me off .
Haven't seen Midsommar. Is it out YKW?
My favourite is perfectblue. Total trippy n psychotic n mind boggling n scary tbh
