Do the female and male lead have to be involved?

Hey guys,

Just a quick thought that pooped up in my mind. Is it necessary for the two leads (male and female) have to be involved? I personally think if they had two separate people for the leads, there would be more of an interesting dynamic created.
I personally am not a fan of Arjun and Ayesha being a couple- not because I think Arjun and Riya should have been together. I just don't think Arjun and Ayesha, as characters, could be in a romantic sort of relationship.

Any thoughts?

A very valid topic.👏 I applaud you for your courage by bringing forth something that is sure to bring brickbats. The moving fiction world usually has more romance starved members than those rooting for a character or the story. This question has always been on my mind everytime members of the audiences make loud demands for "romance to kickstart" with complete disregard for the hardwork the story tellers have put into their creation or the actors who have poured their heart and soul to bring the characters alive on screen. They simply refuse to look beyond their "Bring Riya Back", "AriSha, AriSha" chant.
And why cannot a female lead hold her own as a seasoned investigator rather than be the romantic pair of the male lead. Why can't a woman be portrayed as a professional ace detective helping crack mindboggling cases instead of presenting her as lovelorn puppy making eyes at the lead?Must there always be office romance involved for viewers to moon & swoon over? Why can't we do the same for what is already being presented on screen for us?
I understand we as audiences are entitled to an all round entertainment which romance contributes a big part. But we have to understand this a crime genre. The story must take the lead followed by individual characters. If & when there is scope for romance the intelligent makers will surely create magic even there.Just like they are already creating week after week with their even more intelligent storyboard.

I think Arjun has done well for itself without there being a real romantic aspect present. We should be happy that there isn't too much mushiness because that would take away from the main purpose of the show.

However, do I think there should be more girls being brought in? Totally. Not for them to be dolls for the guys to fall in love in, but because I think women are able to bring a certain level of cognitive thought to that environment and it would be interesting to see how the two sexes feed off of each other to solve crimes!

Also thanks for the responses guys! 😊

I understand ur views about "NOT" wanting Arisha..!!
Yeah Arjun can also be like CID or Crime Patrol or any other investigation serial...!!
But it will not be Arjun.

Do u want Arjun serial to be like those common investigation serials we have? I m confident u dont want that.

Gorky has promised to give us not just another crime based show. And to peep in the lives of the officers. If they show no romance, it going to be plain BORING.
Because being HUMANS we at one point need ROMANCE AND LOVE.

And Arjun show is BASED on love. It starts with Arjun seeking revenge for the death of his LADY LOVE.

So I personally would not accept Arjun without ROMANCE.

And About not want ARISHA. I would say For GOD SAKE! STOP IT! First there were cries when Sana left and about wanting a new lead and now when we finally have one, look how u all are behaving.

U guys not like Aisha i guess deals with her looks. Please see how talented she is. She may not be a FAMOUS one but she surely is VERY TALENTED.

And if not her then who? At least she signed in for such a tough serial without any second thoughts and is still going strong.
And those who are thinking of her being absent for a week, she had prior commitments. She has other projects also. Its not wrong to think beyond Arjun.

And how will they show other characters then the ETF ones.

One side u want investigation and other hand u want other characters? How is that possible. They show already so much in that one hour show that there is no time to show romance outsde ETF.

Do u want the love lady of Arjun to be ignored or just come in the last scenes bringing a cup of tea for Arjun?
I would never want that.

What would be so wrong if we have Ayesha for Arjun?

totally agree wid u...wud luv to watch more twisted cases solved by etf rather than mushy stuff...knowingn that 99% of arjunians r females nd as a female even i lean towards romantic stuff mre...gbut in crime thriller i love the way the detectives solve the cases that is mmre intreaging than romance...

I appreciate your comment.
Having said that however, I feel like some of the points that you have brought up have nothing to do with what I have said.
I never said anything about not liking Ayesha. I applaud her for taking up a challenging show like Arjun. It's a tough role to step into, however whatever she has show thus far is impressive. Your comments in relation to not accepting her, or not recognizing that she's hard working are invalid. No one has said anything about that in this discussion topic.

Also, I believe that Arjun is different from the other crime based shows, because it deals with different issues at hand. The way the episodes are brought to life is different from a CID or Crime Patrol. You think they don't show romance then the show will become boring. I think that if they focus on the romance- the show will become an average daily soup with crime fighting as the backdrop. I think there's enough daily soaps out there to fill my appetite. Consider this- everyday we eat the same kinds of food (i.e sabzi, roti, chawal etc) but when we get to eat something different, we relish that and wish we didn't have to eat the same boring food everyday. Well Arjun is like that. It is the Chicken Tikka of Indian television.

Also, I think it's absolutely doable to showcase characters and investigation at the same time. The simplest way is to relate a case to a characters past/current situation. Does that not give us an inside into a character and an investigation?

I signed up to watch an intelligent crime show- not some sort of mushy romantic comedy where the love of the two characters overshadows the real purpose of the show. By saying so, I'm not saying Ayesha (or Riya) shouldn't have been part of the show. I think more women should be brought in.

Here s my friend Justlikethat1's take on the topic... since madam wont post it i'm doing it on her behalf :
I agree partly with Mithuz.. About Arjun needing to be different and about Aisha being talented. Agree with that..

But I think Arjun should be like Law and Order.. It should have an insight of how the personal lives of officers get affected in their line of duty. Their family, their relationships, how they overcome or separate or cannot separate their personal from professional life.

In L & O SVU the male and female lead are partners at work and are very close but are never lovers. The male lead has his own family while the female lead has her own issues but both share a great bond. Why cannot this be in Arjun..

Leads and emotions are not just about romance you know. It is also about friendship, empathy, the struggles and sharing.. Arjun and Aisha are very similar, yet very different characters. They may not need to be linked as lovers but they can be linked as partners, each having a back story. Why not? After all if Arjun is a thriller with a difference, yeah the relationship aspect can be highlighted and should be😊

I would also add saying that given the characterization of Aisha and Arjun, both strong and competent, why does it have to be an office romance? The leads can have parallel tracks.. how being a man in the police force has its own sets of problems in personal life, a woman in the force will have more problems.. A good comparison between women in Men's shoes😉
