What a marvellous thread ,thread maker
On a most worthy and thoughtful issue ...

Well the problem is with educated people they just talk like educated person but don't react in that way hardly some of us do whatever we said
the bias on the basis of skin tone is just an ridiculous mentality my father and me have slightly dark complexion but I can proudly say my father is way handsome than some fair complexion people ...

And

WE CAN SEE THE FACIAL BEAUTY OF A PERSON ONLY ONCE BUT ONLY THE BEHAVIOR OF PERSON CAN BE SEEN THROUGHOUT THE LIFE ...

Superb post!

This obsession with fairness came from Britain's colonization of India. The British were seen as superior because of their pale skin, and many Indians aspired to be like them to fit in and not be tortured or controlled by the British.

As per Hinduism, dark skin was actually prized and glorified. In the Ramayana, Lord Ram was described as dark-skinned and very handsome. As for Sita, she was described as having a "golden" hue, which in today's terms I think means "wheatish" or "dusky". In the Mahabharat, Lord Krishna is dark-skinned and Draupadi is also mentioned as a dark-skinned beauty many times. In fact, one of her names is "Krishnaa" which means dark-skinned, and this name is not an insult but a compliment. Draupadi is the most beautiful woman in Mahabharat and she is dark-skinned.

Goddess Parvathi is described as being dark-skinned in Devi Bhagavatham.

There is no mention of a "fair" God or Goddess in the puranas. So back in the olden days before the British ever set foot in India, no one cared about fairness. In fact, it was dark skin that was prized and glorified. A woman was still able to be beautiful even with dark-skin (like Draupadi).

Wonderful thread 👏

We should all accept how we are, have self belief and confidence in how we look. Yes it sounds very cliched but there are so many people out there that are a victim to inferiority complex.

There is absoloutely nothing wrong with being dark skinned or having a wheatish complexion. And I deplore the mentality that fair complexion defines beauty.

It is inner beauty that reflects on the face.
