Raising the question "who asked Shagun to sacrifice" doesn't make any sense. Did Raman and the other Bhallas stopped her when she offered herself for them? They happily enjoyed her sacrifice and now they are throwing her away as they've found a substitute.

Ironically, the substitute, they are rooting for, had substituted them in her life with new people seven years ago!
