Moving to Mumbai was my toughest decision:Nazim

Hello everyone! This is Mohammad Nazim aka Ahem of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya.
Today, I am here to befriend you by talking something about myself.

Hailing from Chandigarh, I am here in Mumbai to give wings to my dream of becoming an actor. There at Chandigarh, I used to appear in video and ad films and also did an ad for Brunch magazine. With this, I got noticed and later I started getting calls for auditions from Mumbai. After that I did a cameo in CID, and finally got a call from Rashmi Sharma Telefilms for their upcoming new show.

My performance in the audition was liked by the production people and they selected me. This is how Ahem happened. After a year, I got this opportunity to see myself in a lead role. This was something like the long pain of struggle washed away in just one opportunity of life.

Coming to Mumbai was my toughest move in life so far. I have spent the most precious moments with my family and friends and lived my life to fullest in Chandigarh, my hometown. And leaving them and coming to Mumbai was a very tough decision for me. But, now when I see back, I think if I would not have come here, then I would never be in this position right now.

Acting career, according to me, is very difficult in all accounts because nobody is born as an actor but there is always an actor inside everybody. Like, if you are telling a lie then you are acting and if you want to hide something then also you are acting. So, as an actor, I was born on the sets and while working, I have learnt the most minute aspects of acting only after getting into it.

The problems I faced while playing Ahem was my Punjabi accent which was very difficult to overcome in the beginning. But my passion to achieve my goal helped me to overcome my drawback. For a year, I just stopped speaking Punjabi and read more of books in Hindi. I read Prem Chand Ki Kahaniyan and kavitas (poems) of various Hindi authors. But finally it was my director who helped me a lot to get into the nerve of the character.

As time passed, I mastered myself in acting and now it's very easy for me to switch on and off from the character and get into my real self anytime.
