"I am sorry again Vaibhavi... I am..." I apologised and she just nodded, it seemed as if she was exhausted... had the day been too much for her? Could be? She drowsed and dozed off soon, her face far away from the peace and calm. Something troubled her.
I sat next to her for the whole night, changing the cotton wet cloth till her temperature dropped. As days passed by she seemed very recluse and even the anger that she displayed against me was dissipated, it was as if she accepted fate all too early.
I used to speak to her every evening, speaking about Natasha and Kabir - that's the only time her eyes used to be in contact with mine. At times I used to speak about my career. The rest of the time I would ask for forgiveness and she would shake her head. It was as if she was mentally fatigued.
The relationship of hatred had disappeared and it scared me for a moment. For she was all platonic and ignorant.
I prodded her to be angry against me when all she did was half smile "Usse mere per nikal jayenge... you were immature and rash, papa got just... that's all that matters." she mumbled and went back to staring at the window.
Even though at times I would pick her up and place her in the wheelchair, she would keep quiet. What had happened suddenly?
"Vaibhavi?" I asked her and she said "Would you physically abuse me Veer? If you had the opportunity to do so?" she asked.
"NEVER!" I looked back shocked... why was she asking me all this? "Kal kya hai... Saturday na?" She asked and I nodded.
She mumbled okay and looked outside. "Veer... do you want forgiveness?" she asked all of a sudden and I definitely nodded. "Kal mujhe bahar le javoge... away from everything... for the whole day..." she said and I was taken aback.
Since when did she start enjoying my company? Ram placed a hand on his heart and started his drama... this was the only moment when Vaibhavi would actually laugh.
"Wah... meetha main bann raha hoon par ghumna hai Sir ke saath... hey bhagwaan kya teri roop kya teri maya!" Ram gave a dramatic pose to which Vaibhavi answered "Kabhi kabaar haalat aise hote hai that one prefers to be with a known enemy than an unknown friend you know..." her voice faltered and that strung series of doubts in me.
What did she mean?
3rd POV
The next day we were out in our car... while she looked at the landscape hungrily, her eyes were closed and the windows were rolls down, she enjoyed the simple ride in the SUV. "Umm Vaibhavi, the doctor is coming for a checkup, main soch raha hoon ki tum kuch der raho yaha pe tab till he checks you okay?" Veer said and placed Vaibhavi on the bed while she paled immediately.
"What? Par kyun? Doctor ki kya zaroorat hai? Veer? I told you not to take decisions for me right! I am perfectly fine! Why don't you damn trust me!" Vaibhavi hyperventilated leaving Veer confused.
"Easy there tigress! Oh my the rockstar Veer! I am Dr. K Mehra! Glad to meet you here!" A mid thirty man smiled at Veer while Veer shook hands with him.
The doctor was a built up man "Usually I work here in the army base, come here once a month, especially for tigress!" he chuckled while Vaibhavi sunk in her bed, Veer half smiled... it almost seemed as if Vaibhavi feared him.
"Vaibhavi all ok?" Veer asked while the Dr gently pushed him aside "Tigress is perfect Mr. Veer! I'll just administer the injection and she will be as fit as a fiddle..." The doctor gave an extra sweet smile while Vaibhavi shook her head no...
Before Veer could comprehend he got a call from Ram as it was dealing with one of his shows. "Ram, just keep an eye... I don't know why Vaibhavi was so scared..." Veer muttered and spoke to the person on phone.
"Sir... I'll just go to the washroom and then come back... give me five minutes..." Ram said and Veer almost laughed by the tight face of Ram's.
He cancelled the call and was supposed to go to the room and found it locked. Strange.
"Dai? Yeh locked kyun hai?" Veer asked. "Woh Beerda Doctor babu sab check karte hai na, toh koi na aaye andar isliye..."
"Wait... sab check karne ka matlab? Andar koi female nurse to hoga right?" Veer looked at the Dai who scratched her head.
Veer cursed under his breath, he walked around the house and went near the window of Vaibhavi's room... what he saw left him shocked.
The doctor and Vaibhavi were being very intimate together... but wait... something was wrong... Vaibhavi was pushing away the doctor...
Veer ran into the house while Ram came out, they both broke open the door to have found the doctor shocked!
"Yeh kya badtameezi hai! Mm... aise darwaaze..." the doctor couldn't say anything further as Veer had clutched his neck... "What the hell were you doing with her?" he growled and pinned him to the wall..
"Woh meri fiancee hai!" the doctor squealed and Veer left him in shock. Veer looked at a sleepy Vaibhavi, her dupatta was on the floor and the kurti was pulled quite low...
However Veer noticed no ring on the finger, he draped Vaibhavi with the dupatta and cupped her cheeks, his blood boiled at the slight hickeys and motioned Ram to keep a hold on the doctor.
"Vaibhavi... Vaibhavi?" Veer patted her cheeks and she got up, her eyes drowsy... "Veer?" she looked disbelievingly.
"Yeh behosh kyun hai? Wait... injection main kya tha?" Veer shouted at a petrified doctor. "Tumhare koi fiance hai?" Vaibhavi opened her groggy eyes and nodded...
NO...
Veer clenched his jaws and took a deep breath. He tied the dori of her kurti and covered her.
"Saale... tu toh gaya... Ram... iske upar saare charges thoko aur jail ki salakho ke peeche rakkho... samjhe..." Veer said and within minutes Ram brought a policeman in front.
"Suno, FIR file karwaana hai, he was molesting her, witness, hum teen hai." Ram spoke to them and as the police took the doctor who shouted against them, Ram knew how to shut him up and handle the police so as to the doctor would be in jail for a good few months - the least.
"Vaibhavi..." Veer patted her cheeks and hugged her tight. He had to set things right - simple.
As she rest her head on his chest unintentionally, dozing off, he realised why she was so tired and why she wanted to stay away with him.
Away... yes that's where she would go.
