The epi opens with Munna planting an idea in Rishi's head...that of getting Zara to pose as Husna and leave for Lahore with Kabir. Obviously, the assumptions are that Zara is as meek as a mouse and will agree to this and that Husna can be tied up in some dungeon (or secret passage) and Kabir will not know Husna from Zara because they are all the same.
Anyway, Kabir is upset that he has to keep away from Husna because she does not allow him to get close. He cannot understand how it can happen that she thinks of a polio-stricken Babli as her own, but not her father. On her part, Begum is willing (proud, almost) to be called his begum in public. But if there is nothing to their relationship, then what's the point of this? And if she does not allow him to touch her, then what were those flashbacks that Kabir had? His happy imagination??
Anyway, Indu sets some chilles on fire (after covering her own face) and directs the smoke into the room where the Chaudharys are staying. Wonder how she thought of that!! Everyone has a coughing fit and the assaulted family comes out of the room. Indu, who is hanging around the room, is caught by Husna. A Very Angry Bi...Husna is taking Indu to task for being so indisciplined and is about to slap her when Rishi stops her. By holding her hand. To which Kabir takes umbrage and reminds Rishi time and again that Husna is his begum. Thats when this "meri begum" and "kaali dal" convo happens, which is actually an interesting and hilarious conversation. Interesting because Rishi says to Husna that she, by virtue of being a guest, cannot beat up his kid as though she is her mother. To which Kabir (who seems to have misheard) reacts hotly with "yeh humaari begum hai, aapki beti ki ammijaan nahin" and so on. We see Kabir become more insecure than his begum who is merely looking at Rishi with extreme irritation.
It was hilarious because towards the end, Rishi tells Indu that they are unrelated to Kabir's begum. And then, in a tongue-in-cheek manner, tells Kabir that this time, he had forgotten to add that bit to his speech and so he did the needful. 🤣 Point to note, though, was even after all this, not the smallest thing was said to Indu. Rishi just takes Indu away.
The next thing we know is that Indu and Babli take a tumble down the stairs after a "meri Mummy-meri ammi" exchange. (there is a moment here when Babli very generously offers Indu her ammi's love. Husna cannot help but melt with affection at the model of her upbringing. An ideal kid. Contrasted with Rishi's Indu, who is the exact opposite). Because of the fall, Indu faints! Imagine! And Rishi does not allow Husna or Kabir to touch Indu. At this point, Husna insists, in an urgent manner, that they need to return to Lahore. Among other things, she also says that Rishi will not be able to control his daughter and so they must leave. Not sure I got that part properly. They need to leave as soon as possible because they're here illegally. What does this have to do with that? Anyway, here again, Rishi jumps up and tells her to become Indu's mother and discipline her. This time, Kabir does not react and Husna is deeply affected and unable to figure out her feelings.
I really liked the straightforward way in which Husna questioned Indu's upbringing. From the perspective of a guest who is staying in someone else's house, it was a bit overdone. But for the first ever time, someone questioned it. So we can conclude that they were waiting for the rightful Mother India to step in and ask these questions.
Today, HD gave us another type of mother in Noor. After Kutumb, this is another atypical HD chaap mother. Apparently, Noor could not digest the thought of raising a handicapped daughter and was about to kill her. But Husna saved her. Noor had perhaps named her daughter something else, but Husna has rechristened her 'Babli'. No one questioned it until Rishi asked about it. And in the precap, we have Husna question her extreme reaction and irritation towards this man. Now, I guess she will experience jealousy with the entry of Chameli in the household. I only hope Ila Bedi does not opt to show us Chameli ki shaadi. That would be too much!
