PART 1
Whole handa house was filled with dhol tasha's as it was the wedding of eldest daughter of the house, Suhana. Suhana handa was soon going to become Suhana khanna after marrying Ishaan Khanna.
Whole house was filled with aunty's gossipying and advicing the bride about her future life, while men were busy in checking the preparations for the small wedding which was going to take place in the only hall in the area.
In all these hustle-bustle, a single person kept gaining the attention of the crowd. The girl, was a teenager and was beautiful as a fairy. Her long hair was enough to trap all boys who would once in a while keep giving her glance which she didn't even notice. Her bubbly nature was enough to keep the cheerful mood of the people in full swing while her soft yet chirpy voice was like the melody of a nightingale.
Geet, where are you beta, jaldi aa. Baraat would be here any moment, called Shalini Handa, chachi of geet who is younger sister of suhana.
Geet came running amidst the crowd dressed in light green salwar suit. She laughed as she heard the loud music of band signifying baraat had reached near the door.
The wedding took place with all the rituals and finally it was the time of bidaai. Suhana cried hugging her sister. Geet, her sister, her daughter her everything. She was the one who had seen her parents dying in front of her in an accident. They died leaving her shocked with the news and burdened with the responsibility of 2 yr old geet.
Since then, they moved to their uncle house. She had loved geet like her children, had tried to fulfill her wishes before her own. She had seen her growing up in front of her eyes and now it was the time to leave her on the responsibility of her chachi. She wished she could have taken her too but it was not possible.
Crying her heart out, she hugged geet tightly for the last time and left with her husband looking forward her new life.
Geet wiped out her tears as they moved inside. She knew it was coming but the pain was more intense when the separation really happened. She had never stayed without her sister ever now her life seemed empty without her presence.
Chachi saw geet's dull mood and hugged her comforting her. geet was like her daughter. When for the first time she held that little two year old, she loved the motherly feeling that grew in her heart. She herself had a son who was 2 year older than geet, brij but still she loved her more than him.
Next morning was a dull one as all the guests packed their bags and had the last tea in the house. Geet was serving them when one aunty said, Shalini tune ek ki responsibility to utha li ab duji ka kya. Geet bhi jawan ho gyi, thoda satark hoja, aj kal k bacho ka kya bharosa.
Geet didn't liked the voice of aunty and was about to say something but shalini showed her eyes signaling her to go inside. She immediately went back to her room giving a last glance to that aunty.
Are bhabhi ji, geet to nadan hai. Aj tak usne mere bina kahe kuch nhi kia. Wo aaj kal k bacho ki tarah nhi.
To shalini when did I said, ki there is any problem in our geet. But you cant trust the world. Aur phir geet ki sundarta humse chupi to nhi hai. Uski ek jhalak hi kafi h logo ki najar me ane k liye. Jab tak suhana thi tab tak ye uski jimmedari thi par ab ye sirf teri jimmedari hai, kuch uch nich ho gyi to lene ke dene pad jayenge, said that aunty making a mocking face.
Are bhabhiji, my daughter would never do anything which will bring shame on the family's name. aur phir abhi to wo kuch janti bhi na ki ek ladke ladki me kya asli rishta hota hai. Mai ye nhi kehti ki bevkuf hai, itna to samajhti hai ki kya galat kya shi hai and wo meri sirf responsibility nhi meri khud ki beti hai.
Shalini tum bhi samajhti nhi. Ya samajh kar bhi andhekha kar rhi ho. Maybe you could have ignored, but I have seen the way boy's were trying to follow her in wedding. Though she always ensured to not give any wrong signal, but what about society. Meri baat maan to jaldi se iske bhi haat peele kar aur rawana kar.
Bhabhiji, what are you saying. abhi to wo nabalik hai. Uski to padai bhi puri nai hui abhi. Aur phir wo bhi to bachhi hai uske bare me koi kyu nhi sochta, said shalini bringing tears in her eyes. She just couldn't digest that these ladies who are her relatives are talking about her daughter like this. Though they didn't said a word against her but indirectly it was just all against geet's life.
Aunty kept her hand on shalini's shoulder and said, dekh I know for now I am sounding harsh but one day you will realize what I was trying to say. I know geet is the best girl with all the culture in her blood but protecting her from the world is the main problem. Suhana was beautiful too but geet ki sundarta kuch aur hi hai. Darti hu ki khi uski yhi sundarta ek din uski galti na ban jae.
Though aunty said the same thing again but this time her tone didn't had that mockery in them. It was just a concern for that little girl. Saying the lines, all the relatives left shalini alone unknown to the fact what harm those words did on geet's mind.
Geet stood in her room, in tears, hearing all those words which pricked her heart like needles. Ofcourse she know what aunty was trying to say. She isn't stupid to ignore those lustful gazes of boys but she never gave any signal to promote them. She dint understand why that aunty just wished that I should be married off as if it's the only solution. And most importantly what about my DREAMS, my AMBITIONS, my LIFE. Does that all means nothing. Just the society matters but what about the people who make up this word called SOCIETY.
She just wiped off her tears knowing her chachi would never do anything wrong with her. she would never let me fail. With the only hope she closed her eyes praying to babaji to show her the right way always.
