MeToo movement in Bollywood basically ended when it was decided Raju Hirani wouldn’t pay for his crime.  The likes of Patekar, Sajid Khan, and even Vikas Bhal are disposable.  But VCC Chopra’s favorite cash cow?  No way.  Around the time he was being seen at Ambani events you also noticed the media stopped writing articles about MeToo. Hirani attending the Ambani wedding was treated as if he was any other celeb at the big fat Indian wedding.  After that Vikas Bhal is seen attending brunch with Hrithik and Farah and their big gang of B list celebs. Sajid Khan has come out of hiding.  The only surprise here is that Aamir is brining all this media attention to it instead of doing it passive aggressively and sneakily like VCC Chopra or Hrithik or Farah Khan.

He was accused in 2014 not during the metoo movement last year. The case is in in court since 2014. As I said nothing has changed wrt the case apart from the metoo movement dying down. So how can you say nothing came out of it when the courts are yet to pass a verdict on the case.

Didn't know that but if it's been going on for so long, why hasn't he been convicted of anything?

Was there any proof for Hirani "commiting" a crime? People are too quick to ruin someone's career and reputation based on an accusation.

The victim was credible enough for VCC Chopra and his wife to let her stay at their house for two days, for them to drop Hirani’s name from ELKDT posters.  Everything was working towards getting an official complaint and then suddenly it all came to a stand still.  

You will seldom have proof in cases like this.  You listen to the victim and you report it to the police and if you can, investigate it independently.  You don’t call the richest family in India and ask them to invite Raju Hirani to their son’s wedding so he can be whitewashed. Of all the cases of MeToo in Bollywood this one is the most blatant case of just ignoring the problem and re-establishing the attacker.  God only knows what’s happened to the victim whether she was bought out or just threatened and shamed into silence.

It has come forward that journalist-turned-actress Tyagi was expelled from a news channel in 2004 for stealing money. It emerged that she had stolen the ATM card of news-anchor-turned-AAP party leader Shazia Ilmi and taken out money from the bank using her card.

A source close to Ilmi said, “She (Ilmi) used to anchor the 7pm news segment and Geetika would host the 10pm slot. They shared a make-up room and, often, Shazia would leave her bag there, not realizing that Geetika would fish out her ATM card from the bag and withdraw money from the bank. Obviously, Ilmi was alarmed that her card was being misused. She even filed a complaint with the management.”

Initially, Geetika denied the accusations but later owned up, the source added. “She was shown the CCTV footage that had caught her in the act and, immediately afterwards, she was asked to resign from the organization,” the source said.

 Ilmi, who is in London at present, confirmed this. “Yes, the incident you mentioned is true,” she said.

You can be a terrible person and still be sexually assaulted...  

I remember reading somewhere that we want our victims to be perfect before we start to believe them...

Proof is difficult but actual "attackers" often did it with many women and if there are a few accusing, it's basically proof enough. But in Hirani's case it was just one woman in a long career. That's not credible enough. Dropping Hirani's name for a while doesn't mean much since metoo gets a lot of attention and people are afraid of backlash.

I don't get why people immediately take the woman's side. There have been plenty of cases (only one woman accuses a dude) that have been proven wrong.

We don’t know that there aren’t other women whom Hirani didn’t attack.  First of all Bollywood came to his defense so quickly that it probably scared the victims.  Then suddenly he’s at high profile weddings being happy and smiling and everyone stopped reporting on it.  The icing on the cake is the man who sheltered his one vocal victim at his house for two days was now posing with him in pictures.  And you really think other victims would have been OK or willing to come forward after that?  VCC basically told the victim who stayed at his house and all his other victims “Fu€k you! I’m standing by Raju Hirani”.  

I completely disagree with your assessment that plenty of women lie.  Lying and making up an attack is extremely rare in these cases.  It’s just that almost always it’s a case of his words against hers and those are hard to prove.  A lot of people take the fact that a case cannot go anywhere in a court of law as a sign of innocence.  Not true.  People also think a women refusing to come forward or refusing to testify in court is a sign of lying.  Again not true.  

Women are believed because a woman gets extremely scrutinized and stigmatized by everyone around her for coming forward.  No one willingly puts themselves through that.  And again, statistics show that making it up is extremely rare so it’s a simple fact that odds of a woman telling the truth are very high.  I believe the woman and think Hirani is guilty.  The fact that he and his PR and VCC resorted to PR and manipulative whitewashing instead of trying to present his side and counter argue only cements my belief.  If he had even a shred of evidence that he’s innocent or that the woman is lying he would presented it and shouted it from the rooftops.  Instead he went to weddings and posed for pictures.

Either way there is no proof and her credibility is hurt by her past actions. The problem is people automatically believing every accusation, who cares about innocent until proven guilty. Now it's guilty because  women can't lie

We don't know, that's the issue. If more did come forward when she accused him things would look differently now. I think it's more likely that VCC realized that her accusations were baseless (and no one else accused him) and didn't want to support her anymore. 

Just a while ago there was one woman who accused the famous football player Neymar of rape, everyone was already trashing him and acting like it's a fact until he brought proof. Just one case out of many, I can look them up if you want but a lot of these cases are less known because it makes the metoo movement look weak.

Unless Hirani has proof (which he doesn't and it's difficult for the accused to have proof in these situations too) it wouldn't have meant shit to come forward and present his side. In these cases the woman is always believed.
