Though the internally acclaimed show in its India version has nothing new to offer in terms of its format but it surely has 'Mallika Sherwat' which is a USP in itself.
Indian audiences have already witnessed many swayamwars before, like Rakhi Sawant's, Rahul Mahajan's wedding and Ratan's dilemma in the last 5 years on Imagine.
This time its a new name, new face and a new channel but offering the same. And with Mallika as the face of The Bachelorette India, the Swayamwar brand seems to have raised the bar in terms of its celeb radar and treatment.
One thing which is very peculiar this season is that most of the grooms are either Punjabis or Jats or hail from North India. Seems like Mallika with her Haryanavi image attracts men of her region only.
The 30 odd bachelors vying for Mallika's love have mixed backgrounds. There are N.R.I.s, foreigners, shopkeepers, body builders , divorcees to professor, but one senior citizen stole the show. 63-year-old divorcee Sudharshan wooed Mallika with his old charm and gentleman skills.
Like any other reality show the show has its moments of controversies and emotions. But Mallika seems very clear as to what she is looking for. Like a normal Indian girl, she wants a non glamorous person as her perfect suitor but unfortunely most of the grooms in the show though look star struck and wannabes.
Hope Mallika unlike Rakhi and Ratan follows her heart and takes the show seriously. For the guys this is like the perfect ticket to stardom. Reality shows of such kinds deem to be mostly good money making and publicity platforms for celebrities as well as aspirants.
So get set for the fiery Mallika groom hunting sessions for the next few weeks wherein finally after her ladies sangeet..Mallika will choose her man.
