(very good Paying guest) arrangement
It was a
difficult evening, she missed her stolen Oreos, he was tired it appeared
She was
showered and making food in the kitchen when he returned from his run
The sound
of the cooker made Toast go into a tizzy
"He hates
that Avyaan mentioned, whistling
As the
dog scrambled back to the living room
"I need
to cook something in it every hour she muttered
He hadn't
followed the dog, and had heard it

nothing!" she mumbled
He grabbed
her wrist and turned her toward him

that I would pressure cook something all the time"😆
He burst
out laughing
"You hate

him to fear me she said simply

laughed harder

just him do or would you like for me to fear you also?

saying he shook his head and left her alone
She had
made south Indian dal and a bhindi "gojju basically with garlic and tomatoes
He didn't
bother to help or ask questions
She took
it to the dining table and he joined her to eat
"Good he
muttered digging into the bhindi
"Too much
ginger? she enquired
"No... its
fine" he muttered
"Why aren't
you talking? she asked
He sighed
The dog
had emptied his bowl and was snoozing under the table waiting for human gods to
drop crumbs

"Oh she
felt embarrassed
"U have
seen me talk a lot haven't you he asked

lot... but normally she nodded
He
chuckled
"U know...
"Did u
guys eat dinner together every nite?
She went
somber

sorry... not when he was deployed obviously?
"Umm..
even otherwise, since he was in a some elite task force, they would plan
missions even while in Bangalore

live with your parents?
"Umm.. no...
he only spoke Hindi... she said

grinned

he teased

my Mom and Dad speak English... but he said I wud always talk in Kannada and he
wont know what I am saying

he paused staring into her eyes
"I cant
talk with my Mom in English... of course Kannada she smiled

right then he said
"Are u
defending him? she asked lightheartedly

for the guy he murmured

is an easy language

someone that was born into and raised speaking it he mocked
She burst
out laughing...
They
froze for a few moments
Quickly
bending down staring at their plate when they realized
"Do u
want to take turns cooking?
"WHYYY?
he asked baffled
"Because...

"Then we
would be like room mates she said slowly
"And? he
just didn't get it
"I always
lived home... and then with Bik... never got to live like girls in Bangalore she
said slowly
"So u want
to relive that feeling? he asked smiling
She
nodded nervously
"Even
here Mrs Mitra has a cook... she charges money and food is put on the table
"What
would we do in such an arrangement? as if he had no idea
"Like we
would take turns, put it on a calendar... we own it... all the grocery everything
"And? If we
renege? "
"We would
fight she said honestly
He
laughed out loud again startling the sleeping dog
"We have
that part down I think he murmured staring at her lips
"We would
then be cold and cook for ourselves for a week or two until thawing
"Who
would make the first move? he asked intensely
She hoped
it was about the "PG fight😳 and not about the searing attraction she was sensing
