Don't jump at any conclusion reading the headlines, though with the cricket fever on with the DLF tri-series, it is more obvious. 'Hat Trick' is Milan Luthria's next and Hema Malini was supposed to essay an important role in the film. But now her part has been scrapped and she will not appear in the film anymore where she was paired opposite Naseeruddin Shah. Luthria made the call after he completed the script and realized that the role for which he wanted Hemaji was not up to the mark.
"When the final script was complete, I realised that the character was not an integral part of the story. We wanted to develop the character more and give it a proper shape. I informed Hema Malini about it and she appreciated the fact that I didn't waste her valuable time and came clear on what the film demands. She is far too big to be dropped from any project. When you sign Hemaji, people expect to see more of her on screen. I didn't want to waste her. I will be working with her in a project, which will revolve around her. She deserves the best," says Luthria. About the film he says that it has nothing to do with cricket and will be a comedy with an emotional climax. Naseeruddin, Paresh Rawal and Kunal Kapoor are in main roles of the film.
He will begin shooting for the film in Mumbai from October onwards and will move to London and West Indies to complete the shoot. The film is slated to release in February 2007.
