WHAT happened to you? she asked
He saw the raw fear in her face
Are you worried? he asked
She lowered her gaze quickly
Not that she ever wanted to worry for his well being
You had an ACCIDENT? she asked shocked
He did not move an inch from where he stood, or lounged against the door jamb
There were cuts on his cheek and one under his lower lip. Like he had scraped himself in places
He nodded slowly
HOW?
I was riding the motorcycle... Oz's he fell off, we fell off... when he tried to ride over a bump, and were hit by a car
Her expression turned into one of horror
She tried to look away
Pushed by a car? she asked
More like slammed
She gasped...
They looked at each other deeply
Many fractures? she asked looking at his arm
Shoulder elbow and wrist he said
Why are you not in hospital?
They dont keep people for long in Bangalore... he grinned harmlessly
That is bad... you have had accident
I can tell the doctor you dont approve
He smiled again
She wasnt sure how he could be so pleasant and adoarble when he was so hurt
She played with her fingers
He shut the door bolted it and leaned on it exhaling
She stared wordlessly watching him do that
Something passed quickly between them
" If I cant have you for good.. I have you NOW" look on his face
"You were in the hospital today?" she asked softly
He nodded
"I got out 4 hours ago"
Is your mother here?" she asked fearfully
" she is..." he paused
"Ashwi"
"Oh so you do remember the name?" he asked
" Is she here?"
"Nope" he said satisfied with her discomfort
She relaxed visibly
" Does she still bother you?" he asked softly
She blushed crimson
Good question she thought
Why should a man's mother who she is longer connected to bother her?
She did not know
He was in terrible shape.. totally beat up
" Are you in a lot of pain?" she asked shocked
He nodded cringing, eyes closed
Nothing was said for a few minutes..
" How did it happen?"
We were returning from Mysore, and were almost home... like an hour I will say..." he said
"Motorcycle?" she gasped
He nodded ashamed...
" You can make your self coffee" he offered.. " or help me out as I make it for you"
The kitchen was a GIANT MESS
She looked apalled
" Dont look at it from a restaurant owner's eyes.. see it through the eyes of a"
"Blind man" she let it slip spontaneously
" Did u just say I am blind again?"
He laughed heartily
" I am sorry"
He walked over to her
" You are not" he whispered
" Means you say.. you cant see right?" she went all defensive
" Lie to me Trisha" he begged as they leaned on the giant quartz center island and gazed at each other
" I came to see you" she said agonised by the mere articulation
He sucked his breath in.. in shock
He was weak and vulnerable now, she was brokenhearted and dejected
Lies felt good ... like an analgesic
