I think he's puzzled why someone as brave as Puru would choose a mousy person like Barsine, and maybe the only conclusion he can come to is love is blind or whatever.
Yeah, me too. I'd love to see his face once he finds out about Laachi. šŸ˜† Then things will make sense to him, maybe he will decide to marry bechaari Barsine when he realizes she has no one.😳

And yes, somehow he seems to taunt Barsine frequently about this. Even when she's crying for her father, he directly called Puru her aashiq. This is the third time he referred to her love, I wonder why.

But why would he be angry that Puru is her lover? šŸ˜•

Let's see:
  1. Faras was conquered by Alexander, Darius deserted his family, Barsine looked scared even when he reassured her, and then when he took the royal ladies out she suddenly smiled because of the fires when she realized Puru was there (and Alexander also realized someone was there).
  2. When Alexander pretended to be intoxicated and went to see the ladies, Barsine wouldn't look him in the eye when he was questioning her, and he asked her if she had a secret (lover?) but she just kept averting her gaze.
  3. Puru sneaked into Barsine's room and was even on the ledge outside. Alexander saw the evidence and understood that the person trying to help Barsine managed to breach security and then escaped from her room.
  4. Puru was not afraid to show up in front of Alexander during the pair poshi - Barsine's eyes were searching for him in the crowd and Alexander knew that her helper was fearless enough to risk being caught in trying to help her.
  5. Puru was imprisoned and Barsine was then trying to talk to Alexander to distract him, even though all this time he wasn't able to extract anything from her. Then Alexander said to Barsine that he understood that she loves Bharat because of its people, but neither Puru nor she denied anything.
  6. Barsine kept cheering Puru during the gladiator match and praising him in front of her mother (and of course Alexander must have heard).
  7. When Puru was being beaten a lot in the arena, she suddenly got up and wanted to leave because she couldn't see him being hurt. Alexander didn't miss that.
  8. Barsine, who seemed like a mouse, decided to steal Alexander's sword to help Puru. Of course Alexander was shocked by her sudden courage and felt that she would risk that only for someone she loves (which may be true, but one-sided).
  9. Puru held a sword to Alexander's throat, and after all his lectures, he took a little break to ask Barsine to leave. Barsine asked Puru "what about you?"
  10. Alexander learned that Puru came all the way to help Barsine, even though he was the one that drove her father out of India.
  11. Puru told Barsine in public that he respected her even more than before because she was brave enough to stay back for her people.
  12. Puru told Alexander that real courage was shown by Barsine when she decided to stay back, and what Alexander was doing wasn't called courage.
  13. Puru knew about the secret escape route, which of course Barsine told him about (I have no idea when she did that though!).
  14. When Alexander held the sword to Barsine's throat, she lifted her chin up and gave him a strong reply. He assumed she got this courage because of Puru and asked her if she'd fallen in love with him, seeing her care for Puru.
Barsine does have feelings for Puru - I'm not sure if it's a soft corner or actual love. Alexander assumes that just as she cares so much about Puru, he must do too which is why he risked everything to come to Faras and save her. She has so much faith in him that she's willing to defy Alexander.

He doesn't know that she helped the Pauravengers beat Darius at the last minute and that Puru promised to repay her by answering her call for help.

If you were in Alexander's place what would you think? šŸ˜† It would be a crazy aashiq that would put all this effort into trying to rescue her.

Superbly argued, my dear. Dil khush kar diya tumne.šŸ‘ I don't know what you do professionally, but if you are not a political analyst, you are a signal loss to that fraternity.

It all goes to show that not even Alexander Holmes can get it right without all the data.

This said, Barsine clearly has a crush on Puru, but she is such a suet pudding that there is no chance of an intriguing love triangle there.

Spot on. You're mind is a beautiful thing. I love how it works!
Yes, Barsine does have a feelings for 100 %pure desi made in India Purshottam! šŸ˜†
You know, I have a dreadful feeling that - I hope I'm wrong - this whole aashiq trainwreck of a misunderstanding is heading somewhere... Cv's appear to be building it up.

Thanks Aunty. Glad you liked it and that it made sense even though I rattled off all the points that I had subconsciously observed and before long it became a list! šŸ˜†
Alexander is really saying this a lot. Maybe he will be more sympathetic towards Barsine's "love" for Puru once he himself falls in love with Roxanne.

Thanks @Alaria, yeah the CVs seems to be going with some sort of theme here. Why else would a world conquerer spend a couple of minutes every so often to talk about Barsine's ishq ki daastaan?

Did Alexander expect her to fall in love with him instead? Or is he just annoyed that she would do and feel all this for his nemeis while still held "captive" by him?

If he had shown even the tiniest hint of any romantic interest in Barsine than I would be willing to assume he probably felt a bit put off by her interest in Puru, but that is not the case here. At all. I'm just as curious as you are. Because I dread what CV's could potentially do to show Alexander in bad light. They already have distorted so much to show Alexander as a big bad bully constantly terrorizing the farsi ladies, especially Barsine. They use her to show him as cruel.

I could be very, very wrong, but we all know Barsine was his second wife. Alexander currently hates Barsine with all his heart. I worry, CV's might show him marrying her out of spite to tick off Puru. This is a legitimate fear of mine. I'd much rather they show Alexander forgetting about Barsine and sending her back to Faras and eventually her track on this show ends without further delay.

I really hope they don't show him marrying her by force or to spite Puru. That would be terrible and so contrary to even the Sony Alexander's character. But you never know with the CVs.

I don't think he hates her, per se. Somehow Alexander seems to be taking this quite personally.

Is it his ego? In fact, I think it bothers Alexander that Barsine doesn't seem to be in awe of him or treat him as a god while everyone else around does, including her mother and sister. I think he doesn't have much respect or tolerance for her at this point because she betrayed him and because she's pro Puru. But she can no longer blame Alexander for causing her father's death, rather he will avenge it (from her point of view) by punishing Bessus with death and giving Darius a proper funeral, if CVs stick to history. Let's see what happens.

@inlieu,you are really amazing girl.I really enjoy reading your views on the topics because your understanding of the characters and the situation is so apt. Moreover your posts have a lot of clarity and precision to them.

As @Alaria said,it's really surprising that they are putting a lot of emphasis on Barsine's unrequited love for Puru which according to Alexander is mutual between the two parties.I wonder why they are choosing to bring up this topic now when they never addressed it when Barsine was in PR with Puru. When Barsine left for Faras, I thought that this Puru-Barsine angle was totally shelved.

Now this topic is being brought up again and again by none other than Alexander himself.Till now even Barsine never acknowledged her feelings for Puru. But Alexander keeps on branding Puru as her 'aashiq'.

Alexander in partially right here for even an idiot can see that Barsine has feelings for Puru. The mere realisation of Puru's presence in the Farsi Bazaar made her glow.I know it can be argued that Barsine was happy coz she was about to be set free.
But just think.Would she have smiled in the same manner had Darius or Mossius come to rescue them? The girl who couldn't even look at Alexander in the eye had the guts to steal his sword for Puru's sake. Moreover she was openly cheering for Puru. And who can forget the heart eyes which she gives Puru?Everyone sees it except Puru himself. She even imagined his silhouette in the tent but it turned out to be Alexander.

In Puru's case we all know how and what he feels. He is like an open book.He is chivalrous and noble for everyone. And when it comes to the people he loves aka Anusuya and Laachi he can take it to another level altogether.
But Alex ko inn sab ke baare main kya pata?? From his perspective this guy from India came all the way to another country and was trying to take Barsine away from right under his nose.He was undaunted by Alexander's might.
Anyone would think that Puru is crazily in love with Barsine.Though they would surely wonder that why and how on earth did Puru fall for Barsine.

Regarding Alexander being bitter about Puru-Barsine's adhoori Kahani then I think it's prolly what @inlieu said.
Alexander wanted Barsine to fall for him instead.Yeah he doesn't have feelings for her but he surely wanted her to feel for him instead.
Before the entire fiasco happened,Alexander was kind to Barsine.
Some strong and powerful people have a tendency to bully the ones who are weaker than them. But there are some other powerful people who have a natural instinct to be protective towards the weaker ones.It makes them feel good when they protect someone.

I believe Alexander genuinely felt good about himself when he behaved kindly with Barsine and co.When people commit such an act they expect some gratitude from the other party. But his actions didn't make Barsine and co any less afraid of him.The moment he realised that he felt that being the Good Guy got me thenga so lemme be the Bully and the Baddie.

I guess what's bugging Alexander right now is why does Barsine love Puru but fear him?
Even after he showed his chivalrous and merciful side to her it didn't change her opinion about him.Yet this girl adores Puru despite the fact that he defeated her own father.I doubt Alex has any inkling that Barsine herself helped Puru to defeat Darius. He will get a bigger shock.
Basically it's one question for him.'Why Porus and why not me????'

But I doubt that he will ever get his answers.Barsine is such a confused soul herself that she cannot even manage her feelings let alone anyone else's.

Thank you for adding your thoughts to it. I want to respond but I gotta go to work. I'm here in California and I work night shifts at a psychiatric hospital. Haha, I got enough crazy to deal with without adding crazy CV's and their drunk-written antics!šŸ˜†

Both you and Inlieu mentioned Alex being intrigued about why Barsine hasn't fallen for him. I never really thought of it that way. Now come to think of it... He was a rockstar of that era and women probably had been falling at his feet so it does make sense.
