Yesterday's episode felt like another confession, what a wonderfully executed 15 minutes, such beautiful emotions, portrayed brilliantly by everyone.
Sarcasm is second nature to Kabir, how much ever he humbled himself for Ananya and his love, he just can't help himself when it comes to the quirky one-liners ;). A sulking Ananya, getting sulkier by minute with no call or SMS from her Super Sadu boyfriend, immediately perking up hearing his arrival, all eager to meet him at her homeground, a nervous Kabir, not knowing how to broach the subject, instead opting to gulp glasses of water, as if the water has some magic potion to give him courage ;). Kabir attempting to make a conversation with Armaan, but somewhere both couldn't connect, the discomfort between the men coming out naturally, I think the only other time Kabir talked to Armaan, was when Kabir bailed him out after he got caught in the rave party, certainly not an ideal first meet.. In the middle of all these undercurrents and a speechless GF, Kabir just couldn't stop pulling her leg by questioning whether she doesn't talk to the guests, indirectly questioning her manners ;), Ananya is not the one to be fazed by sarcasm, demands the purpose of his visit, Kabir's next dialogue cracked me up, he coming to have water as he was thirsty while driving and her house was nearer, seriously, this man's sarcasm have no bounds and he doesn't learn from the past experiences, ;). Seems like when there is an impending apology or some uncomfortable conversation, Kabir resorts to sarcasm, reminded me of another time when he was attempting to apologise to Ananya and ended up angering her more by his sarcastic inquisition, the party scene where he waited all along for Ananya to turn up so-that he can apologise (another of Anurag's prompt advice) and when she did turn up, he spoilt it by commenting about her late arrival and finally ended up at the receiving end of her drunken outburst. Guess, it is a common phenomenon, especially for a man who makes his living by the power of his words ;).
But this time, Ananya had her mother to worry about, can't really retort back ;). Also I guess she was touched by his gesture of coming to her house, the demand of apology might have seemed juvenile to her after this gesture. But Kabir has bigger plans, it was always obvious that he wanted their relationship to have the stamp of approval from her family and friends too. Seems like the long eye lock he shared with Ananya too was part of his game plan, to make Ananya's mom question about what is going on between the two, as if his unexplained presence is not enough ;). From then on, the dedicated and humble lover took charge, there was no nervousness, no second thoughts, he was all out to get his girl, but with an inherent humbleness in his attitude, Kabir Sharma, the EIC, is not just a powerful man, he is also a charismatic man, he can make the women folk swoon at his feet, but does this make his head swell with ego... NO... he is humble enough to know that he is not a prize catch in the perspective of a young woman's mother, he knows that his reputation precedes him, and he knows that he had to bare himself one more time for any chance of winning his lady love ( without causing any damage to the mother - daughter relationship), baring himself once more , this time in front of a lady he barely knows, how tough it must have been for a proud, private person like Kabir, but he made himself do it because nothing is too big a price for his love. When Kabir said, irrespective of the consequences, he knows he is doing right (about coming out open ), it became obvious that he didn't start the topic out of the blues, he did come there with the intention of opening up, when he said, he wanted to tell her mom in the presence of Ananya, I got reminded of the episode when he first asked Ananya about informing her mother, that scene gave me a fleeting thought that he was unsatisfied with Ananya's reply and he might approach Ananya's mom on his own, probably behind Annaya's back, but this guy proved yesterday that he doesn't do things behind the back, Ananya's mom need to hear the truth about their relationship in the presence of his daughter, and thats exactly Kabir did. Is that only me who is feeling this, or is it really that Kabir's dialogues have that extra loveliness to it, seems that the writers enjoy writing dialogues for this character, the way he talked about his not so beautiful past, his present and his future which he wants to be made made beautiful by the woman in front of him, it really felt like it is coming from the bottom of his heart. And the confession looking at Annaya in her eyes, how much he loves her, how he can giveup himself for her happiness, how he can do any stupid things for her, and scold her when she does stupidity.. Didn't these dialogues summarise the last 2 weeks, the mighty Kabir Sharma doing stupid things like saying ILU in different languages, indulging her in all childishness, taking different avatar just to protect her and scolding her when her stupidness damages her own reputation.. Do we or Ananya need anymore explanation or apology from this man? But he is still grounded, he knows that his feelings doesn't necessarily make him a perfect choice for Ananya, and as a young woman's mother, Ananya's mom is entitled to have her apprehensions about him, he only humbly requests for a chance, and if Ananya's mom feels he doesn't deserve it, he is ready to give up the relationship, the look in his eyes when he said this, the nod to Ananya to make her agree, and the teary-eyed Ananya reluctantly nodding back, truly a classic scene, another beautiful conceptualisation, and heart-wrenchingly emoted. Ananya's mom was spellbound, who in her place could talk in such situation, and she did look impressed, but I can very well understand her disappointment with Ananya. Any mother in her place would be disappointed, especially when she already knew about Ananya's feelings for Kabir and she never reprimanded Ananya for it.
The phone convo was another master piece, the confident and supportive boyfriend Kabir, the roles reversed here, the usually optimistic Ananya is sceptical and is sure that her mom won't agree, but the usually realistic Kabir is confident of the power of their love, the way he described how he felt when he made the promise to her mom, another powerful set of dialogues, kudos to dialogue writers.. But what I loved most, how he described her 8 year wait for her father as not a failure, but as a path that took her to their destiny, her choice of career, her meeting of him and her implicit trust in him, everything was made possible by those 8 years and finally it led her to him. What a beautiful and positive thought..
