SW : i was referring repeat run of Samudra only. I know 2 special is new and could not have come earlier on CHYD. But I definitely remember spruha & CM coming to CHYD for samudra. They recently completed century of Samudra plays.

Yes, NJ, I knew it yesterday night and had come to the forum to post about it but amidst the office work and calls to India all I could do is reply to SW's post. 😔

All Beautiful songs NJ 👍🏼 . All from Lekin are my favorites too.

There is so much of his writing available on various websites (that discuss in detail his poems, shayari, nazms etc) and books too. I feel lot of his writing is reflective of the times in which he grew up .

All the songs from the 1st video that I have posted DO NOT have chandani raat in any of the songs. I agree movie songs are made based on the demand of the situation, but if that was his habit, chand and chandani can come in any time 😛. So many hit marathi romantic songs are incomplete without the "chandane" 😳

Anyone remembers Mirza Ghaalib serial on DD starring Nasseruddin Shah? Beautiful Gazals in this TV series directed by Gulzar sahab. Most of them sung by Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh ❤️

In the last few years - surprisingly Gulzar has written songs like Bidi Jalai le & Bunty aur bubbly songs or Slumdog millionaire which won him awards and even as ordinary songs as Drishyam (which are neither popular nor great). Gone are the days of Aandhi, Mausam, Parichay, Ijazat. 😭 But it happens with every artist and Gulzar is no exception. Still he is one of the greatest poet & writer-director in B'wood.

I also read about Sachin Khedekar's interview in MaTa.. The only serial I remember he had worked in was ZM's Bandhan along with Nivedita Joshi and Ajinkya Dev. It was a very good serial on very different topic and I think it finished within 4-5 months. That time I wished these people would do more such serials!

Haven't watched CHYD in many days.. Got bored of their so called comedy acts and same people coming again & again to promote.. I think they should resume Avdhoot Gupte's KTG once again (withe some modifications).. AG had really done good job as an anchor and it was a good show overall.

Gulzar is my weekest point along with Sahir..!!

NJ, Neela - I enjoyed your posts thoroughly 😊 I would love to read and enjoy what people say about Gulzar. Of course, there are people who are not his fans, but then that's their personal choice. I have enjoyed his work and for me, there are only two true poets and lyricists in film industry. Sahir is the first and Gilzar comes second. (I'm only talking about lyricists who worked in industry.. there are many other great poets outside, no doubt. )

While we are talking abt his work, let me share something interesting. We all know about the song Dil dhundta hai.. It's originally a Ghalib sher with the same lines.. but the pause is at different position.. Original sher goes like

Dil dhoondta hai fir wohi fursat,

ke raat din baithe rahe tasavvur-e-jana kiye hue

Gulzar saab extended the sher for the movie and changed the caesura (break between 2 lines of a poem) to suite the musical as well as new song's requirements.. Ek quabil shayar kya kuchh nahi kar sakta..!
