CHAPTER -43

Nandini selfthought - 

Sorry Buaji hum aapko pura sach nahi bata sakte. 

Ye sach hum apne dil me hi rakhkar chale jayenge yaha se bahut dur. Aap sab se dur. Manik se dur.

Saying this she smiled inwardly on her fate.

Nandini and Shanti were sitting silently in the hospital room when Manik entered.

Shanti - Manik...Tum kaha chale gaye the. Itni der hogayi. Kya baat hai Beta...

Manik - Bua Maine bataya tha na ke mujhe Kuch kaam tha .

Shanti - Aisa kya kaam tha Beta Jo tum Hume yahan akele chodke chale gaye. 

Itni raat ko kya kaam ho sakta hai?

Manik -Bas tha Kuch important kaam. 

Saying this he looked at Nandini.

Nandini in turn avoided eye contact with Manik.

Manik then looked at Shanti and said- Sorry Bua... I shouldn't have left you guys alone here. Dobara aisa nahi hoga. 

Saying this he held his ears.

Shanti -

Arey mai to bas aise hi bolrahi thi. 

Tu maafi kyu maang rahe ho.

Waise tumhara kaam hua ya nahi?

Manik - Haan Bua almost ho hi gaya samjhiye.

Shanti - Acha theek hai. Tum yahan Par baitho mai abhi aati hoon.

Nandini didn't want Shanti to leave her alone with Manik.

Nandini - But Buaji aap kahan jarahi ho? Yahi rahiye na...

Shanti - Nandini Beta mai Kahin nahi jarahi hoon bas washroom jakar aati hoon.

Saying this Shanti went away.

Manik stood there just looking at Nandini.

There was an awkward silence in the room.

Finally Manik broke the silence...

Manik - Nandini...

Nandini looked at him for a second and then lowered her head.

Manik - Nandini. I can understand how you might be feeling right now...

But...

Nandini - 

Manik... Hame us baare me baat nahi karni hai.

Aap baar baar kyu yaad dila rahe ho. Hume nahi sonchna us baare me.

Jo bhi hua please bhool jayiye. 

I know that you must be regretting it. Hum jante hai ke aap Aaliya ko pasand karte hai. 

Jo bhi hua wo nahi hona chahiye tha. But please just forget it. 

Kuch hi din me hamari shaadi hone wali hai to hum hamesha ke liye aap logon se dur chale jayenge. 

Then you can start your life afresh with Aliya and I don't want you to keep feeling guilty about it all the time.

Nandini's heart hurt while saying this.

She was just not able to tolerate even the thought of Manik being with someone else.

But she had to do it as Nyonika didn't like her even a single bit.

Manik was surprised to hear all this from Nandini.

Manik to Nandini - Are you happy with the marriage?

Nandini -Yes. I am very happy.

Manik knew that Nandini was lying but he kept quiet. 

He first wanted to talk to Nyonika about calling off the wedding.

By the time, Shanti also came .

Shanti - Kya hua tum dono itne chup chap kyu baithe ho?

Manik - Kuch nahi Bua bas aise hi.

Shanti - Acha theek hai. Waise Manik tumhari friend kya naam hai uska... Aliya... Kaisi hai wo?

Kuch baat aage badi tum dono ki...

Manik - Bua ... Wo actually...

Shanti - Haan Haan samajgayi. Tu abhi nahi batana chahta na. 

Theek hai . Mai force nahi karoongi.

Jab tera Mann kare bata dena.

Waise raat bahut hogayi hai. 

Nandini tum sojao Beta. Abhi Doctor se meri baat Hui hai. 

Doctor ne kaha ki tumhe Subah hote hi discharge kardenge.

Manik stole a glance of Nandini.

Shanti - Manik tu bhi thoda rest karle.

Manik - No Bua aap yahan couch pe sojaiye. I am comfortable on this chair.

Shanti agreed and fell asleep within few minutes.

Manik sat on the chair and rested his head to the wall.

Nandini looked at Manik.

Manik's eyes were closed.

Nandini kept on looking at Manik for a long time.

Her eyes were filled with tears and tears started rolling down her cheeks.

Nandini selfthought - 

I love you Manik. 

I love you so much.

I can't stay away from you. 

Kaash hum sath reh sakte hamesha ke liye. 

But i can't see you with other girl. Mai nahi seh paaungi. 

Isiliye Maine yahan se bahut dur jaane ka faisla liya hai. 

I just hope sab theek se hojaye aur fir kisiko bina bataye mai yahan se chali jaungi. 

But I have to be careful that Soha doesn't come to know of all this.

Thank God Mujhe sahi time pe pata chalgaya warna Soha pata nahi kya karti unke sath...

Let's go into the flashback -

Nandini was as usual returning from her institute.

Nandini was trying to avoid Manik as he would somehow figure out that she was not happy and would come to know her marriage thing. 

And he would definitely ask her about her future husband.

When Nandini was about to enter their house, a lady in her early thirties stopped her.

Lady- Suniye... 

Nandini stopped on hearing her.

Nandini - Aap mujhse baat kar rahi ho?

Lady- Ji... Aap hi Nandini Madam ho na...

Nandini - Ji... Aap kaun?

Lady- Mai wahi badnaseeb aurat hoon jiske pati se apki shadi hone wali hai.

Please aisa anarth mat kijiye. 

Nandini - Kya... But ap dono ka toh divorce ho gaya tha na.

Lady- Nahi. Hamara talak nahi hua.Wo to mujhse bahut pyaar karte hai.

Nandini Wo Soha Madam ne dhamki Di hai ki Agar ye aapse shadi nahi karenge to ...

Nandini got shocked hearing this.

Nandini - Toh...

Lady- Toh wo hamare bete ko maar degi.

Mera chota sa Beta unke paas hai. Agar mere pati ne ye shadi nahi ki toh... to mera bachcha...

Saying this the lady broke down in tears.

Nandini- Dekhiye aap please roiye mat. Aap hamare sath chaliye. 

Saying this Nandini took her to a nearby park.

Both of them sat on a bench and then Nandini asked - Aapne ye baat Pehle kyu nahi bataya hame. Itne dino se aap khamosh kyu ho?

Lady- 

Maine bahut koshish ki Par kabhi mauka nahi Mila. 

Magar aaj kisi bhi tarah mai Soha Madam ki nazron se bachkar aapse milne aayi hoon. 

Aap please Kuch kijiye.

Ye shadi Kisi bhi tarah rok dijiye. Hum aapke pao padte hai.

Nandini - Arey nahi... Kaisi baatein kar rahi ho aap. 

Sab kuch jaanne ke baad hum kaise karsakte hai ye shadi.

Aap bilkul bhi fikar mat kijiye mai Mummyji se baat karungi.

Lady got frightened after hearing this.

Lady- Nahi aap Badi Madam ko Kuch mat bataiye. 

Warna mera bachcha mujhe kabhi nahi milega. 

Soha Madam nahi chodengi usey.

Nandini -Acha theek hai hum kisise Kuch nahi batayenge. 

Hum khud hi Kuch karte hai.

Aap bilkul bhi fikar mat kijiye. Sab theek ho jayega.

Nandini thought for sometime and discussed a plan with the lady.

Nandini - Agar sab kuch theek raha to aapko apka bachcha bhi miljayega aur apka pati bhi.

The lady thanked Nandini and went away.

Nandini spent some time alone in the park and then came back to her house.

End of flashback.)

Nandini was thinking about all this when Manik opened his eyes.

Seeing this Nandini immediately closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.

Manik looked at Nandini and thought about how Nandini was trying to be so strong when in reality she was suffering so much.

Manik self thought-

I know Nandini that you love me.

Tum ye sab isiliye bol rahi ho taki mai guilty feel na karu. 

But I am feeling more guilty now after hearing all this from you. 

How can you be so selfless.

Tumhe khudki Khushi se badhkar dusro ki Khushi ki parwah hai.

I can't be selfish now. 

I know that I like Aliya but I guess it's just attraction nothing else but with you I feel different.

I don't know what I feel for you is love or no but it's a special feeling.

And I will make sure that you no longer suffer.

Your happiness is my responsibility from now on.

I will try my level best to fill your life with happiness and love.

Saying this Manik rested his head to the wall and fell asleep.

CHAPTER -44

The next morning, Manik got up early and went to consult the doctor if they could take Nandini home.

Doctor agreed to discharge Nandini and instructed Manik to make sure that Nandini doesn't go back on the pills again.

Manik assured the Doctor that it won't happen and he would take care of her.

Then Manik completed the hospital formalities and went to the room where Nandini and Shanti were still sleeping.

Manik looked at Nandini's angelic face for a few minutes.

Nandini was sleeping with a frown on her face.

Manik self thought- Nandini I won't let this frown remain on your face for too long. I will make everything ok.

Then Manik woke Shanti up and said - Bua. Ghar chale... Nandini ko discharge milgaya hai.

Shanti agreed and till then Nandini also woke up.

Shanti - Nandini Beta chalo, we can go home now.

Nandini just nodded and got down the bed . 

Nandini still had some weakness so she was about to fall but Manik rushed to her and held her tightly.

Shanti - Nandini sambhal ke Beta. Tum theek ho na. Chal paogi...

Nandini - Mai theek hoon...

Shanti - Kya theek ho... Chala bhi nahi jaraha tumse...

Manik - You are right Bua. I will help her.

Nandini - Nahi ... I am fine.

Saying this she looked at Shanti.

Nandini then thought that it's better not to create an unnecessary scene in the hospital so she kept quiet and allowed Manik to help her. Though she had decided to stay away from Manik but right now she had no choice.

The three of them reached home and Shanti took Nandini to her room.

Manik went to Nyonika's room to talk to her about cancelling the wedding.

Nyonika was alone in the room as Raj had gone on a business trip.

Nyonika - Manik ... Aao na Beta... Kya baat hai tum kaha the kal raat se. Kitne call kiye Maine tumhe...

Manik - Mom wo actually... Nandini had fainted while we were returning from Aliya's party. So she had to be hospitalised.

Nyonika - What??? How? Aur Kisi ne mujhe Kuch bataya kyu nahi? 

Manik - Mom mai raat ko batane aaya tha but aap so rahe the. That's why I thought to inform you in the morning.

Nyonika - Is she fine now?

Manik - Yes Mom she is Ok now. Mom mujhe aapse Kuch baat karni thi...

Nyonika - Kis baare me?

Manik - About Nandini...

Nyonika - Nandini ke baare me kya baat karni hai tumhe?

Manik - Mom I want you to call off her wedding. 

Nyonika - What? But why? Usey to koi problem nahi hai. Fir tum kyu bol rahe ho aisa?

Manik - Mom... Because she is not happy with this marriage alliance.

Nyonika - Nahi Beta Maine usse baat ki hai. She is ready. Usne tumse kaha hai kya ke she is not happy...

Manik - Mom you are not getting it. The thing is ke...

Manik was interrupted by Nandini who said - Mummyji hum ye shadi karenge. Hum Khush hai. Aap log hamari tension mat lijiye.

Nandini said all this looking at Nyonika avoiding eye contact with Manik.

Nyonika - Dekha mai bol rahi thi na Manik tujhe. Ab to Nandini ne bhi keh diya hai tere samne. Ab to koi problem nahi hai na tujhe.

Manik just kept looking at Nandini.

Nyonika - Nandini Beta tum bilkul bhi fikar mat karo. Tumhari shadi me koi kami nahi hone doongi mai. Bahut hi dhoom dham se hogi tumhari shadi.

Nandini just nodded and left.

Manik followed Nandini And stopped her by holding her wrist. 

Manik - Nandini kyu kar rahi ho tum ye sab. When you know that it will eventually hurt you. Aisi bhi kya majboori hai Jo tum itna bada decision le rahi ho. When your heart is somewhere else.

Nandini - Manik. Please... Humne bahut hi soch samajhke ye decision lia hai. Aur Ab hum peeche nahi jayenge. Isi me sabki bhalayi hai. Aur aap aisa koi bhi kaam nahi karenge jisse shadi me koi bhi rukawat aaye.

Nandini took Manik's hand and held it in both her hands and said- Promise me ki aap hamari baat maanege. Please promise me...

Manik freed his hand from Nandini's hand and left from there without saying a word.
