Hammie's Impression's ep 44~31.8.17~ Discus throwing!
A gymnastic exercise dating back to the Greeks, revived in modern times. The discus can be thrown by either hand, with one forearm extended backwards. The discus itself is a wooden disc with a metal rim! It's all about covering a distance , testing ones strength using the arm span. Within the episode today , to me I'ts about Advay and Chandni identifying an existing distance between themselves. Alongside it's also testing their individual stamina in dealing with their distant awkwardness and differences of opinion. Both are competitors holding their ground. Both throw and catch! Keeping the rhythm of the game. It's not so much about winning as much as it to keep the game on!The disc shape in their case symbolizes their bond rounded off and formalized in marriage! Pity both throw it to distance themselves from a nameless bond?
Post wedding ritual. Introducing the bahu and flaunting her beauty publically. Its all about confirming Chandni as Advay's wife.Well he is not to take this lying down. This post ritual will not happen, because he refuses to accept Chandni as his wife!
A game of throwing back and forth arguments. Both Nani and Advay as much as they get on.Dadi actually is perhaps the sole person in his family who is aware of his emotional insecurities. She checks if he believes that all she does, is for his good? Yet likewise they are wary of each others inner thoughts which revolves around Chandni of course!. Nani wants his assurance he won't make her leave? But he argues Nani is gullible , she fails to fathom Chandni's guile .Nani actually refers to him as being gullible too, he only knows what he wants to believe. Refuses to accept Chandni's presence, as a bitter pill! But in actual fact her presence will act as a means to repair him. But then the difference is Advay sees things from the human eye which in his case, fails to see Chandni's truth, he dismisses all other options, bar what his eyes saw. Nani retorts, she may have lost her vision but she has seen much of life. So Nani is still concerned, that in a dark frame of mind he might just turn Chandni out of the house?
Another pair meets and hits it off. In no time the new unwanted Chandni is welcomed by Adi! The spectacled lad is just what she needs. A say it as it is! ambassador of goodwill in the house. Being a child his manner is genuine, uncontrived ,non-primed. His sincerity warms Chandni's heart, when he offers her a pair of wedges to match up to the size of his rather, outsized and out classed mammo! Too big for his boots , Chandni muses. Adi actually acts the cupid without being aware. He promotes his mamoo being , dark chocolate but with a soft centre! The hat on his head really is about putting a Mr. Nice guy hat on CM, Chiku mama's head. Young Adi comes to Chandni advocating Advay' case! Great!! This is mau dehkia! as Chandni gets to know, the people who matter the most to her.. now..
Mau dekia.. Chandni gets to learn a bit more about ,Pooja, Advay's sister. lik her son, she too is easy going .Identifies with Chandni what it means for a girl to leave her family on account of the person she marries. Pooja again identifies with Chandni, that she knows awful it feels if the one for whom one leaves one's parent for, abandons you as well. Chandni listens , and keeps all in her heart. She finds Pooja, extremely positive, with a sense of humour. Some things she tells Chandni, are just good practice. Like, grief and tears come as part of life ,without asking, but for laughter and happiness one has to make an effort to seek them out! Personally I feel that Pooja will be a positive influence on the rather off beat and morose Chandni! The scene celebrates the bond of admiration, and affection between a sister and her brother's wife! since Chandni relaxes, she borrows's Pooja's phone to contact Indrani
Indrani literally washes her hands off Chandni ..who still suffers from guilt complex for marrying Advay.Chandni implores to her mother to take her name. But the wicked step mother only fumes at Chandni and mourns her lack off cash flow.Chandni in fact takes inspiration from her mother's feigned extended silence over the phone with Chandni.. for Indrani knows her hard line attitude will make Chandni stick at her marriage! Not matter what! Advay overhears the conversation and.. vows he will not let any thing right happen in both mother and daughters lives, more defamation is in store for them! With a nasty smirk on his face ,Advay decides since he gave his word to Nani he will have to keep Chandni in the house. But on the other hand what's to stop him from, making life hell for Chandni! where she herself will take voluntary exit from this house and his life!.. he sighs in satisfaction..
Its about empowering women to compete with men. Height is used humorously by CV's to size females against men. Here again in a scene between Murli and Shilpa.. Shilpa despite her being a dwarf, gets elevated job wise! as she gets promoted by SIR and Murli gets demoted!!
Pooja too like her son Adi promotes big brothers persona by touching upon his creative interior decorative talents. Already positive feedback of Mr.Nice guy Advay, is being decimated to Chandni, assures her when she gets to know him she too will love him!
Her foe comes to claim his right to adorn his bride for the post wedding ritual. He bears a round quarter plate of Oreo cookies! Telling her,t hat's what she is.. sweet delight! that folks snack on! bad for health! and certainly not a full wholesome meal..on the other hand he might just show his sister, what a caring husband he is!! whatever? But he demands his sister leaves. Pooja giggles and Chandni holds her breath. he loves it when she appears like a frightened doe. In the privacy of their room his fingers barely touch her earlobes and Chandni's fingers and toes curl and tingle. He watches how his bare touches melts her in bouts of bashfulness. His voice and words though mock her, she thought she would get to him by using Nani as a soft target.. his finger adorn her neck with a choker necklace, from behind her head he growls, you think you play smart at blackmailing me? but the truth is a characterless girl like yourself!who even abandons her baby ,and comes to my house! Really! has no place in my life! and he pulls the drawstring of her choker cruelly against her gullet. But stops when she winces. Gets up and turns to leave..
Oh no you don't Advay Singh Raizada!Chandni squares up to him! not interested in the ritual! Neither in being your wife, I am here to honour Nani's wish! and to uphold, both our families esteem! Advay stops in his tracks, reels around! Ohh the girl snorts fire? before he can blink! She hurls the plate of cookies across at him to make her point. He catches the flying plate in his hand, and hurls it back to her with a caustic remark, talk about respect is rich! coming from a character like you! Chandi is brisk to catch the flying plate in her hand and hisses in fury! Take a look at your self, I doing even know what your issue is with my family ? you are a control freak! But let me tell you , you cannot control destiny! You made it your destiny to force me to marry you! then leave me! Now you listen! It is my destiny that brings me here ,with my name written on your destiny..so now you deal with it! She hurls the plate rudely back his way! He ducks! doesn't want to play! and the circular plate smashes against the wall and ends up in pieces on the floor! The circular plate hurled between them is the full circle of marriage. Advay gives up catching what she hurls at him..did he rather, they end their marriage?
When one small moment in time will be mine too!!challenges, an obdurate Chandni! She dares to stand up before him? Advay looks for something to punish her. well he's letting her know. She needn't bother as the ritual will be cancelled! Chandni digs her heels and tells him the ritual will take place at the right time! He growls, time always favours me! yesterday and today as well .There is no stopping Chandni now.. she warns hm. But there will be one moment that be mine too! He glares at her..we'll see how this ritual takes place1 Chandni mutters! Yes ,we sure will see! Last word his! we'll see and his black shoes crushes the shattered porcelain plate as he storms out!
Stage all set for the mau dekia... nani awaits Chandni, Pooja says Advay helped her dress up! Nani smells fish! Neela Maasi asks Advay is he sure? He replies yep! Chandni will not come ,hence no ceremony either. But then virtue is ever present to save the day..nani brings the sheer red veiled new bride. Advay steals glances at Chandni. Nani cajoles Advay into giving his opinion if Chandni looks pretty..he sort of just stood there,his eyes checking out her face.The red veil on her face actually tries to veil what Advay really feels in this moment in time? does she look pretty Advay? Nani asks, and he spontaneously,almost murmurs.. yes... but neela Maasi blanks Chandni out! Advay is hell bent the ritual does not happen. Murli is instructed to tell guests its cancelled!.. but Nani and her bahu wait patiently for guests to arrive. Nani explains to Chandni, its important that the public see her as Advay's wife,then so will Neela..due to public pressure Neela too will have to acknowledge her DIL in life..
Now this is what I can a balanced episode, a flavoursome tempering of both leads having it out, great pairs of Adi /Chandni, Pooja/Chandni, Advay /Nani.. Chandni/Indrani.. ritu was brilliant.. and tomorrow ,humiliation for Chandni and lies to keep face... hamlet53 1.9.17
