'I would not like to blow my own trumpet'

Aadesh Shrivastava is a passionate musician who acclaims that he belongs to the old school of music. Though he wanted to become a doctor he changed his route to play the drums instead. He has come far in his career providing entertaining music. The latest from his kitty is 'Babul' featuring Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham, Salman Khan, Hema Malini and Rani Mukerji. After composing for 'Baghban', the music of which was widely praised, he composes the score again for the next from this production house. More on the music of the film he says, "I would not like to blow my own trumpet. All I can say is that let the music be released and people will definitely like it." The highpoints of the album is that Amitabh Bachchan has yet again sung for him. Aadesh says that Amitji is his unanimous choice when it comes to playbacking for himself as he finds no other singers ideal other than Kishore Kumar to do the playbacking.

Aadesh voices out his point on the current music scenario. "It is disheartening to see how young music directors are lifting songs and claiming success. Tell me who is using raagas these days, and this new trend of calling singers from across the border is also not done. We have so many talented singers, why do we need singers from other countries? Even in my latest film, I am launching two new singers. I am not a great musician who has a bank of 1000 songs to boast about. I am a modest composer who is trying to give his best to the music lovers of the country," he reveals. On his career front he is looking for an international album this time. Everything has been planned though he is not ready to reveal the details yet.

Appada,

Thanks for sharing. His words sound good, but past experience from c2005, somehow holds me back from believing it all...

lets wait for the new score...

Yes, looking forward to the film and music too.

Gist of the article: Quality counts, not quantity.

But I don't agree with his comment on the 'new trend of calling singers from across the border is also not done border' though. Why not just appreciate music, regardless of where it comes from?

I have very high hopes on the music of Babul. I don't know how all the songs will be, but I am confident that there are some wonderful songs by Sonu Nigam. I have watched an interview of Sonu Nigam few months back where he was talking about the music of Babul. Did you all know that Sonu refused to take money for the songs of Babul. He said that "I cannot take money for singing these songs. It is not fair that you give me the opportunity to sing these wonderful songs and then I charge you for it". And I trust Sonu when he says something like this.
