Sorry, not much, other, than that , she was a good warrior and committed Sati on death of Indrajit( not mentioned in VR) There are many folklores and the famous Meghnad badh kavya by MM Dutta

Ahalya's story will be dealt in two parts , since, the single post will get too long.
Ahalya , the first in the list of Panchkanya . Her story is sad very, very sad but it has a lot to teach, she is not given a voice, only silence and this silence screams of her innocence.

Ahalya literally means unploughed land, created by 'Brahma' ( an epithet for Brihaspati) She presides over the earth and her blessings renders our minds like an unploughed land , which is bereft of all malice. Her story is narrated in Ramayana ofcourse. Its in the Mahabharata and all the 18 puranas, the katha sarit sagar (ocean of stories) and all of them have a new dimension to add .
Ahalya is given to Gautama as wife (and Indra was disappointed!) because of his restraint over his senses; as time passes, their family grows and they have three sons Shatananda, Chirakarin and Saradwana, they also have a daughter Anjana (mother of Hanuman) who was adopted.
Indra was never able to forget and he kept a tab on Ahalya.
Brahma puran says Indra duped Ahalya by assuming Gautama's form while in some other stories she is aware of Indra coming as Gautama, some stories she is sexually assaulted by Indra
In Katha Sarit Sagar ,Indra disguised himself as a cat and entered Gautama's ashram and the latter sees him leaving , he angrily asks Ahalya " Who is standing there"? She remarks with a sly smile " esha khalau majjara"! That definitely is a cat ! In other words , she says: "that's my love". There's a pun on the word majjara, which in prakrit means my lover (ma - my; jara- love or lover)
Anyway Rishi Gautama was very furious and he curses her to be stone, which again is a pun on the word 'stone'
Ahalya was aghast, horror struck , petrified by the words of the rishi and she withdrew herself from the world around her.
Her story is curiously linked with the story of Ugratapas and Shilavati , the son and d-i-l of Atri and Anasuya .
The son was wayward and his wife was way too devoted and was blinded by his love. Once , Ugratapas wishes to visit a prostitute; a leper, he wouldn't listen to the counsel of his family and was very adamant to fulfil his wish. His wife Shilavati then decides to fulfill his wish and carries him in a basket , its dark and the lady and her husband don't notice rishi Mandavya engaged in meditation and , by mistake Ugratapas touches the rishi with his feet in terrible fury , the rishi curses Ugratapas to die before sunrise. Shocked after hearing the curse, Shilavati , then counter curses that , if she was ever devoted to her husband, if she had always served her elders with devotion then there'll no sunrise.
The whole world then panicked . Surya/ Sun had to stop his chariot and his charioteer Aruna was greatly agitated, sensing this opportunity he decides to play a prank. He turns into a woman and then enters Indra sabha, where Indra is enamored by her beauty and they make love , a boy is born out of this union , the boy was as beautiful as the mother , he is named as Suvalin (Vali/Bali) After this , Aruna becomes a man again and returns to take charge of his duties as charioteer of Surya. Surya wants to know about why Aruna was missing? The latter tells him what had happened , so now Surya wanted to have a look at Aruna's female form and he too goes Indra's way! Another boy is born out of this union and is called Sugriva .. the two boys wouldn't stop crying as they wanted a mother , who could look after them , I & S now have dilemma, where to find a mother?! Aruna can't be a woman again to take care as a mother, his job would get hindered so Indra thinks of Ahalya, his friend who was a good mother , apart from her own sons ( Shatananda, Chirakarin, and Saradwana) she had adopted a girl 'Anjana' and looked after them very well so he instructs Matali, his charioteer to leave the babies into Gautama ashrama quietly; Ahalya would know and take care of those babies and it happened exactly the same. The babies were raised with lot of love and care and rishi Gautama didn't like it one bit!!
Did we leave , the fate of Ugratapas hanging? Well, all the God's descend and request Anasuya to coax Shilavati to take back her words as the world would be plunged into darkness. The noble lady obliges and has to sacrifice her son. Vishnu then promises that tridev would take birth as her sons for the supreme sacrifice made.

Back to Ahalya

Indra would now visit Gautama ashram regularly , to see the children and to see Ahalya, on whom he always had a crush..
Sometime later Ahalya does take Indra as her consort and that's why he gets the curse but inspite of this act, she is declared as sinless by her son Chirakarin. Gautama had not only cursed Ahalya, he also orders Chirakarin to chop her head off and in the same fit of rage he gives away Anjana to his friend Kunjara, the vanara king and leaves the toddlers Vali and Sugriva to the care of riksharaja .
Chirakarin was in a great dilemma , he thought how could he kill his own mother from whom he had taken birth and yet how could he not fulfill the orders of his father who was also his Guru , he thought over for a very long time, years passed and he was still thinking! When Gautama returns from remorse, he apologizes to his son for uttering a terrible order but his son says , he was all the while thinking and this relieves Gautama , he accepts that given to his ego he had uttered terrible words and blesses his son to have a very long life Chiranjeevi bhava!
What reasons Chirakarin gives to his father, before he says his mother was sinless and why Gautama had to accept it ...?

Hey sorry to interrupt but we have been taught "Ahalya, Draupadi, Sita, Tara, Mandodari thatha, pancha kapnya smare nithyam, mahapapa vinashanam" which means it was Sita is one among the pancha kanyas but here you have mentioned Kunti as one among them? How come it is so?

Sita was added as an alternate to Kunti much later
Please read posts on 1st page ; each kanya represents five vital forces of nature .
Sita and Ahalya are earth personified , in such a case who will represent Ether ?
Plus the five Kanyas should have a balance of tamas, satva and rajas in them and Sita is a purely Satva guni.. a step above all the five ladies.
I'll write why Kunti was replaced from the list , when writing more about Kunti.

In south east asian stories versions like Hikayat seri rama , Ahalya is the 'real' mother of vali and sugriva
Ahalya's final redemption happens through Ram only.. coming in next part

Chirakarin begins to speak to his father , he says both father and mother are important in a child's life . The father was the highest heaven for a child . If father is happy then all deities are happy.

A tree might abandon its leaves and fruits, flowers but a father will never abandon his child similarly for a child , its mother is panacea for all sorrows, she holds a child in her womb so she is Dhatri, she nourishes her child so she is virasu and she is Amba because she raises a child from young to old.. how could I kill my mother ,who is so dear to me?

My mother is not a sinner , she gave her sacred self to a man who had come in your form . Have you forgotten , a man is called as Bhartri because he supports his wife, he is her pati , who protects his wife , he is the one who takes care of physical and spiritual needs of his wife, deeply tilted towards austerities, you have neglected my mother thus you cease to be her husband! These words from Chirakarin were like darts piercing his heart , Gautama admits to his folly and blesses his son for shattering his ego.

Days months and years pass by but Ahalya was still in a state of shock and had completely withdrawn from social life. Once a beautiful woman full of life , now had been reduced to a nonentity, her ashram which echoed with chirping of birds, now a dead silence had prevailed.

Rishi Vishwamitra (Kaushika) had known all this and one day he got with him two boys who were on the verge of entering manhood , whose minds were incapable of committing any sin , to the ashram of Ahalya and he narrated the sad tale of Ahalya, she waits for redemption , Rama and only you can do it. Its ordained, you're the chosen one son . Listening to his Guru , Ram entered the ashram of Ahalya, his face was bright yet calm and serene like morning sun. It gave a new hope to Ahalya , Ram's presence had washed away all her miseries, she looked at him awestruck. Ram proceeded further and touched her feet with reverence and said , mother come with me..why son, no I am a sinner , no mother , you're not , you cannot be . You have the forbearance of the earth itself , your austerities have made you purer than ever, you are now free of malice , he said and she felt unusually blissful.. She had seen the outer world after a very long time , she felt empowered and it was a new beginning for her .

PS : In Rigveda, Indra as an epithet is linked with Kaushika gotra to which Vishwamitra belonged , so it might not be a co incidence when Vishwamitra brought Ram and Lakshman with him and got Ahalya redeemed through Ram , that also meant Indra also was redeemed.

Tara - introduction
Tara , the name has its root in Sanskrit Tar , which means " to carry across"
She was born from the ocean during Samudra manthan along with apsaras Lakshmi and chandra . She is the presiding deity of water and chanting her name carries us across the ocean of existence . She is important as a deity in Mongolian Buddhist pantheon and is famously known as 'Dura eke' - Tara the mother.
During Samudra manthan, the strength of devas starts waning so Indra summons his valiant and powerful son Vali and with his help the churning of ocean is completed. Pleased with his valour , The devas give Tara in marriage to Vali. Sushena the vanara physician was her foster father.
In Hikayat Seri Rama , Sugriv is not pleased with Vali getting Tara as wife so he challenges Vali for a fight and loses comprehensively..
Rest coming soon..
