I see a lot of hate for what he's doing by backing all these star kids...even though Varun/Alia are blessed and full of talent...dare I say it, I feel like they get bashed more than Sid even though Sid sucks. Now the hate for Janhvi - history repeating itself.

Whereas people are more lenient on the likes of Sid/Katrina...they suck but their outsiders so its okay that they suck? Although they also get bashed...but its nowhere on the level of star kids. Should we be more lenient with star kids? and what to do with the powerful KJO?

Besides his star cast , a lot of people hate how he ruins his remakes. People hated Ok Jaanu, and now same with Dhadak. I am sure there lots of other movies he's ruined too. A lot of people hate all his films too including classics like KKHH , K3G...Is Kjo a Kalank on the Industry then?

Even the greatest actors will fail if there is no soul.

If you remake or I'll use the word KJO is using for Dhadak "adaptation" you need to not lose the soul of the film. Even in a film like OKJ the soul of the original film OKC was lost.

Sairat is such a film that even those who know zero Marathi watched it. There was something called integrity not just in the story or the acting, but costumes, the rural setting, I am not from India, but I have seen a well like a the one in Sairat where they jump in many rural Tamil films. I have seen dusty fields like the ones in Sairat in Tamil movies. The mud walls. So I connect because the setting in both Tamil and Marathi movies has integrity. They do not try to make the people pretty, costumes glitzy. They just present the actors as real people. One of the most iconic scenes in Sairat is the well scene. What the heck was that in Dhadak ? Do women really take bath in whatever pool they were sitting ? Who does that in rural Rajasthan ?

What does Dharma do ? Does any Rajasthani girl wear clothes like Jhanvi wore ? Like what does a normal Rajasthani girl wear ? Pretty lehengas to take a bath ? It seems too fake. Is the setting rural Rajasthan ? What is the setting ? I saw Mirzya. You have the same scene where the couple goes on a bike. Mirzya looked more authentic. You can see literally see same scenes in Badri and Dhadak from the 4 minute trailer. Not even similar. Is the director trying to make Badri 2 ? Dharma and the directors there, not just KJO seem incapable for making something rooted in reality urban or rural. They kill the soul of the film.

EDIT: Alia got so much hate for SOTY. She was literally presented as a dumb, glam doll. Then the next movie she comes up with Highway. Unless the girl had a talent transplant why the hell was that not visible in SOTY ? I actually feel sorry for the starkids because KJO presents them as pretty and dumb and they have to fight for respect.

Whatever is wrong with BW, KJO is one of the contributors more than what is right IMO.

Karan Johar is a snarky, bitchy, elitist pedigree producer within the Bollywood industry who engages in a lot of cronyism. People will always hate him for his attitude and behavior. He is also a gay man who had surrogate children. There will always be some regressive people who need to hate him for this.
At the same time he is a talented producer with a knack for high production values and exploiting emotions from the Indian diaspora of times gone by. He has given us several hits as director and producer. He will continue to do so. He has also invested in some worthy projects like Raazi and intelligently invested in distribution of Baahubali 2.

I think when he takes simple films like OK Kanmani and Sairat and remakes them with his production values he will receive flak. His star kids will always get hate because people in general are on an anti-nepotism campaign.

But ruin the industry? Far from it. He's just a contributor like everyone else.

While I ain't a fan of his MEAN GIRL attitude... he's successful at giving what the audience wants. His films are a package deal with good music and eye candies. He's done really well as a producer. Furthermore, successfully launched and sustained next gen through Varun and Alia. Sid is a khota sikka...(I find him wooden, bland and don't get the hype around OMG... so hot??? 😆,,, but whatever).

Varun and Alia are amongst the top stars today... thanks to their talent, hardwork and KJo orchestration. FACT. If Janhvi has it in her... she'll catapult to the big league with his guidance (and thankfully Boney-ji will keep out of it and focus on his first born).

He also loves to give outsiders a chance through flicks like Ungli, Bombay Talkies and Lust Stories. 👏

As long as BO works, he gets a PASS on everything! ⭐️

Aur kya chahiye???

Lfmao, all previous hate for Alia mitigated cos Jahnvi is now in the same boat, position of favour from KJo.
Weren't you one of many who begrudged Alia for getting opportunities whilst Parineeti never did; the same people you moan about now.

KJo's cronyism is not the same as everyone else's. He goes out of his way to run down competition for his proteges.

Kajol - Juhi

Kareena - Priyanka (though there were other reasons as well) / Katrina

Ranbir - Ranveer / Imran

Alia - Parineeti

He snatches movies from others and hands them to those on his list of favorites.

He is elitist. He's bitchy.

But no, he's not ruining the industry. If there is no one to watch the movies produced by Dharma, the company will shut shop. Other producers will take over.

I had no choice but to become a Alia fan... there's nobody else around for me to appreciate ? She has forced me to become a Alia fan.

Who else can I appreciate ? Pari, Shraddha, Jacky, Kirti, ? They all suck and are going. Kehte

Who else is there ? What else am I supposed to do than succumb?

Priyanka Deepika Katrina are over too

You tell me then? What should I do?

Putting aside the nepotism thing, I think over time, Dharma's movies have become solely about outside flash and no substance. If you are actually authentic to real places and how real people live, then more people will connect to those movies, watch them, and appreciate them. What's the point of building artificial sets and glamorizing everything? It becomes really annoying that KJO tends to prettify everything. Sometimes, simplicity is the best ornament in a story. He should just strip all that noise away once in a while and present the soul of the story as it is. Though I can't completely blame him either I guess since people are attracted to that superficial gloss more often than not.

This is just completely untrue. He might have a high production value in film, but the stories are nothing exceptional. Nothing that has done been exceptional. NOTHING. Raazi is nothing, but another spy film. We've seen many spy films.

I think the poster of this topic means that he's ruining the industry by having average actors from their own fraternity. No new stories. No new talent. No new nothing. Its same ole kichdi with some paprika on top some days...
