REWIND - Barun's acting highs!!!!

OK folks so I ve been binge watching Season PRATHAM for reasons which i cant reveal since IF mods will kill me. Kair since I was nostalgic went to rewatch all those episodes & ve reached episode 204. So i thought while re-watching y not rewind & remember all those high moments in the show. So let me start with Barun's acting. In the early episodes he was totally wooden, so much so that daily WU writers used to call him expressionless wonder. However post the rain hug scene he got into his groove & his acting improved by leaps & bounds. So much so that many times his face used to convey his emotions without any dialogue.

So in this series I want to talk about those scenes where i saw the actor Barun shine & scenes which proved that he is NOT just a pretty face but a guy WHO CAN ACT! ACT HE DID & HOW!!!!

So here goes my reco for today:

PAPAD KA TUKDA

Till now both Kushi, others & even the audience have seen only the ruthless business scion ASR. The guy who will not stop at anything, bend to none, never apologize. An arrogant jerk in short. Yeah sure they showed his interactions with his Di & we get that he is different only when it comes to those whom he love & that holy circle is very limited. But even with his Di he rarely gives in & keeps dodging her advice & remarks. And most importantly Kushi never saw all this. In fact even on the day Anjali brings her home ASR blasts Anjali. So Kushi goes home cursing this arrogant A*H who is rude & disrespectful even to his own elder sister.

BUT Then comes that epic Mandir scene & all that changes. Kushi sees him restless, frantic with worry. She sees guilt & fear on his face for the 1st time. OMG she thinks this beast even has a heart. He even cares about someone. She is stunned, perplexed. Even tries to reassure him coz she knows the pain of losing a loved one. ASR snaps back & she reverts to being repulsed by him.

Then she sees him running towards his Di. And what follows next is history. She sees the mighty ASR slump down on his knees & bow his head before another person. The person who holds a piece of his heart. And next Zor ka Jatka. He even recites a silly childish rhyme. PAPAD KA TUKDA HAR WAQT UKDA.

Arrogant ASR & nursery rhymes woh bhi Hindi mein. Her mouth hangs open in disbelief. This is when Barun slays it. He has tears in his eyes. He waits for his Di to complete their rhyme. She doesn't. He now openly cries. Turns his cheek & says Di hit me, kill me but dont ever leave me like mom. He openly breaks down. How can Anjali not melt & she of course melts. She completes the rhyme. Then that crucial dialogue. MUJHE ISS DUNIYA SE KOYI MATLAB NAHI. MERI DUNIYA THO SIRF AAP HO DI! That is a humdinger of the tragic events to unfold. 1 day a girl ll hold another piece of this man's heart & he will b torn between the 2. There will be another girl who ll mean the world to him. In the scene they actually cleverly pan the camera so that Kushi is shown out of focus but standing in between the 2.

My God this is the scene which defined Barun. The scene where i felt Barun the actor has finally arrived. Sure he showed glimpses of that in the previous few episodes like fear during the guesthouse fiasco, attraction during Teej, restlessness when K declares she is moving back to Lucknow, shock at finding her hiding in his wardrobe. But this iconic scene changed the way i saw Barun. For the 1st time he was no longer just an eye candy whose acting was just about OK. This was the 1st time I fell in love with a fictional Indian TV character. Some one whom I loved & hated in equal measures. Barun made me love ASR. Every time ASR does something mean I wanted to truly hate him but something prevented me. I knew in my heart that in real life no girl should love an ASR a jerk who doesn't deserve true love. But somewhere something stopped me from hating this guy. I ended up actually rooting for this guy. I wanted him to get his girl. I wanted him to win her over, woo her. Every time I hated ASR Barun made me end up falling for ASR. Now that is magic & power of acting. Making us love an unlovable guy!

Kudos to Barun for bringing out the different shades of white, black, grey & everything in between in the portrayal of a flawed broken hero. The legendary ASR!

Well for the same reasons as yours, i have started watching Pratham on Hotstar. Right now watching Payash wedding. Well no doubt love Barun for his acting skills and IPK Pratham will always stay close to my heart. Off late started watching turkish plays with subtitles, they have spoilt me so much that I cant watch any bollywood or indian series but for Barun I am giving a chance to his comeback coz whatever it is he excels always.

Papad ka tukda was the first of Barun's bests in ipk.that was such a lovely scenes properly excecuted in both acting and technical levels.Bith daljit and Barun were awesome.And Sanaya was good too,she protrayed khushi's first glimpse of 'papad ka tukda' beautifully.

yes,i completely agree that barun's acting at the start was of ok types!

Oh u r watching Payash wedding. I love that 1st kiss which he gives to Kushi. He has such a naughty look on his face. Then next episode Kushi kisses him back. Wow 4 the 1st time even the mighty ASR was shocked, stunned & gobsmacked. I loved his expression & the expression of Maami, Nani & Anji as well 😆

And of course that ambulance scene. That entire episode his fear, his anguish of losing her, finding her safe then yelling at her.

Till the 1st 200 episodes I used to absolutely love Arnav-Anji scenes. They used to make me cry. Bro & sis orphaned & having to support each other. They rocked! I used to hate Rabba Ve since it used to come during those trip-fall-catch-eyelock-chest heaving scenes & i never liked that slooow song. I prefer the sadder version & also the faster version! Hate only the 1st line that super slow & super long Rabba Ve

like their were pretty intense scenes in the start,where he had to show ASR's anger,

remember the 2 slaps he gave his client/collegue when he was being oversmart!!

but he wasn't into his character completely at that time,like the guest house confrontation with khushi

where he was enraged and glared at her,that bulging eyes and all that!!

but but,slowly slowly he perfected the potrayal of his rage,his eyes literally started to spitting fire!!

and i don't think so i ever doubted even a thing about his acting after the initial few episodes!

he would nail everything,anger,love,concern,care,desire(that diwali scene),playfullness(I

loved the flirty ASR,during payaash's marraige and when he starts teasing her about their suhaagraat,i still smile and blush like a goof at that)!!

and the thing that i loved about ASR was that he was flawed dammit!!

i always tell my sister,that these drama shows and novels has completely corrupted the mind of

young girls,so they think that their's would be a perfect charming prince(like that's even possible in

asli duniya)!!

ASR was a welcome change,a bit realistic too!

like a fair ratio of the guys population do have temper issues,especially the south asians ones!!

BTW,why do you call IPK pratham?m confused!!

and that papad ka tukra scene was so pure,so awesome!

i always liked arnav anjali scenes,you know,such pure siblings love!!

his MERI ASLI DUNIYA TOH AAP HO,conveyed that he would anything,anything to protect her,

which he did too but by hurting khushi!!

PRATHAM means 1. For reasons which are better not to discuss on this forum we IPK fans r now calling Season 1 as PRATHAM 😉

I agree with you here...i was also not a great fan of long eyelocks trips and falls... Especially when you arr watching with papa by your side 😆 .i used to prefer sad and emotional ones.but i quite liked the new one they introduced during meri sangeeth dance.it suited all those flirting that followed the sangeeth dance.
Anji n arnav scenes were cute..they were amazing during emotional scenes but they both had amazing timing along with talent..which showed in other light hearted scenes as well.for eg: for arnav's first sorry ,there is a arnav anji scene where anji is concerned abouta restless arnav and her repeated questioning got him even more irritated.that scenes was cute..here arnav is irritated about not being about to utter a single sorry and anji smothers him with so many sorries.his expressions were bang on 😆

During PAYASH wedding remember how Anji used to have fun at the expense of ARHI. She used to play along.

Also in the v beginning aft the guesthouse fiasco how she read his anxiety & concern in his eyes. She calls Kushi's house in his presence to check on her since she knew Arnav was worried but was too pig headed to call himself 😆 She really got him. Sadly this relationship was ruined aft the Shyam fiasco 😡
