The fact that now even characters like Baa and Pakhi who were once most regressive and toxic characters of this show seem more practical and logical than Upma, it means that she has stooped too low. Trust me, she would have given even Doshu and Pakhi a second chance while she would quickly turn away from Samar, Rahi, Crinjal, Mahi, any grandkid or anyone else. Doshu has done thousands of horrible acts including actual frauds, thefts and defamation. He still lives in Shah House. His wife didn’t divorce him. He still got a chance to raise his daughter. Baa was right when she said that Lord Krishna was related to Kans who was a literally a demon a tyrant who committed loads of crimes while Prem is a literal angel compared to Kans. She herself shouldn’t have come for inspection in the first place since it involved a family member or she should v given him a second chance like she has given Doshu and Makhi so many times. Dont get me started on that. Plus she acts so conveniently that others force her to do all this and she doesn’t want to give them any second chance. No sane woman would talk to the son who framed her for his own crime, let alone give him a job. She literally forgave the psycho woman Megha who hurt her physically to the point of death. She was cordial with Barkha and Ankush even after 5 year leap when their track record was sus. When Pakhi was physically abusing Adhik, she actively defended her by calling her young and naive and when she suddenly became good temporarily and Adhik did the same, she was about to call the police. But few months later Adhik attained literal sainthood and even now Upma openly defends Adhik in front of Pakhi. The poor guy actually changed before her own son ever could. He also got his karma as he never got to raise his daughter while Pakhi raised Ishani by being an abusive and controlling mother. She even chose to help Kavya hide the fact that she cheated on Vanraj. This woman’s a damn hypocrite. She should have done what Tulsi would have done. She should have Doshu and Makhi to the court everytime they committed a crime and should have ensured Ishaani’s custody went to Adhik. Plus Pakhi physically abused Adhik first so I doubt Adhik counts as a Donestic Abuser at her level. When Doshu thought Kinjal was cheating on him, Onu ensured that Kinjal knows her maryaada. Instead she should have said so what since Doshu has already cheated on her many times and it would be fair if Kinjal does the same. Tit for tat. Her main motives are always to hurt her children to the point of ruining their lives. Samar died trying to save her husband from a goon thinking she actually loved Anuj. Maya died trying saving her life and so did Prathana. When she got to know about Aryan’s addiction, she should have informed Kotharis then and there so that they could do something about it in time just like when she told everyone about Doshu’s affair on Pari’s Naamkaran day. Everytime she sees a committed man having an affair, she remembers Vanraj and Kavya. Why? She divorced the man. He is out of her life for good. She married someone else already. Why does that thing sting her even now? Then she even remembers Anuj and Maya when Anuj always maintained boundaries with her compared to her and the same Vanraj after their divorce and that same Maya sacrificed her own life to save Onupamaa’s life. She should at least hold Maya’s memory in high regard and esteem she deserves. When Maya’s husband met her years later, she was just like don’t speak ill of the dead instead she should have defended Maya by saying that her husband had forced her into that life and abused and tortured her yet she was bold enough to escape that hell and ensure her child is safe from those demons in a safe and secure orphanage. In due time Maya had made something for herself and tried to get back Anu now that she could give her the safe environment. She should have lauded Maya’s memory and even mention how she even died trying to save her. Rahi deserves the truth about her origins and her biological mother too and how she saved Rahi’s life.
