Tara - introduction

Tara , the name has its root in Sanskrit Tar , which means " to carry across"
She was born from the ocean during Samudra manthan along with apsaras Lakshmi and chandra . She is the presiding deity of water and chanting her name carries us across the ocean of existence . She is important as a deity in Mongolian Buddhist pantheon and is famously known as 'Dura eke' - Tara the mother.
During Samudra manthan, the strength of devas starts waning so Indra summons his valiant and powerful son Vali and with his help the churning of ocean is completed. Pleased with his valour , The devas give Tara in marriage to Vali. Sushena the vanara physician was her foster father.
In Hikayat Seri Rama , Sugriv is not pleased with Vali getting Tara as wife so he challenges Vali for a fight and loses comprehensively..
Rest coming soon..

Pl elaborate more on Tara , i think she is worshipped as Tantrik goddess as well
