Things that are weirdly named after celebrities
Shah Rukh Khan: The charismatic badshah of Bollywood is not only the king of hearts but is also very popular among his fans across the globe. And it was on the occasion of his 44th birthday in 2009 that a piece of moon was named after him. A TOI report dated January 2010 says that the International Lunar Geographic Society, a New York-based organsation devoted to the study of the moon, had declared that a lunar crater in the moon's Sea of Tranquillity was christened after Shah Rukh Khan. Quoting an official from the society, the report said that the crater was been given the honorary designation as the Crater S R Khan on the occasion of Mr Khan's 44th birthday on November 2, 2009. However, later there were reports that refuted these claims.
Madhuri Dixit-Nene: The gorgeous actress, who has dazzled millions of fans across the globe with her smile, has a star in the Orion constellation named after her. An India Today report dated June 2012 says that members of 'The Empress' fan page took several efforts to get a celestial body named after Madhuri. The 13-member club even went on to meet the actress on the sets of show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa to present her with the certificate. The actress was left awestruck and thanked her fans profusely. She tweeted, "Wanted to thank my fans for the honour. They had a star in the Orion constellation named after me."
Sanjay Dutt: If you think just naming cafs, hotel chains or restaurants after celebrities is enough, then think again. You will be surprised that food dishes and delicacies too have been christened after celebs. So while there is a delicious chicken delicacy named after Sanjay Dutt, Telugu star-politician Chiranjeevi too has a dosa named after him. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the owner of Noor Mohammadi Hotel in Bhendi Bazaar in Mumbai named a dish of chicken after Sanjay Dutt as a gesture of gratitude. The recipe of that dish was given by the actor and it instantly became popular.
Amitabh Bachchan: Be it his looks or personality, his baritone or angry man persona, his exuberance or humility, Amitabh Bachchan is undoubtedly the most loved actor of all times. Hence, it does not come as a surprise that a waterfall as well as a temple have been named after him. The waterfall, originally called Naga Falls, lies on the road connecting Chungthang to Yumthang Valley in North Sikkim district of Sikkim. It is said the renaming was done because of the height of the waterfall. It got named 'Amitabh Bachchan falls'. Even a temple in Kolkata was christened after him due to his popularity. In fact, an Indian Express report dated July 2001 says that Big B was himself embarrassed that his fans have built a temple in his name.
Mallika Sherawat: If our actors have dishes named after them, then our sexy actresses too have milkshakes christened after them. And why not! After all, they are so sexy and drool-worthy. Joining the likes of Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus and Victoria Beckham, Mallika Sherawat became the first Indian actress to have a Hollywood milkshake named after her. Mallika, who visited Millions of Milkshakes in West Hollywood, has been honoured with her very own milkshake called the 'Mallika shake', says a report from Contactmusic.com. The shake, according to the report, has blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Even Priyanka Chopra has a shake named after her song Exotic.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: Considered as one of the most beautiful women of the world, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has made India proud on the global platforms several times. She is a beauty with brains and has a heart of gold. Hence, it did not come as a surprise to us that a special variety of tulip flower was named after her in Netherlands. It was said that the flowers were named as a celebration of her beauty. And true to their name, the tulips are indeed very pretty.
Shahid Kapoor: Like the gorgeous Madhuri Dixit-Nene, actor Shahid Kapoor too has a star named after him. The star, which is reportedly named after Shahid, is located in the Orion constellation. A Mumbai Mirror report dated 2012 says that a group of Shahid's fans had bought a star for him and named it Shahid. Sources have confirmed that the star was booked by his fans through the official website starfoundation.net.'
Raj Kapoor: The iconic actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor was rightly called Showman of Indian cinema as he was very popular among his fans and also did movies that entertained the audience.
