Hi all,

Though, I have to catch up with the episodes to check out how much of Natkiya Rupanter the CV's have done in Chittor war track. But, finally I have just now posted the 3rd article in the series of posts which i am making for Chittor War. It took lot of time, to get info from different sources and understand it and then post it.!

As we know, this war was not only restricted to the Fort of Chittor, but was a well planned move on the different regions of Mewar as well.

This talks about the war at Kumbhalgarh. Akbar had sent Husain Quli Khan at Kumbhalgarh, but the fort could not be taken. Same for Udaipur also, where Akbar had sent his general to get Rana Udai Singh when he came to know that the Rana has left Chittor Fort.

At Mandalgarh, the battle was fought by one of the best generals of Akbar - Asaf Khan ; and Wazir Khan. This fort was captured by them after Rau Ballu Solanki fell in this war, when the Rajput forces were exhausted. Mewar forces never had numerical advantage as they were generally outnumbered.

Udaipur and Kumbhalgarh remained in Mewar's control only. Mandalgarh and Bijolia were lost to the Mughals. Rampur was also attacked and prisoners/spoils were taken from there.

BTW, Can someone tell me, in the show , was it Rampur only, where the CV's had shown, Mughal forces attacking it for prisoners/slaves and spoils ? After which Rana Udai Singh gave refuge to those people in the fort of Chittor ? I think, that place was shown to be Rampur, though, i want to confirm it. This is mentioned in Akbarnama in 'glorious' terms.!

Though, this may look bad to many of us now, as we are thinking from the perspective of 21st Century, but in those days of warfare, this was a normal practice.! The population of the captured area was normally rallied. This was done in Kashmir area too.! Scholars also point that the same strategy was also employed in Chittor area after capturing it, but Akbar was not successful in doing so.

Prisoners were taken captive and spoils of war taken from these areas are mentioned in the records. Also lays emphasis on the strategy followed by Mughal forces and mentions how Akbar encircled the fort from all sides. How more and more troops kept joining him from time to time. How his officers placed canons at different locations for sudden attacks on the fort in order to surprise to his enemy. He waited for a long time, before launching this attack.

The strategy on both sides was that of wait and watch..
Overall a good read.
The language is cumbersome, though i tried to narrate the events at each point.!

More details given the post itself. Here is the link of Part-3:

Abhay my history encylopedia you are back with an interesting post...so happy to see you here on the forum
CVs have spoilt alot of things and I'm sincerely praying they do justice to the Saka-Jauhar track
I mean they are focusing only on Chittor whereas they should have shown that other places in teh kingdom were under attack as well (apart from the one village where US rescued people from) at least then Patta's absence could be justified
Also I hate the fact they have totally butchered Ajabde's character - she is supposed to be a strong support system and Baijilal (i'm still not sure if that is historically correct or was it something they made up) was her one facet that impressed a lot of viewers but now we only see her as this tear shedding bahu

Akbar has now turned into this vile man who uses all tricks to get what he wants - wasn't he a great strategist and the reason behind him not fighting Pratap are pukeworthy according to me - Peer Babab foretold that he would die if he fought against Pratap in one-on-one combat (does it carry an ounce of truth?)

We all know what happened with Salima and Ruqqaiya is totally out of the picture ...I mean I ahve so many rants but I won't shed them all here instead am going to goa nd enjoy your posts and then come back again

good to see you Abhay 🤗🤗🤗

Garima and Rinall.
Welcome. Read at leisure. :)

I was aghast already when i saw character assasination of Salima Begum.
I am REALLY HAPPY that she is not shown now.
Thanks to the CV's for small mercies.!

I also wanted to see Patta here. What's wrong with CV's. They introduce all nonsense things but can not show Patta who was really present in Chittor's siege.!

And finally about Akbar, i am restraining myself from commenting here. I have already expressed by disappointment elsewhere. Views
When they had shown him attacking Rana Udai Singh. I didn't know what to do then.!

Thank you for the great info!
kumbhalgarh was indeed a powerful fort! and that fort was never conquered as long as Pratap was there; I heard that only once did the mughals took over it when Pratap was not there but he came back and won it back!!!

UNRESSS****

Ok...My bad !! The word Answer sounds very definitive...My Personal Views sounds like a better phrase ! 😆

Abhay, first of all, thanks for this amazing info. :)

In your post, u mentioned that Hussain Kuli Khan had returned with the spoils from Udaipur n Kumbhalgarh...but did not or shall I say, he could not capture it. In some other post here or somewhere in the domain, I red that MP was actually stationed in Kumbhalgarh, I dont know whether its true or not. But if it is true, then one can imagine why Khan was not able to conquer it.

But if u are saying he was neither in Kumbhalgarh or Udaipur, then I m assuming its true. But actually, I cannot agree that there were no other generals of Mewar stationed in those places.

Akbar had himself personally been a part of the Chittod siege, so its but obvious that wherever the king is, there will also be largest number of cavalries, army men etc.

Sending Hussain Khan with just a detachment and that too for conquering forts of Kumbhalgarh and Udaipur...do u really think it was possible ? Coz, I m not able to digest it !

On the other hand, Asaf khan and Wazir Khan captured the fort of Mandalgarh which was under the leadership of Rao Ballu Solanki... and they were also successful in conquering Rampur (is that a place or a fort ??) My reasoning is, it is either that these 2 fav generals of Akbar were hell capable and together were able to pull it off well, or it can be that Mandalgarh is located at a position where its strategically easier to conquer unlike Chittod n Kumbhalgarh.

Abhay, consider, just for reasoning, if u are thrown back in time, and u are one of the chronicler of Akbar, will u be able to write that Hussain came back empty handed from Kumbhalgarh n Udaipur ?? Esp. when his counterparts were successful in their exploits..?! Wouldn't it look inappropriate if Faz'l writes that Hussain was defeated by the home forces in Udaipur n Kumbhalgarh, while others came back victorious..??

Many of these authors have praised the Rajput valour and their warrior skills, but I don't think they can allow themselves to write about their generals' defeats, after writing about many victories !

I m not, in anyway accusing Faz'l reagrding his writings, all I m saying is, its plausible to think that some facts might have been covered up to glorify the the Mughal era under Akbar's rule. As u say, it can only be known, if Mewar's current royals reveal any detailed info..! :)
