He was knocked most of the night, she texted Mrudula about the situation
"Why do you want to help HIM?" she asked angrily
"I dont know" Trisha responded sadly
"I know you love him Trishu... but dont" Mrudula begged
Trisha sobbed
"I cannot leave him like this, even his mother does not know" she whimpered
"He married you so your father can feel pain Trishu"
"I know Mru... I dont know I am unable to leave"
"You want to give yourself pain to ease his pain?"
She nodded tearfully...
She didnt go to get the cat she sat in her spot in the balcony, there was a new awning now. She turned on the balcony light, brought an old journal from the closet and sat down
Talked and talked to Mrudula
"Just leave girl"
"I cannot, what if he gets more sick?"
"Its deserved then Trishu... he hurt you
"I know that.. I am not trying to be noble... but when I see him like this I cant leave"
"You have been saying the same line for 10 times Trishu"
"He said sorry many times"
"Who knows if he is even hurt, what if he is faking it so you can come and Uncle and be hurt more?"
"He didnt even know I was going to show up"
Mrudula didnt have an argument
"I still cannot believe he has a shoulder fracture and elbow fracture and so many cuts and bruises and his family is ignoring him
"Because he lives alone"
"You are there na?"
"I promise I will come tomorrow"
"He is going to be in cast for 10 weeks atleast , I looked in google now. You cant come tomorrow"
"What will I tell Aaanu"
"Are you serious? You plan to stay for 10 weeks?"
"No... I dont..." Trisha cringed
"Trishu he will hurt you more. He is not even from Konkan... Aanu will be devastated..."
"I think of Aanu and I want to walk out... but when I think of us... I think of him... I want to stay"
"There was no "US" Trishu... it was your imagination"
"No Mru he was nice to me.. he let me stay here... he laughed and joked and even spoke nicely"
Mrudula groaned
"I dont know what this situation is... I should have gone" she said protectively
"Let me stay the night?" Trisha begged
"Come back in the morning" Mrudula was sad
He woke at 2 AM... she heard him in the hallway, she had slept in a leaning position on her bed as usual
She got off the bed and walked out
"Hi Trisha" he smiled
"You are in pain?" she asked innocently
"Not so much now" he said
"that means there is still pain?" she asked not understanding the urban language
He smiled "Umm.. theres pain... like a 3? on a scale of 10?" he said
She nodded
"I can go?" she asked
"I can make it a 9" he smiled
She smiled self consciously
"Wheres the cat?" he asked looking around
"Its 2 AM... Prasad never lets me keep him all night" she mumbled. "I didnt go to ask"
"Did you eat?"
"Umm.. no" she said
"Lets make eggs?" he asked
She nodded
He cooked a giant omelette with many capsicum and onions and parsley and 6 eggs
"For you?" she asked after watching him work quietly. when he let the creation slide off the pan on to the plate
.. she had previously chopped the veggies for him like a true restaurant chef helper
"You think I am fat?" he grinned
"Umm.. no..." she shook her head trying not to look at his flat belly
"You do" he insisted huskily walking up to her with his spatula in his left hand
"I meant... there is so much chopped vegetables no" she waved her hand nervously
"Ah" he pretended to believe her
"You want coffee?" she asked
"Sure... I cudnt risk having you cook the food" he winked
She scowled... "I will put salt in it then" she said
"Why dont you tell your mother?" she asked again
He had begun eating without cutting out her half...
She toasted bread for him...
"You really do want to see her" he chuckled
"she hates me" Trisha said loudly
"She thinks you have great skin" he said
She froze with the frig door open and turned to look at him
He was devouring her bare arm
"U think I am lying" he said
"Umm.." she didnt know what to say
She made coffee... he was almost at the 2/3rd point when he realized
"Hey I am sorry I ate through your share"
"I will drink thru your share of coffee" she nodded picking up his cup the one she pushed towards him seconds ago
and sipping four or five quick sips
He pushed the plate towards her
"Here" he said
She felt her insides squash noisily
"I eat very neatly" he insisted
She looked at his face with stormy eyes
With her fork hovering over his omelette
"Neat robber" she said
He burst out laughing
"U are unforgiving arent you?" he asked
She took it differently
"Trish... no..." he begged asking her not to read more into it
He ate the toast quietly, she ate his leftovers...
"Can you stay tomorrow?" he asked directly, sending her heat soaring "I mean today.. since its 3 AM" he smiled
"Mrudula is waiting" she said
"She doesnt approve does she?" he asked when she dodged eye contact
She shook her head painfully
