Reaction to eve-teasing- Humpty Sharma Vs. Real World.

So I came across this one scene from Humpty Sharm ki Dulhania where Siddharth's character is eating out with Alia's and a group of rowdy looking guys start eve-teasing her by saying random BS. Siddharth's character tells her to finish food quickly so that they can leave. That pisses her off and she texts Varun who comes with his gang of boys to fight with the rowdy ones. It is shown in a light that such is passionate love, to show Siddharth as the guy with no backbone to stand up for his woman.

Now personally I have always been very confused about it. I am totally against violence and have never understood what is the right way to answer such a thing. Of course, another reason a lot of women fear such reactions is the collateral damage- Police cases, acid attacks, anything that can follow as a consequnce. That can be one of the reasons I do not like it either but this is exactly how every hero on TV or movies behave in such circumstance. Anyway, like I said what Varun did in the movie was shown as a heroic movie. Not justifying what Siddharth's character did but not sure if I really consider that sensible irl.

What do you guys think? What is the right approach?

In real life it doesn't happen..
and even if a girl calls up his boyfriend n his gang to fight..and even they managed to beat them up, they won't take the insult quietly..the next day they would gather with 100's of gundas and beat the shit out of the boyfriend or even kill him. i have seen these things in college myself.

in india women can never be regarded safe because there r never strong laws..secondly its the ugly patriarchy system where even the mother won't teach her son to respect women from birth, no child is born as a criminal or rapist its all about how u grow'em up. and thirdly we treat women as a weaker sex from birth itself.

i didn't like humpty sharma, it had some good scenes but that's just abt it..it was a regular dharma movie.

Reel is different from Real. In real life most would react the way Siddharth's character reacted and the girl would not judge the person too.

That scene had me rolling my eyes so hard and I thought it was bad writing. Shashank needs to work on his writing. I think Varia's chemistry helped to elevate the writing flaws but he might not always be lucky enough to get a jodi who can do that.

As far as i can remember aliya's father wanted to finally break the wedding and approve humpty. But this whole fight thing make him change his mind. And he even asked his family (who were in favour of humpty) this was the guy u were favouring. It was the last nail in the coffin and kavya father rejected him making kavya run away

Even if it was used to push the storyline in a certain direction is doesn't justify disregarding realism or logic. Movies can't be 100% realistic but if you want the character to look like the good guy you shouldn't make him do things that annoy people 😆 I was so annoyed with Humpty during that scene.

No but what i get was that they wanted to show humpty with alot of flaws being impatient and impulsive while siddharth was rational and practical. Even humpty said at the end people are not perfect relationsgips are. So they wanted to show a flawed guy fighting for his love against mr perfect. So how come it was heroic?
p.s that scene was the worst scene of the movie.

I do agree with what you all are saying. The reason I quoted the movie was only to give an example of the scenario. My purpose is to talk about what is the right approach in such a scenario.

Girl and boy alone vs a gang of gundas...

The practical and sensible approach is to get the girl out of that situation before it escalates... Bec no one (or at least very few of bystanders) will help them if the gundas decide to grab the girl... So leave...

That scene was stupid... Among others... It truly was varun alia's chemistry and performance that helped that film look better than it was
