Title:
Farman of Mughal Emperor Akbar to protect a 'Brahmin of Mathura' from the harassment of Mughal officials + Scan of Original Persian Document  + Connection with Maharana Pratap, Ajabde Bai Sa & Mariam-Uz-Zamani

Today, I am sharing a Farman which was given by Mughal Emperor Akbar to a Brahmin who lived in the suburbs of Mathura. This farman is first in the series of farmans, given by the Emperor to prevent this Brahmin saint - Shri Vithal Rai, from harassment at the hands of Imperial Mughal officers.

The Emperor had given clear orders that no one should interfere with this Brahmin as regards his faith etc. and they should allow him to worship as per his custom, keeping the welfare of the Empire in mind.

This Brahmin was also a guru of Ajabde Bai Sa, who was the wife of Maharana Pratap. And he was also a Guru of Mariam Uz Zamani..

Abhay

Finally, the post I have been waiting for ages!!

This is the first time I am looking at a farman by Akbar and this is so fascinating!!! Thanks a lot! :)

Shri Vithal Rai, btw, is special to me because he is also Telugu :)

The Krishna Bhakti of Rajputs is famous. That Akbar took such an eminent Krishna bhakt under his patronage or rather sought his spiritual guidance and protected him personally through farmans speaks volumes about the tolerance of AKbar and also his abiding bond with Harka Bai. For it must have been she who introduced him to this sect.

I have read the book by Tirmizi and I support you fully in that the Mughal ladies took a personal interest in the welfare of their subjects and in the implementation of the Emperor's farmans for the welfare of the common people. They often followed up with farmans of their own to ensure that the Emperor's wishes were carried out in letter and spirit.

Looking forward to more such posts from you :) And thanks again!

Hi Abhay,  Nice post again.  U r doing a commendable job by digging deep n giving us some beautiful information about this wonderful  n lovely couple.  Before coming to this forum, I used to like them n curious to know about them.  Even though I read 1 r 2 references about MUZ , I came to know about her with ur blog n posts. this is great workπŸ‘πŸ‘. thanks a lot for this info about AKBAR.
We all know about AKBAR's religious tolerance .  Even though he faced severe criticism from his own religion, he never backed off from his policies.  Some people say quite easily that he did all these to placate the Hindus.  But if we c his strategies n power, we can understand this point that if he really didn't want to be liberal in his policies towards all his subjects, he could have done that also.  Then also he would have ruled Hindustan.  Strong example for this is Aurangazeb.  Even though he is an orthodox person n believed in his religion only, he also ruled for somany years.  AKBAR has done all these things because he has a different perspective n he really loved n cared for this land n people very much.  He really had that desire n vision to unite the people of this country.  He was really ahead of not only his times, but also our times.  Because even in this 21st century also people r really trying to divide people wit the help of caste, community n religion.  People r not backing off from killing others also for religion.  If u compare him with other rulers, we can find very few people who were really broadminded, considerate towards other religions.  We cannot ignore MUZ's contribution in this regard.
I can clearly understand n believe this that they really shared a beautiful bond some thing which is so special.  They faced somany obstacles in their path, they even met with personal tragedies like loosing their grown up children, even though they r SH n MEH they also faced the opposition n insults of their own relatives for their religious tolerance n liberal policies.  I also read in one r two books in my native language (i.e. telugu, n those accounts r very much criticism ) that RUKS along with Badayouni used to criticize them for this.  Is it true? did she do this?  😑 I really would like to know about this . If u know anything regarding this pls. make a post.
Thank u once again for ur beautiful post.
