Lol, the first question took so long. I was so confused why Anu was looking so confused while VD was behaving normally in the beginning but I think her feed was disrupted by some noise. 😆

Anu says that she had faith in the story of the film and the message but wasn't sure if she'll be able to pull it off due to differing personalities but actors wait for a challenge like this.

Anu: My character is very different from me, she doesn't speak very much

Interview: Trailer mai dekha toh sirf rohti hai 😆😆

Anu: She cries a lot. When she's happy she cries, when she's sad she cries. But she's also very funny.

VD: Mauji always asks her: why are you crying 😆

Anu explains that the character is challenging because she says very little but a lot is going on inside - she gives him direction. But Sharat had a lot of confidence - on his and Maneesh's confidence, she signed the film. And whenever people praise her, she thinks they're lying. 😆😆 She doesn't believe VD when he praises her. 😆😆

@3:57ish when Anu's like:

"youth bahut bhayankar connect karne wale hai iske saath . Bhayankar? I don't know why I use that word so much." 😆😆😆

IVr: Agar horror filme karegi toh aisa hoga 🤣

VD: This film is about being independent and about self-belief.

He agrees the youth is running away from things like sewing but he hopes the film will bring them closer. Anu says youth follows things they see so they've shown this world and hope youth are inspired.

Omg talking about self-respect and the doggy scene

Anu: I wanted to cry when he was doing that scene. VD did it without inhibition. It was shot late at night, I came to set just to see it and tears filled my eyes. It was a demeaning thing to do - just because Mauji's a worker, doesn't mean he's a servant.

VD: I can do anything for the character and Mauji has the same thing - he wants to please his master but he's losing self-respect.

Anu: Mamta thinks if someone is disrespecting her husband, they're disrespecting her also then they stand on their own feet.

VD said he learnt from Noor bhai how to sew - he did it with hand machine, foot machine, industrial machine. 2-3 months he learnt how to make a blouse, shirt, pillow case, saree border. Anu laughs after he says all this coz she just did embroidery. 😆😆 Anu says she can make a sweater, she used to do on PK sets. 😆😆

Anu says due to digital age, people can share their work online and sell. And she thinks the training should be given to people to do this. She mentions that YRF has launched a site along these lines where handmade things can be featured and traded fairly which they will talk about soon. (👏)

Got ya covered. 😉😆 They mostly repeat the same things as with any press tour so just included new bits on the film - none of the Virat, BCCI stuff. 😆😆 Aap pics post karlo ji, the ones where they are wearing sari. 😆😳

Adi C told VD: Look I want the actor Varun Dhawan, not the commercial one. 😆
Chopra left Varun to read the script on his own. He thought a camera was watching him. Kalank luckily got delayed so he took it up. When he read it, he could only picture Anushka in Mamta's role and that was what Sharat had in mind. The makers thought Anu will not do it. VD said he was overjoyed when she signed on.

VD: Fights between husband wife and romance is "weird, unique, they're not like intimately close but so close to each other in SD. It's an arranged marriage so it helped Anu and I didn't know each other.
Anu: Unusual chemistry. We got along really well. There was a strange understanding we had of each others humor.
VD: One day we were just singing Backstreet Boys songs.
Anu: We were doing the moves too. IN OUR CHARACTERS. 🤣

Anu says she loves doing "no makeup roles like Pari, SD. 20 mins to get ready only. In fact, makeup artist had to do things to skin to make it look bad and made eyebrows messier.
VD: Nature also gives you it's own makeup. We lost weight cycling as well. 3 kg.
Anu: Too much credit is given to appearance sometimes, it's emotion behind it as well.

On comparisons with DLKH, VD says it's a new film and we are bringing our fans to the theatre and those who want to watch us together and those who are fans of Sharat's to see this film. It's a fast film as well. 👍🏼

Anu: I am obsessed with VD's phone. I go through his phone, his insta and start liking posts I think he'll like. 🤣
VD: She tells me - I know you like this, I know you like this.

They bring up the Drake thing. Anu: When my manager told me today, I said: aaj Varun naach ke aayega. 🤣
VD: It was pretty cool. He's friends with Athiya and that's what social media does - makes the world a smaller place. ... SD is a universal film, we want everyone to watch it.
Anu: Ya, even if Drake wants to watch it... 🤣
VD: Ya, if Drake wants to watch it, we won't stop him. 🤣

On how he's pushing the boundaries of him as an actor:
VD: Uhm, I get worried when people ask me this question because I'm always trying to show the actor in me (Anu cracking up 🤣).
Anu: I think everyone just thinks our job is easy. But in Varun's defense, because I feel very defensive when someone says something against him, like Mamta (omg, take my heart and go ❤️)... I really respected and liked Varun when he did Badlapur.

They both said Ranbir and Arjun spread rumors about each other not liking the other. 😆
VD: because they knew we'd be a force to reckon with when we got together. 😳😆
Anu: Ya, they really came in the path of our true friendship. I've said this in interviews before that Varun manages a good balance between doing commercial films and doing something like Badlapur. Young actors, he and me and everyone, are learning that we cannot expect the same results for different films because they have different audiences and made for a different reason. And we shouldn't judge ourselves. 😃

VD: Now that we're talking about entrepreneurship - Anu is making the kind of films she believes in, as a producer. I loved NH10. It's amazing to see her choices. ❤️
Anu: There is also misconception about how film industry BO works. There is general perception that if film doesn't make 100 cr, it is not a hit. ROI is what needs to be focused on. But Sui Dhaaga's audience range is very wide. Any one in any business can connect. 😊

VD: They told me there are very good actors in this film who are from the area so they know dialect, tu apna dekh le 😆 ... On set there would be embroidery competitions between Anu and Anu's make up artist and they'd see who finished first. 😆

Anu: What is a romantic tailor? Someone who only makes hearts? 😆 The romance is subtle, almost not visible in film. Sharat made it clear about the setup they are in and they haven't spent time together. They don't get to know or speak to each other - they just started living together. But an incident brings them together. Through journey of struggle and self-reliance they learn to find respect, find love and spend precious time together. No coming close or physicality. When they hold hands, it's such a big moment in the film. You'll feel that. (I'M WAITING FOR FEELS 😳❤️)

VD: They go through a journey together.

Anu: They realize how the world is, it is not what they perceived. They learn this when people take them for a ride, take advantage despite that they decide to stand on their own feet and fight.

They speak a lot about the "Make In India" campaign and how much potential India has, how much work is outsourced to India and other strides.

Anu: Mamta might seem submissive, may seem not as strong but she stands up for herself, him and if they're together, they can take on the world. And that's so beautiful. That's my belief also.

the part where they reveal villians of their "epic friendship" Anushka is like tum ho woh aur tu bhi to Arjun & RK, it was hilarious🤣

Varun begins to explain why he wanted Anu in the film and Anu cuts him off.

Anu: No, but Sharat and Adi tell me differently why you said you wanted me... coz of "nayi jodi", commercial angle

Varun: No that's because they're jealous of me. 🤣I will tell you why I wanted Anushka... I wanted her because I needed a solid co-actor opposite me because of the material and I knew that she would help me.

Anu: What if main nahi karti?

Varun: Ya, you could have said no. Tu apna karo!

Anu: Ya, main apni paper chupaati 🤣

Varun: It would happen many times when I'd ask her how to say a certain dialogue then she would do my dialogue for me and then I'd give my take 😆 (they have some inside joke here... it's soo cute ❤️) She taught me how to walk!

Anu: We never wanted to change how it's written - say it how it's written. We have a lot of honesty and respect between each other. And the great thing about Varun is that he doesn't have an ego - if he doesn't understand something, he will ask - he doesn't believe like "mujhe sab kuch pata hai." ⭐️

Anu: I always joke with Sharat that I just got married when we started the film but felt the domestic and homely angle on set with you all. 😆

(PS. feel really bad for Anu having to clarify at the beginning of every IV that she didn't say she didn't want to sign the film... she loved the story, message, everything - she just didn't know if she'd be able to pull off the character which is what scared her. 😆)
