I was also thinking what will be the state of mind of the grandkids seeing their parents and grandparents fighting and arguing...and the reason being their studies(one of the reason)...Wont they do the same thing to their parents?

Yes, I always wonder that when the parents behave in such a way with grandparents in front of their kids, don't they think for a moment what the child is learning and he can do the same in future?

Family argues, that's one thing. But if they see the mother behaving rudely towards the grandparents needlessly, that may affect their state of mind, they too might start considering old people an burden. And kids already are under pressure to obey their parents, if grandparents force them too, they might get even more irritated. Although I mostly see kids using grandparents to get out of trouble from the parents. Even grandparents seem to be very lenient on grandchildren and take their side, don't know why. 😆

Have you heard of The Old Aluminium Plate story between son and father?

Very true. If the child is young they will think this is the way one has to treat parents. If the child is matured enough, they will be affected a lot by these arguments and will again be in a dilemma to side which party. Do you think the son can side his parents when they come for a short while? They are going to leave anyway...why ask them go then?

There was a grandfather, his son(father) and his son(son) living.
The father used to ill treat the grandfather. Never used to take care of him, bad mouths him as he does not have any income and he is a burden to him. He used to give him food in an old aluminium plate...old left overs used to be given to him. The son used to see all this.

One day the grandfather died. The father collected all his belongings and was about to throw when the son came and took the plate and kept it inside the house. The father was curious and asked why he did that. The son replied to his father that in the future he need to use it for him.

The story is more hypothetical. It is to say...whatever you do to your parents in front of your kids...your kids will do the same to you.

@Shwets

The story puts the point nicely. Although i think it's not always the case, meaning if a son mistreats his parents it's not always necessary his father mistreated his grandfather, but yes such things will surely affect the kid's mindset.
.
If it's a short visit, the son can do that to keep peace, but sometimes the parents too get impossible to deal with.

Definitely it is not always the case, but parents need to be careful what they say as their kids are watching them.

True. I feel there are two kinds of parents now. One who does not hear because of their old thoughts and values and likes to interfere and second the modern parents who have been very independent in their lives and does not want to live under their children and hence exerts power.
