Anurag Kashyap's production house Phantom House has also been roped in to produce the series which will be directed by Kashyap. Based on the eponymous novel, Sacred Games will be an exploration of Mumbai's underbelly infested with delinquents, corruption, fierce criminals and sexual escapades.
The series will be shot on several locations in India and will be produced by a Netflix and Phantom House partnership. Despite being bilingual (Hindi and English), it will be released globally.
When Sacred Games was first announced in June 2016, Erik Barmack, the Vice President of international original series at Netflix had referred to it as:
Sacred Games reinforces our commitment to bring the authenticity of local stories to Netflix members across 190 countries worldwide.
Vikram Chandra had supplemented it by saying:
I'm confident that all the colour and vitality and music of the fictional world I've lived with for so long will come fully alive on the large-scale canvas provided by Netflix.
The other screen adaptation of a book that Khan was earlier seen in was
Parineeta, based on a Bengali novel of the same name by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.
Time to bring out that popcorn yet?

Agreed.

All the experimental filmmakers who have 36 ka ankra with CBFC should start putting their "creations" through this medium. 😆

That's great. Netflix is huge. If this is good, it might just give Saif his much needed revival.
