Varun Dhawan talks about his role in 'Sui Dhaaga'

The first time we set our eyes on Varun Dhawan was when he played the role of Rohan in 'Student Of The Year', and let's just say we instantly fell in love with him. Since then, Varun's career has just taken off at a lightning speed and he now has a list of some really impressive movies under his name. Currently, the actor is gearing up for the release of Judwaa 2 and has also started preparing for his role in Shoojit Sircar's 'October'.

Coming back to 'Sui Dhaga', the movie that also stars Anushka Sharma opposite Varun, is set to be released in the second half of the year and people are already curious to know what the movie is going to be about. Varun is supposedly going to play the role of a labourer in the film.

Talking about Varun's role to a leading newspaper, a source revealed, "Varun plays a labourer, a hired help in the film. His look in the film will be in-sync with his character. The film hopes to raise awareness about indigenous cottage industries here in India and also talks about the dignity of labour."

Talking about the director Sharat, another source stated, "Sharat is so passionate about the subject, his narration impressed Varun enough to say yes to the project."

When asked about the project, Varun had earlier stated, "From Gandhiji to Modiji, our leaders have always endorsed the mantra of Made in India. With Sui Dhaaga, I am proud to take their message to millions of movie lovers in a way that is entertaining and relevant. I really liked the script that Sharat had written and I am happy that I am teaming up with YRF on this one. Anushka and I are pairing up for the first time so I am sure there will be fireworks."

Exclusive: Varun Dhawan, Anushka Sharma set to team up in Sui Dhaaga Made In India

Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma will work together for the first time in Sui Dhaaga Made In India. The film will go on the floors in January 2018, and will release on Gandhi Jayanti in the same year.

Varun Dhawan says since he and Anushka Sharma are teaming up for the first time, he is "sure that there will be fireworks.

Surely, they are two of the most promising young stars on the Bollywood's horizon. And now, HT has exclusively learnt that Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma are set to come together for the first time in Yash Raj Film's new production, Sui Dhaaga Made in India.

While the film will be written and directed by Sharat Katariya of Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015) fame, it will be produced by Maneesh Sharma. Varun feels that since he and Anushka are teaming up for the first time, he is "sure that there will be fireworks. "From Gandhiji (Mahatma Gandhi) to Modiji (Prime Minister Narendra Modi), our country's leaders have always endorsed the ideology of Made in India'. With our film, I am proud to take their message to millions of people in a relevant manner, says Varun.

Varun Dhawan will be working in a Yash Raj Films' production venture, Sui Dhaaga, for the first time.

Dhawan Jr. adds that he "really liked the script Sharat had written and is "happy to work with Aditya Chopra's production house, Yash Raj Films. On the other hand, Anushka says she always gets "excited with unique ideas that have human interest angle. She adds, "It's a story of self-reliance that I believe will connect with every Indian. And I am really looking forward to work with Varun and the team of Maneesh and Sharat.

Interestingly, Maneesh and Sharat first joined hands in Dum Laga Ke Haisha (DLKH) that besides multiple mainstream awards also went on to win the National Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. "After the love and appreciation DLKH garnered from the audience, it's very exciting to team up once again with Sharat to tell a heart-warming story of pride and self-reliance. This story has its roots in the heart of India, and reflects the passion that runs through the veins of every Indian, says Maneesh. The film will go on the floors in January 2018, and will release on Gandhi Jayanti in the same year.

The respective producer and director of Sui Dhaaga Maneesh Sharma and Sharat Katariya first joined hands in Dum Laga Ke Haisha.

Maneesh feels that Sui Dhaaga Made In India will "resonate with everyone and with Varun and Anushka, they've "found just the right vehicles to tell the story, Sharat says, it's a "great feeling to begin again (work on a film). "Finally, we have a story worth telling. There is excitement mixed with nervousness, and also the joy of reuniting with old friends and new collaborators. Everyone is more experienced than before, but we are hoping that we'll be able to work with the same innocence and joy, says Sharat.

Varun Dhawan might play labourer in Sharat Katariya's upcoming film Sui Dhaaga

Varun Dhawan is a busy actor. After the release of Judwaa 2, the actor will begin work on Shoojit Sircar's October. Apart from October, he also has Sui Dhaaga, opposite Anushka Sharma, in the pipeline. Speculations about his outing with Sharma are rife since the two will be seen together on screen for the first time. While crucial details about his character in Sui Dhaaga remain under wraps, according to a DNAreport, he is playing a labourer.

His character will apparently be in-sync with his look and will represent the hired helps of the country. According to Pinkvilla.com, the film will raise awareness about the small scale industries in India, the ingenious handloom industry, which has some of the most skilled workers. There is, however, no confirmation about the character yet, from either the actor or the director.

The film is written and directed by Sharat Katariya, who had also directed the sleeper-hit Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Maneesh Sharma, who had earlier worked with Anushka in Band Baaja Baaraat, is producing the film.

The film will go on floors in the first month of January and will be released around Gandhi Jayanti.
