13 years of Hrithik Roshan!

Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai

13 years ago, on this very day, a film starring newcomers released in theatres. Expectations were low, as Rakesh Roshan's previous film Koyla starring Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit was a box office disaster.

But what followed was mass hysteria.. Hrithik Roshan took the nation by storm. Kaho Na Pyaar Hai was running to packed houses all over India and Hrithik was hailed as a complete package; someone with charisma, screen presence, great looks, unbelievable dancing skills and to top it all a fantastic actor.

He was on the cover of every magazine, every brand in India wanted him to endorse their product. Roshan was also compared to senior and experienced actors like Shahrukh andSalman Khan.

And the Hrithik phenomena didn't end there. During the awards season in January 2001, Hrithik's performance was the highlight of all award shows. KNPH bagged more than 100 awards and Hrithik was one of the first actors in history to win both the Filmfare Best Debut and Best Actor award in the same year.

Unfortunately for him, the fall was almost as sudden as his rise. Fiza, Mission Kashmir, Yaadein and a few forgettable films flopped at the box office. Most of these films were signed before he turned 'superstar' with KNPH. With directors trying to cash-in on his stardom, scripts were rewritten at the last minute to extend his role.

He hit the lowest phase of his career when Sooraj Barjatya's Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon flopped at the box office. In Hrithik's own words, the lowest point of his career was when "a magazine which had my face on the cover and it said 'Finished'".

Having seen it all at the age of 29.. Hrithik proved his detractors wrong when his second home-production, Koi Mil Gaya went on to be the biggest blockbuster of 2003. The film also won him the Filmfare Best Actor Popular and Critics.

Today, 13 years after his debut, Hrithik has delivered some outstanding performances in films like Lakshya, Jodha Akbar, Krrish, Dhoom 2, Guzaarish, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Agneepath. He has hardly put a foot wrong in the last 8 odd years with two rare failures in Kites, an experimental film and Guzaarish, which is widely considered to be one of his best performances.

Hrithik Roshan 2013 Movies: Upcoming Films

After two hugely successful films (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Agneepath), 2013 will be a huge year for Hrithik Roshan and his fans around the world. His home-production, the super-ambitious Krrish 3, will release during Diwali 2013. A few other films will also go on floors this year.

Below is a detailed list of Hrithik Roshan's Upcoming Movies in 2013.

Hrithik Roshan 2013 Movies

Krrish 3: Along with Yash Raj Films' Dhoom 3, Krrish 3 is one of the most awaited sequels of 2013. The superhero film will be Hrithik's solo release this year. Talking to the media on his birthday (January 10th), the actor said "We have been working on Krrish 3 for almost 5 years. Still a long way to go, a lot of special effects are still left. The film has gone beyond our imagination and has been the toughest challenge ever". Krrish 3 also stars Priyanka Chopra, Vivek Oberoi and Kangna Ranaut. The film is directed by Rakesh Roshan.

Current status: The shooting schedule was wrapped up in December and the actors are currently dubbing for the film. Red Chillies Entertainment will be working on the Visual Special Effects. Release Date: 1st November 2013

Bang Bang: Director Sidhharth Anand's next, the official remake of Hollywood film "Knight and Day", will feature Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. The film has been tentatively titled 'Bang Bang' (working title, could be changed later).

Current Status: The first shooting schedule will begin in the second week of February. Siddarth recently visited the Kashmir and has decided to shoot a part of the film in picturesque valleys. Stunt director of Hollywood films like Rambo has been been roped in choreograph the high-octane action sequences. Release date: First half of 2014.

Paani: It's a film that filmmaker Shekhar Kapur conceptualised and wrote 15 years back. Hrithik has always been Kapur's first choice to play the lead in the film that will cost more than $30 million to make. While Hrithik's presence is yet to be officially confirmed, the actor has spoken about the film in several interviews. At the Marrakech Film Festival, Hrithik said "I would just say that working with Shekhar Kapur is a lifelong dream of mine. Paani is a dream and I hope it happens."

Current status: The film is still in it's pre-production stage. Yashraj Films has agreed to produce the film. Release date: Not confirmed.

Zoya Akhtar's untitled next (unconfirmed): Zoya has always publicly said that Hrithik is her favorite actor and she would want him to be a part of every film she directs. At Dabboo Ratnani's calendar launch, Hrithik also spoke about the film and said he would never say 'no' to Zoya. Recently, there were several rumours floating around of Zoya pulling off a casting coup of Hrithik, Kareena, Ranbir and Katrina, but the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara director has rubbished all rumours.

Current status: The film is yet to be officially announced.

That's Hrithik Roshan's lineup of movies for 2013 and 2014. His only release in 2013 will be Krrish 3, but 'Bang Bang' is likely to release early 2014.

His debut was truly a phenomenon in every sense of the word!

I wish he'd handled his career a bit better and not done so few films and wasted years over films like Kites and Guzaarish.

One of the best actors and best looking men in history of Bollywood. Wishing better quality films to him which do justice to his talent.
