This is one of the frequently asked questions!!
Today's episode gave very little hint on the fact...
Lets discuss it...

There is a voiceover of kid(most probably Chandni) asking some other kid(Advay/dev) if his mother was flying in the air...Then some elder person asking that kid what she saw exactly, to she said, "Mahantaniji hawa mein urr rahi thi!"

She even asked if his mom is witch, right? Something happened there. Some misunderstanding.

They were kids then... So I think, something was deliberately shown to Chandu by the mastermind which she asked Advay If his mom is a witch...and when enquired by others, she told them...As a kid she may not have the wit to understand the gravity of her words...

So Advay's anger for is justified a little..

I think chandni asked Dev if his mother is dayan
Then we heard some elder questioning chandni ...and everyone says maro
I think some one make chandni belive that dev mother is ... and they killed her

She asked Dev if his mom is that
Then may be some one asked her something
She told and that spread like wild fire
Then all decided to burn his mom alive

I think she was Labeled as a witch by the crowd and chandu said she was flying so their doubt's got confirmed and they burnt her..man that is so evil 🤔

Till now wat I understood is that pointed finger on Advay's parents and ppl started attacking them...hence Advay blames her
As you mentioned mastermind must ve tricked kid Chandu's mind and manipulated her...she must ve tot pure abt all...unable to infer damage & consequences

yeah, chandni must have triggered the whole thing that led to his parents death not knowing what her words would do, if that was 16 yrs ago that would mean it took place in 2001 or or 2000, no doubt this was planned by someone, i dont think this randomly happened.
