Brothers Bollywood Movie Review 2015

Brothers is an upcoming sports drama film. It stars Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead roles. The film has been directed by Karan Malhotra and produced under Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Brothers is scheduled to release on 14 August 2015.

Brothers is an official remake of Hollywood film Warrior which released in 2011. The trailer of Brothers was received well but music has been a disappointment. The star cast of the film has raised audience expectations.

Brothers Review

Brothers revolves around the story of two brothers David Fernandes (Akshay Kumar) and Monty Fernandes (Sidharth Malhotra). Their father Gary Fernandes (Jackie Shroff) is an alcoholic who has to go to jail for his crime. David hates his father who is also a retired boxer. But Monty takes his father's side. This creates hatred between two brothers. David is married to Jenny Fernandes (Jacquline Fernandez) who is a big support for him. To take revenge from his brother, Monty works hard and get trained by his father. He reaches into the final of world championship of martial arts where he has to face his brother David.

Who will be the ultimate winner? Will David be able to forgive his father? Will David and Monty become reunited as brothers? Watch the film to find out.

Brothers Review: Direction, Editing, Screenplay

The film, remake of Hollywood release Warriors, has more or less the same story. However, its screenplay is not engaging which makes it boring for viewers. The film, no doubt, is a bit too lengthy and heavy because there aren't many light moments but the lack of humour is intentional so that the revenge angle is not diluted. The over dramatic family drama has ruined this extra ordinary looking sports film.

Director Karan Malhotra has earlier directed blockbuster Agneepath but this time he does not live up to the expectations. Though he impresses in some scenes where his direction is top notch. But it is screenplay that has let down the film. Music by Ajay Atul is a huge disappointment though it is difficult to integrate songs in a tension-ridden revenge drama like this film. Cinematography by Hermant Chaturvedi is top class. The fight sequences between Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra has been picturised extremely well.

Brothers Movie Review: Star Performances

' Akshay Kumar does an absolutely mind blowing job. He plays David so wonderfully that this could go as one of his career best performances. He has surely worked very hard for this role which has paid off.

'Sidharth Malhotra has also done equally well. It is just his fourth film and he has come a long way from Student of The Year. In his eyes, we can actually feel the hatred for his brother.

' Jackie Shroff is another name that needs to be mentioned. It is probably his best performance in last few years.

Brothers Review: Verdict

Brothers had the potential to become an excellent sports film but the over family drama has let it down. Though still it's worth watching because of Akshay and Sidharth terrific performances.
