Chp 2: So-called Father
RoSid were talking and Ishani switched on the fan, the rose petals fell on them. Sid thought Roli did all this and started singing for her.
Sid: tujhe dekha to yeh Jana sanam, pyaar hota hai deewana sanam, ab yahan se kahan jaein hum, Teri baahon mein marr Jaen hum.
Ishani giggled standing outside.
R: (clapping) u sing very nice.
Sid: and u also do a very good welcome.
He said picking up the rose petals from his head.
R: I didn't do all this, and how did the fan switched on? I didn't switched it, did u do this?
Sid: no if I would've switched it on, the rose petals would have fallen on us before and not when we were talking.
Roli saw Ishani peeping inside and giggling.
R: andar aao
Ishani came and had a tough time controlling her giggles.
Sid: yeh sab tumne kia?
Ishani: yes jija ji
R: jija ji?
Ishani: oh sorry I mean Sid.
She secretly winked at Roli.
Roli looked here and there trying to hide her blushing face. Ishani teased her more.
Ishani: Awww someone is blushing.
R: I m not blushing.
She turned to the mirror and starting combing her hair.
Ishani: achha ek baat btao Sid, do u love Roli?
Roli glared at Ishani and nodded in no. Sid got shocked on her question.
Sid: kya tum bhi, kuchh bhi bolti ho, I love her but as a friend, u tell Shravan or Vidya aye kya?
Ishani: they must be coming, u guys carry on with ur talks I will go.
She went giving Roli a mischevious smile. Sid sat on Roli's bed and his eyes went on the teddy bear kept between the bed. He recalled its the same teddy bear he gave her.
S: Roli?
R: hmm?
Sid: u still have this teddy bear?
R: yes, its my favourite
Sid: even I have that punch maarne wala box...whenever I got bad marks in my exams or did something wrong I always used to punch myself with its help.
He giggled and Roli smiled at him.
R: This teddy bear never let me forget u, never.
Sid: u even kept my photo in your room (starts laughing) looks like someone is in love.
R: tum bhi...I used to miss u that's y I kept it, u yourself gave it to me.
Sid: hmm, nice clothes han, u look cute.
R: thank u.
Sid: bahar chalein?
R: hmm chalo.
They went outside the room and went downstairs, Sid's foot slipped.
Sid: ouch!
Roli turned to him and stopped him from falling.
R: Sid, be careful...r u OK?
S: yes I m OK.
She held his hand and they went down together.
Sid: Roli everyone will see us holding hands and they'll tease us.
R: I don't care, let them see.
Sid smiled at her concern. Vidya and Shravan entered the house and hugged Sid and Roli. comes and greets them. She asks them to have food.
After eating, Ishani-Lavanya and Roli and Simar with others went to Roli's room. Roli hid Sid's photo as soon as she entered the room. They sat on the bed and saw rose petals on the floor.
V: what were u doing with rose petals Roli?
Sid: woh she was welcoming me in her room for the first time after six years in a grand way, hai na Roli?
R: Han
Ishani: actually Roli wasn't doing this, I was doing this.
She winked at RoSid.
Shravan: ohhh so u were doing this according to that song "Bahaaro phool barsao mera mehboob aya hai"?
Everyone laughed except Roli.
R: Guys, what r u saying? Mehboob and all, I and Sid are just friends.
S: yes we are just friends (he whispers to Roli) but just in world's eyes.
She got clueless and looked at him.
They continued talking and partying and sometime later Shravan and Vidya and Sid went from the house bidding bye to Roli, Simar, Ishani and Lavanya. Roli dropped them till the gate. Sid stopped on the way and waited for Vidya and Shravan and everyone else to go. As everyone goes, Sid called out Roli's name, she turned to him and opened the gate.
R: hmm?
Sid: will u meet my family?
R: I will come later.
Sid: ok...give me a hug before going inside.
She looked here and there.
Sid: I m ur childhood friend, u can trust me, I won't tell anyone u have my photo with u, I know I teased u along with everyone else, but I won't do again, I know u have other feelings for me...its same with me too.
She looked directly in his eyes.
R: it can be friendly feelings
Sid: hmm, now, can we have a hug?
R: yes
They hugged each other.
Later at evening, Roli and Simar were doing their homework when they heard someone shouting. They went downstairs and on seeing the person they froze on her place, it was their father Kaal, he was shouting on Avantika and she was crying. She answered him well and he was about to slap her when Roli came and held his hand.
R: how dare u to slap my mother? How dare u even touch her?
She left his hand with a jerk.
K: why do u always have to interfere between us?
R: I can't bear anyone shouting on my mother, vo aap ki waja se rorahi hain, or main apni maa ki aankh me aansu bardaasht nahi karungi, and if u try to slap her again I will kill u, I won't care that u r my father.
K: this is what u have taught Roli to misbehave with elders?
Simar: And what have u learnt from ur mother? to slap a woman and think that she is weak? I will prove it right now that women are not weak. Roli, go call the police.
She went to the phone kept on the table and called police. She told them the directions of her house and complained about Kaal. He came and snatched the phone from her, he held her wrist harshly.
K: how dare u to call police?
Simar: (freeing Roli) and how dare u to slap our mother?
K: look Simar and Roli, we got divorced because of her, she used to fight with me daily, so I divorced her and married second time, and..
Simar: stop it! just stop it! stop acting innocent.
Police came there. Kaal twisted Roli's hands behind her back and pointed a gun on her head.
K: be away else I will shoot her.
Avantika and Simar in unison: Roli!
The police approached Kaal and freed Roli from him, Kaal ran from there, police ran behind him.
Simar hugged Avantika and Roli and comforted her. Police came back.
Police: he has run away
Simar: leave it, let it be...we will manage.
R: But
Simar: No Roli, he won't do anything.
She went to her room, Roli looks on. A man entered in the house.
Man: what happen Roli?
R: nothing Sandesh mausa.
She went in her room and threw herself on the bed as tears started flowing from her eyes. Sandesh came there.
Sandesh: did ur father come here?
R: yes.
Sandesh hugged her.
Sandesh: don't worry everything will be fine.
He wiped her tears and kissed her forehead.
He went to his room and talked to Sangeeta (Simar and Roli's mausi).
Sandesh: Kaal came here again, I saw a mark on Roli's wrist as if someone twisted her hand.
Sangeeta: how can he misbehave with his own daughter?
Sandesh: I think u should go and comfort Avantika, she might be crying.
Sangeeta: OK I will see Simar and Roli also.
After talking to Avantika and Simar, she went to Roli.
Sangeeta: Beta r u OK?
R: yes I m OK
Sangeeta: did he twist ur hands?
R: yes
Roli hugged her.
R: he always used to do that even when I was little, did I do anything wrong by scolding him?
Sangeeta: no u did right, be careful he's dangerous, till we all r alive we won't let him do anything again.
She caressed her hair and asked her to sleep.
It was morning, Roli went to school and met her friends. All of them noticed the mark on her hands.
Sid: Roli what is this on your hand?
She hid the mark with her hand.
R: nothing, childhood mark
He removed her hand from the mark.
Sid: it looks fresh, who did this? tell me
She looked here and there.
Sid: tell na
V: yes tell who did this?
Shr: say something.
Ishani: did he do this?
Lavanya: did he come yesterday?
R: yes, he came.
She told them everything and cried. Everyone consoled her and wiped her tears. They had a group hug.
Guys I won't drag this matter for much time, but I hope u still liked it.
