But I detest Saathiya now.
The way they are talking about "Hasmukh" and the way they are portraying him is nothing short of disgusting in my opinion.

Agreed, hearing that your sister has fallen in love with a driver is not ideal... but why is the Modi family treating their driver like an dirty, inanimate object? Does human value, morals, personality and character have no value to Indian audiences? Is his job the only qualification of a good husband?

I would prefer Hasmukh, or even Dhawal, to a man like Ahem any damn day.

When Gopi "the wife" was entering the home, her career, independence and education meant nothing... because how well she prepared dinner was of more importance.

But for a man, education and salary trumps all!

Are these the gender roles we want to teach our kids?

Tell girls that being a good wife means being a good homemaker and being a good husband means making a salary over a certain threshold? Why can't women be independent and make an income? Why can't a man be deemed suitable if he is working a low paying job?

Such utter and complete bullshit.

SNS has permanently lost me as a viewer.

I believe all humans deserve respect... be it a driver or a gardner or a businessman like Ahem. We need to progress with time, not live in the dark ages forever.

Sorry if I offend anyone.

I also don't get it - why being with a driver is such a scandal? Is it because of the caste system?

If it's one thing that these serials are, it's regressive. All adhere to and promote gender, status stereotypes and perceptions. A dutiful husband is one who considers his wife second, even third! A dutiful DIL is one who is treated like a workhorse, mostly treated like a maid, is not expected to talk back, have a mind or wish of her own and be garelu and not have any notions of wanting to pursue a career.
As for Koki, her mother is still alive. Who is she to dictate who, when or where Jigna is to be married. In her current state Hasmukh is no relation to her. What gives her the right to declare that he will marry Mani!

Also one thing that bothers me is that why does Ahem always blame Jigar whenever anything happens to Kokila. He always gets mad at him just because Jigar went to his room to see his wife. Ahem needs to grow up, and should learn that Kokila is not the only mother in the world. And I'm pretty sure Ahem would argue with Jigar if the situations was reversed. Then he scolds Rashi for arguing with Kokila because Kokila wanted Jigar and Radha to get married. Ahem should know that he has no right to interfere between Rashi and Jigar. Ahem is such a loser. Sometimes I wish Gopi could stand up for her sister and devar and make Ahem understand.

I agree with you...just because a person is a driver they become disgusting!! People only want "bank balance" when they look for proposals...So what if he is a driver...doesnt he have the right to marry who he wants...Kokila treats him like dirt just because in her eyes...he earns less and is driver...This mentality will never change in India...people judge each other by their position and status... its really disgusting...😡

Instead of raising awareness Indian soaps highlight it even more in such a sick way!! I live in london and i am not ashamed to say I have friends who are drivers...so what!!

People like Dhaval and Jigar are much better than Ahem...they are more down to earth and more supportive...Kokila anyway has always placed money on top that is why she hates her husband and wanted Ahem to take over everything so that she gets respect in the house...Seeing her mentality Kinjal and Ahem are like that...Kinjal always insulted Dhawal and Ahem used to bring Jigar down...🤢

Agreed that this mentality is from the past but just a thought maybe (and i might be overthinking this and hyping up the Cvs intelligence here) they're purposely showing this because its the mentality of the past and she's stuck in the past- a good 20-30 years in the past where this mentality was the norm, i'm probably wrong though 😊
