Superstar Aamir Khan has come under a lot of tongue-lashing for his views on AIB Knockout. The latest round of attack has come from actress Pooja Bhatt and comedian Russell Peters.
Controversy over the roast comedy of AIB Knockout' featuring Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor has split the film industry down the middle. Aamir Khan recently made explicit his disapproval of the show, calling it violent'. Aamir said he was deeply affected and disappointed by the show that features roast', a form of insult comedy with liberal use of expletives. The superstar also admitted that he hasn't watched the show, but only seen it in bits and parts.
I'm deeply disappointed with AIB Knockout: Aamir Khan
Director Tarun Mansukhani has already criticized Aamir Khan for his comments.
Now, Pooja Bhatt, whose younger sister Alia Bhatt is named in the FIR and may face a legal action for her involvement in the show, has jumped into the fray.
"I feel it's hypocritical self-styled moralists and the Aamir Khans of the world, who are more frightening and injurious. I am appalled at his sudden self-righteous mode. He has completely forgotten his body of work - the double meaning song, 'Bhaag DK Bose' in Delhi Belly, and the 'PK' poster where he left nothing to the imagination, putting Sunny Leone to shame," Pooja Bhatt is quoted as saying by Hindustan Times. She worked with Aamir Khan in the 1991 rom-com Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin.
On the other hand, comedian Russell Peters, who visited India for a show, ripped into Aamir Khan and said he (Aamir) should be told to shut up.
"Seriously, who is he (Aamir Khan), the so-called artist, to say that he found it violent and that AIB and rest involved should have been responsible? He did not even see it! Someone please ask him to shut up and take care of his own business," Peters is quoted as saying by HT.
Peters added that Aamir wasn't even a real artist.
"He is an actor; not even a real artist. He goes in front of the camera and reads out lines that someone else has written. Then, he is giving his opinion about something that is honest!"
A lot of celebs in Bollywood have spoken in support of AIB Knockout.
