Param (Anurag Sharma) finally gets his due in Star Plus novel based drama Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. Shamed that he was unable to protect the mother of his child, Raman (Karan Patel) sets out to prove Ishita's (Divyanka Tripathi) innocence. He cunningly switches his phone with Param's to lure Sarika (Sarika Dhillon) out of her hiding spot.
After learning the truth from Sarika, Raman makes a deal with her. He promises to help Sarika financially if she exposes Param in front of the Bhalla family. As layers of Param's past unravel, the demons within him become evident to everyone but Simmi (Shireen Mirza), who still believes that Param is an ideal husband. As Param's skeletons come pouring out of the closet, Raman breaks the shackles of his ego and family bondage.
Thus far, the plot of the show focused on Ishita's relationship with Ruhi (Ruhanika Dhawan) but with the current track, the audience was introduced to a new dynamic is Raman and Ishita's relationship. In an epic monologue scripted by Girish Dhamija, Raman unleashes his wrath on Param and the rest of the Bhalla family. Making this an opportune occasion to provide its viewers with a social message the creative team of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein intricately weaves an eye opener into Raman's angst. The scene focuses on Raman's guilt for not confronting Param from the get go. He blames himself, along with the rest of the family for making Ishita suffer for the sake of their honour. He continues on about how on a macro-scale women are told to keep their oppression masked from the world to keep the family from being dishonoured. For the first time since the beginning of the series, Raman exposes his pulsating nerve in front of Ishita. He owns up to being human, to being biased, to being a skeptic but at the same time he challenges those around him to show the courage he did in exposing Param.
While the "hero" of the show is the noted scene stealer, let's not forget that you cannot have a hero without an equally powerful villain. Anurag Sharma as Param makes you want to hate him to the core. It takes great courage and brilliant acting to extract hate out of a person and Anurag Sharma does that so well. His blank reactions and stern looks act as a perfect balance to Raman's fury. His disdainful nature is the perfect juxtaposition to the Raman's hunger for truth. And let's not forget, it takes a lot of energy to be slapped by so many people, so many times!
On the bright side, the incident resulted in the growing closeness between Raman and Ishita. For the first time, Raman addressed Ishita as his responsibility rather than the mother of his daughter. As for how long this feeling lasts, only time will tell!
